@tequila refresh my memory, but you have a Freeman for the deeper water, correct? Got both ends of the spectrum pretty, pretty well covered.

Fishing Megathread: Looking For Big Girls Who swallow
fattyflattie replied to Mac8111's topic in Hobbies
In VS defense, they are for life. Similar to a real boga, etc. -
We never have cool shit like this. Wife's uncles have killed several similar type oddities, including a 6-7 yo cactus buck that is hard to even describe what he had going on. I'd trade that for a dozen 130's.

Maybe not any championships, but sir, they do have an Orange bowl trophy earned over a highly opted out basketball school. And a chicken bowl trophy from ~12 years ago. Oh, and a cotton bowl (pre NY6) somewhere collecting dust.

Guess she forgot where they sat and watched the horns play the last few years? Not nearly hot enough to be an aggy and a bitch.

And sow trout just down the road. Talk about an area God reached down and touched.

Well, I mean I don't like to brag, but I'm kind of a big deal and also hunt within 15 miles of Fal... but I also drink at Lopez bar and don't think they do. Couple of years we were eating some late AM tacos at Guadalajara and this group comes in. I've make a habit of having nice hunting equipment (clothes, guns, etc etc). I've got some of the fancy English shooting shirts and jackets from Gordy etc. that I've been given/picked up through the years. This group though, it was almost like it was another couple levels about that. Just like when you see someone in a suit you know they picked up off Savile. And it's my 5 aggy buddies and me - very hung over, talking shit and hitting on the chubby waitress like the other 10 times we've been in there that week. Anyhow this little family group had a daughter/DIL that was easily, and I mean this without hyperbole, the prettiest Hispanic woman I've ever seen. I've lived in Mexico, worked all over Central and South America for months at a time. Have seen a fucking plenty of beauties. NOTHING, ever, like this. Was wearing a diamond about the size of a dime on her skinny ass finger. Apologies if for some chance she ends up being some monied Horn's family member. But holy shit that is burned into my head forever. I didn't even know they made girls like that. I remember walking out and saying sarcastically, wonder what truck they're in - as there was two current model year 250's with 100k beds on them, likely filled with another 50k in dogs. Most of our group shot limits/near limits each hunt that week. It was good enough hunting I moved over to my .410 on the second or third day. But we only had a few labs and a Viz, are confined to 1k acres, and none of us flew home after the hunt. A completely different world. Our neighbors (this sucks) only hunt quail up until about January, when they start caring about deer. It sucks for me because I'm on that fence line, and they are local and they hunt it ALOT. Enough that most of the time the deer don't pay it any attention. Still annoying when it's middle of deer season and the evenings sound like a fucking clay shoot.

Don't think so. Maybe send another request.

We'll be pretty close as the crow flies.

I know I've mentioned this before, but the little Kingsville airport goes from 2 private jets to ~8+ during quail season. Our ranch manager does some work with a group of them. They lease out 100k acres at a pretty substantial rate - and as you said, no expenses spared. They gave a stunning Brittany to him because he wasn't performing to the tune of $$$$ he had in it at the time. Surprise, the dog is a very, very good bird dog. The brand new 250's with (literally) 75k plus in beds on them, the private jets, the sidelock shotguns that cost as much as a truck, all pretty amazing to witness (they sometimes come slumming at the local food holes in the AM). The irony of it is we can eek out quail limits several times a year (we have about 9-12 strong coveys) for every person on the ranch and guests. Hell we've got better quail and dove than we do deer, which doesn't really hurt my feelings. But i do wonder what its like to have a seven figure lease bill for some tasty little birds.

I started quail hunting with a .410 a few years ago and it was a blast, albeit expensive. A 28g is considerably cheaper to shoot and sends a lot bigger load of shot. Hell I've found 32 gauge, yes 32, ammo cheaper than .410. If I'm hunting dove in fields, 12 (special white wing)/20 (general). If I'm hunting over our tank, .410. It's a lot more fun until you have to go and hunt down more ammo. FWIW, my closest academy has considerably more options in 28g, which is also cheaper, than they do .410. Makes no sense and drives my up the wall.

I didn't care for the rubber cheek piece on the ethos, but obviously both are really nice guns. I have an A400 in 20 - the one without the rubber in the grip (also don't like that). Was looking at an Ethos 28ga myself but think I'm going to treat myself to a Rizzini O/U. I'd guess you'd love either one, but you have to get out there and swing them. There was a difference for me, and I ended up with an A400. Just landed and swung better.

Exactly. I believe that meme is titled Irony.gif

Certainly not for red state farmers. I bet they can work something in for the Blue state aggy.
