  1. Yeah, I mean, I don't think Colorado is shying away from the fact they are top heavy. They have probably the best current player in the NHL . Of course they want him on the ice as often as they can.
  2. Yes. And I looked up TOI this AM to confirm it. Their top line skated 25+ last night.
  3. Bischel is still 19 I think and from everything I've read probably 2 years away. I can't see any possible way you bring him into the NHL playoffs. They just have to trust Nils and hope to limit the damage or do the same with Hakanpaa once he's healthy. There is no way around it. I do think Marchment could provide a nice spark if he's ready to play. He was playing pretty well until he was injured.
  4. The 'hunger strike' video is hilarious. The self importance of all these losers is absolutely mind boggling.
  5. I haven't seen a replay so you all can tell me if I'm off. But I thought 2/3 of Georgiev's goals looked pretty soft live (i.e., both other than the 5 on 3). Then yes, he made some huge stops in the 3rd and OT although I feel like we had a carry over of the same 'finishing' issue from last series. Hintz missed on a great opportunity. Then on the Pavelski feed to Seguin - I thought for sure that it was the winner. It was right in front of me and I was celebrating when I saw the pass. I couldn't tell if Segs just didn't get his stick turned to elevate or puck was bounching a bit or what but that seemed like as much of a missed finish as it was a great save. For Otter, I'm not sure any of the goals were "soft". Our PK was garbage. But we needed him to make that one big save in OT and he didn't make it. I haven't seen a replay of the winner yet but it seemed similar to the breakaway in game 5 Vegas had with 1-2 mins left he stopped.
  6. How last night played out was exactly what I was nervous about when I saw the BS schedule. Team had zero energy the 2nd and first half of the 3rd. Neither did the arena. It felt like we were playing a Tues night in February against the Blues at times. It's almost like everyone was still hungover for a GD 9PM start on a Tues after a huge game 7 win 48 hours earlier. That was also evidenced by the ticket market which was a joke. The 5 seats next to us never sold. For those local, get to the game Thurs. You won't be paying anything near what folks paid for game 7. All that being said, I think this team will settle in and this series goes long. There was no way we could expect them to keep the same intensity for 60 mins after last series. Duchene called it the most stressful hockey of his career and I think we saw the letdown last night. I think pretty much everyone plays better Thurs. Our top line isn't going to beat their top line this series, they aren't as good, but I think they will play better than tonight. Hintz needs to take his (lack of) performance personally. Or he's hurt, in which case, we are probably cooked if we can't get 'something' out of him this series. Seguin and Stankoven just seem snakebit. Both have had great looks all playoffs and just can't get the puck in the net. Feel like the dam is going to break for both of those guys soon.
  7. Ok. I watched. Correct I don't see any anti-semitic chanting. I see a bunch of losers that deserve to be arrested. This is on par with the stuff posted on the national news that doesn't get into the fringe/militant wing we've seen. And I'm fine assuming that wing is a small minority. But if you are arguing these videos somehow paint the protestors in a positive light we'll just agree to disagree on this one.
  8. I mean if the best defense you have for these losers is "yeah but the KKK" that says a lot.
  9. I actually disagree. The national news isn't even showing the worst sides of this protest. They are showing the encampments/campus takeovers and police interactions. There isn't any way to sugar coat what is happening if they wanted to. The national shows aren't really diving into (or barely touching on) the level of anti-semitism which, at least on the fringes, is pretty fucking extreme. That was my point. The "mainstream" protests are outrage inducing without even diving into the militant side.
  10. The volume of his posts/videos are over the top and yeah the 'sources' are shitty. But on this specific issue, I don't think there are videos that exist that can put these "protestors" in a positive light. The neutral (if not left leaning) national morning show footage is outrage inducing on a daily basis for any normal person.
  11. I won't bump my post in the UT protest thread so it doesn't veer off topic but you may recall many praising the restraint showed by the University of Chicago (i.e., strong disapproval but not taking immediate action) when coming down hard on Hartzell. I said I thought 50/50 at best they wouldn't end up needing to get the police involved. Looks like that was a winning bet. University of Chicago police clear pro-Palestinian protest encampment on campus - ABC7 Chicago Half measures won't work with these losers.
  12. Agreed with this. It's just going to be a completely different series. Against Vegas, a 3rd period 2 goal lead for either team would have felt insurmountable. Not going to be the case this series. Hopefully the defensive intensity and focus that was a necessity against Vegas carries over and gives Otter a chance to win the games for us. I absolutely expect us to score more goals this series. 2 goals won the last 2 games in the first round and 3 goals won 6/7 last series. I will be surprised if 2 goals wins any games this round. Probably going to take 4 or 5 most nights.
  13. Vegas seemed like much more of a Hakanpaa series than Colorado. Not sure Nils would be better (obviously the Vegas goal last game was on him) but slow ass Hak scares me against the Avs speed
  14. It's the only series without either additional off days before the start (see Vancouver/Edmonton Weds start after series set Friday night) or a scheduled extra day off around travel. It's a real advantage for Colorado after playing 7 against one of the more physical teams in the league. It is what it is. The positive is with our series starting first, if we can manage to pull it off, we will have an extra day before the WCF's start. Excited for this series. Going to be such a completely different style of hockey.
  15. I'll be in Vegas next weekend with the wife and it looks likely the Stars game will start around 6PM. Looking for dinner options with a TV. I've done Beer Park before and it was pretty solid. Is that still my best bet or does anyone have other ideas? That is of course assuming I keep my current reservation at Waldorf on the strip. We're likely going to see the J. Timberlake concert at T Mobile on Friday night (have reservations at Catch/Aria before) so will likely just keep our reservation but I'm a little tempted to pivot to Circa considering both the Mavs and Stars will have games Saturday. I haven't been but know they have a great sportsbook and Stadium Swim setup for game watching. Has anyone stayed there?
  16. At least they get a scheduled extra day before game 6. Our series plays straight through. It is what it is but certainly not ideal. There really is no doubt we would have started Weds with Vancouver/Edmonton (both already rested) starting Tues but for this spare concert. I'm sure TV partners not happy about having to split the DFW market between Mavs and Stars either.
  17. Oh I think extremely unlikely but they fucked us without a single extra day of rest. Don't think there is any way we can do it either but a brutal schedule.
  18. What a game and series. Otter and D (other than Nils) were just fantastic. Now pivoting to a completely different type of series. Someone from the AAC needs to be fired for booking a spare concert during the playoffs and fucking up the schedule. Not only are we screwed as fans with Mavs/Stars simultaneously, this team deserves a fucking day off after that series. A 48 hour turnaround is bullshit. Wonder if any conversation about trying to steal game 1 with Wedgewood considering the series schedule.
  19. Otter played great last night. Exactly the kind of game you needed from him to clinch on the road. Really disappointing effort offensively. I think it all boils down to whether or not we finish at the net like we have all fucking season. They are really good defensively and have had good to great play from Thompson/Hill but we are missing wide open nets every damn game. I don't think there is a single game we have hit our expected goals and now multiple we are like 3 behind. Either we execute at the net Sunday or that's a wrap. I still feel pretty confident. This is why you work all season to get these games at home. Our seat rep was able to upgrade us to 2nd row right on the net Sunday so should be a fun one.
  20. Someone posted this in the protest thread which brought me back to our discussion. I know it's kind of a joke but still illustrative of what a disaster this issue is for Biden. He's doing absolutely nothing wrong and getting skewered by both sides. https://x.com/ClownWorld_/status/1785821312063345011
  21. That poll question was a bit more specific that almost requires some semi-informed opinion to answer. Based on a super quick google search, I would be more curious to see if this poll changes at all. Majority in U.S. Now Disapprove of Israeli Action in Gaza (gallup.com)
  22. Note it says percentages for those that do not have an opinion are not shown. I'm betting that was a material percentage. I'm also betting that percentage is materially lower now and it skews heavily in favor of "Oppose". I think the protests have been an absolute PR disaster for anyone supporting a free Palestine. The reality is the vast majority of Americans don't take the time to critically analyze any domestic issue much less foreign issues as complicated as Israel/Palestine. But a bunch of radicals effectively taking over college campuses is going to make a lot of people automatically oppose whatever it is they stand for.
  23. Probably something to do with the idiots that tried to take down the American flag at UNC, resulting in viral videos of frat bros protecting the U.S. flag and getting like $500K in go fund me towards a rager, resulting in other frat bros across the country seeing it go viral and joining in on the action. It was just as predictable as the idiotic protest spreading across the country in the first place. Tik Tok generation gonna Tik Tok generation. And I would love to see polls showing any kind of majority support for anything regarding Palestine after the last 2 weeks. I would be willing to bet a large sum that the idiot protestors have absolutely destroyed public support for their cause.
  24. Looks like they are going Hill again. Interesting decision. Hill didn't play bad Wednesday but I also think all things considered he's less likely to completely steal a game like Thompson almost did in game 3. If we can finally start finishing at the net like we have all season it won't make a shit.
  25. Yeah, not sure you survive losing 7 straight opportunities to advance to the 2nd round in a hockey market like Boston. His job probably on the line.
