  1. I can't fault them for Martinez.  How many shots can you give a guy to prove he can hit major league pitching?  At some point after that, he either changed his approach or started listening to advice.

God gave us Jose Siri to make up for JD!
  2. Had an uncle that was a lawyer for the Gambino family in South Florida for years. Kind of took everything he said with a grain………Then the Miami riots happened and Aunty is screaming that all four corners of the property are covered with machine gun wielding tough guys. Add that to the fact that he was arrested three times (never convicted) for various mob related activities.

Loved his life, he was a great guy. Always said that the people he worked for never pushed the drugs. (Think pre-Gotti) He was good people.

Let’s get real, Corpus has one and only especial. That’s the unknown dive Mexican place.

Got this beauty at the El Gallo Jalisco in Flour Bluff a couple weeks ago. The women with us would not enter this fine establishment due to concerns over readily apparent cleanliness issues. That was their loss. Might have been the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Get the Alambres Plate. You’ll thank me later.

  4. OK, I screwed up when I said Dodger Stadium was the worst on the west coast. Totally forgot about Oakland (it’s totally forgettable.)

    So my west coast ranking:

1-SFO (Loved it every time, even with frostbite)
    2-SAN (Cool stadium, very Milfy)
3-LAA (Not surprisingly feels like Disneyland)
    4-SEA (Surprisingly friendly fans)
5-LAD (Iconic, but needs LOTS of paint)
6-OAK (An absolutely horrific stadium, but a cool vibe minus the local gunfire)

  5. They have invested hundreds of millions into that place over the last 10 years.  Best stadium in baseball.  Go there and say I’m wrong.  Blue heaven on earth.

It’s heaven for a Dodger fan. Kind of a sketchy, rundown stadium if not. Been to almost every active MLB park and it’s below average on a good day. Certainly my least favorite on the west coast.
  6. Seemed like 45k.  Which was surprising, as the Mets (and Cubs) are always a HUGE draw at Dodger Stadium.  All the transplants come out in droves. I’d have expected 50k+. But it has been so hot.  A 1 pm game looked like it would be blistering, but he overcast made it bearable.   And there is no place on earth as nice as Dodger Stadium on a nice day game.

I agree that it’s kind of cool walking up to Dodger Stadium hearing the great Vin Scully yapping. But other than that the place is in serious need of a paint job!
  7. William Kelly's War (2014) Story of an Aussie sniper and his brothers sent to the front in WW1. Meanwhile back at home ruthless outlaws kidnap his sister. Hell hath no fury when he returns. Great flick.

Had to try it after your recc. Great call!
  8. Dallas cares about 3 things: Texas Longhorns, OU, and the Dallas Cowboys. TCU or Tech do not rate here, at all.

I’m going to disagree here. In my (probably more neutral) eyes the order is:

    Cowboys……………………………………………………Texas…A&M…………….Tech…….OU….OkieSt…LSU.TCU.SMU.Baylor.Bama.Arky.Everyone else

  9. Long time lurker here.  Decided as a true Astros fan its finally time to become a poster.  Over the years I've truly enjoined all of your terrible opinions and melt downs when we sucks.
    Couple things about me:
    1) Hate Myles Straw
    2) 1 time share2care winner
    3) Jose Altuve is the best Astros of all time.
    4) If you leave the Stros you're dead to me.  Screw you Springier.

Your take number 4 is really not nice.
  10. Good actor. RIP. I wish he had in more shows/films. Hollywood seems determined to keep rolling Chazz Palminteri out there for every mob role not directed by Scorsese.

    And the problem is?
  11. Been Keto for almost 3 years. In short you need to almost eliminate carbs to get yourself into Ketosis (3-5 days.) Then you can ease the carbs back in to about 30-50 carbs/day (depending on your weight.) After that it’s pretty much cruise control. Lost 20-25 pounds in the first 3 months, stayed there ever since.

The thing I love about Keto is that it’s easy to stay on it and you need to get off it occasionally. (Like every other month or so I take the week off, usually around a holiday.) This is purportedly to let your liver know you will still give it carbs. (Otherwise your liver will actually start producing glucose on its own.) I gorge on my fav carbs during the time off and am totally ready for Keto after the fun. Somehow I gain very little weight during the Keto vacations.

Get blood work every 6 months and all my numbers remain good to better. No problem with booze especially in moderation. I seem to fart less and burp more in ketosis. This is probably good.

  12. I was a Marine, but damn if The Outpost was not US Army greatness. Bad ass studs that deserved their real life medals. 2 Medal of Honors and 5 Silver Stars, well deserved. Just watched it for the second time(and I never watch movies twice.) Best war flick since Full Metal Jacket IMHO. Thanks for the recc.
