  1. That's just gaslighting both from Trump and the media trying to stir up fear & engagement amongst their audience. The only one of any remote concern is Trump going the VP route but even that is a ridiculous stretch.
  2. Well for starters, I'm NOT a supporter and am one that thinks our whole system is fucked. To your question of what's the fucking point? He's obviously is a narcissist and loves the theatrics and influence he has over simple minded people. As stated in the Youtube video above this isn't complicated...Trump likes to drive a narrative, push the media cycle to whatever end, and rinse/repeat with no real thought on ramifications. Most of the time nothing happens (whew), some of the time the results are bad and other times (rare) the results are actually positive. As to the "beef" with Canada, there are certainly areas of the trade/economic partnerships that could certainly be improved but I don't get the urgency all of a sudden with them. Supposedly a lot of the fake China shit is flowing through Canada, which does cost American's more in the long run. There are some good follows out there from supply chain/industry people who spell it out way better than any journalist or random internet expert.
  3. I mean, they will at some point because they'll have to. They aren't gonna go into a recession to prove a point...they'll buckle down and take measures similar to what Mexico is doing. But agree, it's all theatrics...I don't understand why people live and die by this stuff in 5 minute increments.
  4. Trip report. In and out for a one night biz trip with three meals: Lunch - Mr Bs - duck spring rolls and tuna wontons were killer. BBQ shrimp delivered as always. Dinner - Commanders Palace - First time, had to have turtle soup as recommended here and it didn’t disappoint. I felt it had a beef flavor but maybe my palate was off. Dinner was a sublime medium rare Filet. Breakfast - Ruby Slipper. Bloody Mary’s were spicier than usual. Don’t eat anything fancy but always a great breakfast. Someone at our table got the hot honey chicken biscuit and it looked amazing.
  5. @maphumanintent is a good follow when it comes to global logistics/supply chain topics. https://x.com/maphumanintent/status/1885911185939136631
  6. Lot of people are just ignorant, been that way forever though unfortunately many now have voices that can spread online. Negligence/incompetence/human error is the most likely culprit, it’s unfortunately just a part of life and all we can hope is our air traffic “system” learns from this and makes changes so that next time we go double or triple the 15 years we went since our last commercial accident like this. Hopefully this is the last accident like this any of us see in our lifetime on US soil.

  8. Very sorry for your loss.
  9. They do. I run a LiveATC feed and it requires a good radio, antenna, and line of site to the tower and sky around the airport to stream quality audio. Many feeds may have good tower audio or good plane audio depending on positions but not as many have both.
  10. Yes, media gets a little berserk with tragedies like this. It’s definitely worse than Colgan Air in 2009 or the Delta commuter crash in KY in 2006. Just awful.
  11. 3 soldiers aboard the Blackhawk. No Sr. officials onboard per the Army.
  12. CRJ-700 with a capacity of up to 68 people. Really hope this wasn't a full flight.
  13. It's a fake. For starters the 252"k" views shouldn't be lowercase.
  14. It's not a cop out. Historically, the world stays "fucked" yet moves on and quality of life for most continues to improve...thanks to technology, communication, diversity, evolution, etc... Just stay in the last 100 years. What was the consensus view of parents in the mid-20s? Mid-40s? Mid-60s? I just disagree if you think there's certainty that the situation or future forecast today is different than it may have been in countless points in the past.
  15. Pete's got his work cut out for him to be worse than McNamara or Rummy. I obviously hope he's less impactful on the world than they were.
  16. Least qualified is anyone ever named "MarkWayne"
  17. At that point we had over a 100k troops in Iraq and probably already 20k in Afghanistan. Lots of bullshit going on at that exact time, definitely making us the world leader at the time.
  18. Can you name me a point in time where the world wasn't fucked up? I don't like Hegseth either but the hyperbole year after year after year gets to be a bit much.
  19. It's gonna be fine.
  20. Depends on how you look at it, I guess. Not standing up for Navin, BUT: ~152 million people voted, out of a pool of ~245 million eligible voters. So yes, minors and anyone else not eligible sat out but nearly 2/3 of those that could have voted, did. Turnout in non-swing states has a big impact on the overall numbers. The results, even from a technical minority of people, are a good representation nationally of what people want.
  21. I don't think the "populace" does any research at all, but without much digging it's not hard to find the flaws in crime statistic reporting, among other measures like jobs. The combination of a politically valuable data point combined with problematic data gathering typically just leads to people spinning the numbers however they want to form the narrative they want. Do any of you follow the Marshall Project? They have a lot of good coverage on the reporting of crime stats, namely how problematic it is today.
  22. So no more foreign wars but we're immediately gonna go take back the Panama Canal, peacefully?
  23. "Great call." FUCK you, Kirk. This isn't a September skirmish.
