  1. This was one of my favorite topics on the old site, surprised to see no one has resurrected it yet. Then again, making fun of dumb college students and professors is really going after the low-hanging fruit. But whatever, it's entertaining. Let's start with the fat cunt who couldn't react to Barbara Bush's passing with a modicum of class, or at least silence: http://www.fresnobee.com/news/local/article209197719.html Here is the face of the modern American intellectual:
  2. I like this theory, however Varys has claimed that he hates the use of magic because he lost his junk in a magical ritual.
  3. Just learned that Brief Cases will be released on June 5 and he's going on a small signing tour. He'll be in Austin on June 6. http://www.jim-butcher.com/posts/2018/brief-cases-signing-tour
  4. Whoops, sorry, my bad. I don't know what more we can do on that front. I haven't heard anything back from "Martyn." Maybe hide the Best Buy Coupons forum from public view?
  5. The last, I'm not expecting him to respond - the last email he sent sounded like he was tired of me.
  6. Emails so far (hosted on imgbb.com):
  7. I just sent Imgur a polite note asking them why they're blocking Surly. If they respond, I'll post the response.
  8. Jim Butcher was building a house or something and didn't have a space to work, it's complete now so he should be back to work. He's got some short stores coming out this fall, the next Dresden novel should follow at some point.
  9. Yeah, but Shaggy predated Imgur, and probably only gradually started linking to it's images. Surly popped up virtually overnight and no doubt caused a spike in traffic, very noticeable.
  10. If imgur is really blocking Surly, it won't get fixed. Shame, that is where I get a lot of the pics I post, it's a lot more effort to rehost them.
  11. Every once in a while, I'll re-read the whole series in the hopes that the next book will come out in the year that it takes me.
  12. Finally, a book forum! What are you reading right now?
  13. I agree with most of this, but I still thought it was a good movie, worth paying a little extra to see in the theater. I've seen a couple people in here write that they walked out in the middle of it. Really? Do people really do that? Shit, I saw Highlander 2 in the theater and stayed through the whole thing because I thought maybe it would get better. Maybe I'm just not that smart.
  14. So this is the day when we find out this whole law suit and move was an elaborate April Fool's Day prank, right?
  15. There is mounting evidence that plants have greater sensory perception than traditionally believed - even though they lack sensory organs. They may not have "nerves" in the same way that animals do, but they do react to all kinds of stimuli. It's not outside the realm of possibility that they "feel" pain in some way. http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20170109-plants-can-see-hear-and-smell-and-respond
  16. Confucius says you will wake up with a smelly finger.
  17. I listen to some of those that others have listed, above, but also: Hardcore History Adam Carolla, depending on the guest (also sometimes Ace on the House and Adam & Drew) Welcome to Nightvale Last Podcast on the Left (depending on the subject) Mysterious Universe This American Life (depending on the subject) Am anxiously awaiting the return of Getting on with James Urbaniak (probably never) and Serial.
