  1. I'm trying to come up with a summer vacation alternative that I'm able to use some points for and is economical. Remodel hitting the wallet pretty hard. LA/DL is on the list. Probably only a day in park, 2 max. We prefer a 2+ bedroom condo/airbnb. What should I be looking at? How do lightning lanes and all of that work at DLR? I have been to WDW many times but never to Anaheim. Thanks in advance.

  2. Chicago is probably my favorite city in the world. I love deep dish, love Chicago deep dish. I was there for work in November, I had been dying to try Pequod's. I will certainly give them another chance because Door Dash and nothing is ever consistently excellent but this pie was ass.

Are we still pretending Anthony Davis is some franchise player when he misses 30 games a season?

Forget it, I'll let someone else do it.

I think Amazon closed their VPN loophole on League Pass. Yes I watch the pistons sometimes on a side TV. For gambling. How are you all buying league pass these days?

You were using Amazon to watch your league pass games? I still use my VPN to watch League pass but I go through nba.com

Yes, I've been getting league pass and extra innings both though Prime pretty much solely because I could use the vpn and watch whatever I wanted. I use YTTV and they have severed ties with a lot of the regionals. Tonight I received a message when I tried to launch any game on League Pass that they detected I was using a vpn, please disable and try again. I have an IPTV sub but it kind of sucks.

  6. Unless they become uninterested or injured, I don't think anyone is beating the nuggets. They are so complimentary to each other and connected. They put on a clinic tonight against the Kings.

  7. My gym has a 20 yard turf track with 4 lanes. The inside lane is against the wall. The outside lane usually has a sled in it. Once a week I push the sled. Once a week I do deep split squat lunges the length of the track and back. I'm old. I need the wall for emotional and sometimes physical support. It amazes me the number of inconsiderate and oblivious idiots who will decide to grab a couple of dumbbells or a yoga mat and set up in the lane you're using to do something that just requires a tiny area and could be done anywhere else.

  8. I started to hate my overhead 4k projector. I did not want to sacrifice my 100" screen and I wasn't ready to drop 10k on a 100" tv (this was a couple of years ago, or a year ago, can't remember). I bought a Hisense short throw laser that came with the screen and I love it. I'm sure it's not as great of a picture as a 100" O/Q but to my eyes it's great, and about 5x better than my old overhead. They do make cabinets/tables with "skylights" but last I looked they were 3-4k.

I’m a fan of a lot of his music but haven’t watched because he was so bad on Abbott Elementary.

They made fun of that in one of the first couple of episodes. I didn't get it until I googled. I would not say that he's "good", he's mostly expressionless. But it's funny, the stuff going on around him, the scenarios are all pretty absurd and good for some laughs. Uncle "JJ" in episode 4 at the family reunion got me.

  10. I think this is pretty funny. It's kind of like a black version of Curb as far as I can tell. I had to Google Vince Staples after watching the first episode so that's where I'm coming from and I've gotten some laughs out of it. Anyone else?

Went to Michigan State @ Michigan in 2002, so it's been a minute, but my take on Ann Arbor/Detroit:

Ann Arbor is the lamest college town I've ever been to.  The Friday night before the game could have been Anywhere, USA that wasn't a college town the night before a game w/ little brother.  Zero energy.  Nothing at the fraternity houses, nothing downtown at the bars/restaurants.  Couldn't have been more disappointed.

Michigan's tailgate area is their golf course, directly across from the Big House.  I was blown away that the school let everyone just destroy their golf course - and they did fuck it up royally....my favorite being a car doing donuts w/ a kid holding on to the rear bumper superman style (wet day).  I remember thinking that this shit would never fly in Texas.  Fun scene, no question about it.

The Big House has the smallest seats possible.  They seat 100K in a stadium that was made for 80K.  You're not only on top of each other on your row, but there's no room between rows.  If someone leaves the row, EVERYONE is getting up - there's no moving your legs over and letting them by.

Going out in Detroit, especially the casinos, is an adventure.  I'm sure it's evolved in the past 20 years.

If The Landing Strip Lounge in Romulus is still open, by all means, do visit.  Shockingly one of the best titty bars I've ever been to, and we were there mid-afternoon, not 1am on a Saturday.

I was at that game I think. We lost 49-3 and Chuck Rogers gave up on the field. RIP. I don't believe the Landing Strip still exists.

Doing my best to put my bias aside I maintain that Ann Arbor is a really cool town but a shitty college town. I'm sure if one went to school there they would feel differently.

I guess I just remembered his best years being the title years because Detroit wasn't much of a factor after that. They didn't win a playoff series after CHI swept them in '91. He put up some points and made a couple all-star games and some all-NBA and all-dedense teams but his assist numbers were awful and his shooting numbers weren't as good (and the team wasn't as good).

He certainly wasn't as good as Drexler in '91 or '92.

And when I say "remembered" I mean just based on my historical knowledge of the game. I never watched him play.

My comment was more in regards to his GM/President tenure. Instead of embracing the rebuild he...traded for AI and signed Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva iirc.

I do remember Joe being pretty damn good in the early to mid 90s, after Isiah retired. I remember that signature step back 3 off the dribble.

Clyde is probably the right answer.

  13. Disclaimer is I'm old and I don't go "out" much anymore for nightlife. I did hit up a Wings game with some friends in town last winter and we went to some bars in mid town. That said, from what I hear, I would not recommend Greektown other than maybe a place to grab lunch during the day. I think at night on the weekends these days there are a lot of hooligans down there looking for trouble. There have been a few fights and shootings down there over the past few years.

Also as PH says you would have to be insane to try Slow's as a Texan so please don't. It's not good BBQ imo. There's a place in Dearborn Heights where a guy opened a store who trained under Franklin. But yeah I'm sure you don't need BBQ in Detroit. Square pizza, coneys, Middle Eastern, Polish is our wheelhouse.
