  1. Remember the good ole days ripping bong hits while Alex Jones played in the background on ACTV.
Now that dude influences the President of the United States, and the world is in reality way more fucked up than you thought it was back in 1995.

    I member!

    Salad days indeed.
  2. The left has a duty as well.
Don't trot an extremist like Beto out there and force the choice.  .

Make the candidate a bit more palatable and watch what happens...

Sorry, i said i was done with the evening posting, but there are some on the left equally as fucked up as Trump who are thinking, Now's our chance, they have to vote our way or admit supporting Trump.

I don't want another shit sandwich election.

Ha ha ha. Yeah you’ll keeping pulling that R lever trump on the ticket or Satan.

Beto is an “extremist”. Keep on keeping on. At least he actively worked for Veterans and the VA.
  3. The first litmus test to determine who wrote a song is "melody & lyrics".  It gets hazy after that.  I seriously doubt 1% of the rock 'n roll "greats" could ever write a lyric like this, so take your ill-advised Bruce Springsteen dismissal and save it for Bryan Adams:

In the day we sweat it out on the streets of a runaway American dream
At night we ride through the mansions of glory in suicide machines
Sprung from cages out on highway nine,
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected, and steppin' out over the line
Baby this town rips the bones from your back
    It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap
We gotta get out while we're young
`Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run
Yes, girl we were Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend
I want to guard your dreams and visions
Just wrap your legs 'round these velvet rims
And strap your hands 'cross my engines
Together we could break this trap
We'll run till we drop, baby we'll never go back
Will you walk with me out on the wire
`Cause baby I'm just a scared and lonely rider
But I gotta know how it feels
I want to know if love is wild
Babe I want to know if love is real
Oh, can you show me Beyond the Palace hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard
Girls comb their hair in rearview mirrors
And the boys try to look so hard
The amusement park rises bold and stark
Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist
I wanna die with you Wendy on the street tonight
    In an everlasting kiss
One, two, three, four! The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive
Everybody's out on the run tonight
But there's no place left to hide
Together Wendy we can live with the sadness
I'll love you with all the madness in my soul
Someday girl I don't know when
We're gonna get to that place
    Where we really wanna go
And we'll walk in the sun
But till then tramps like us
Baby we were born to run
    Oh honey, tramps like us
Baby we were born to run

    Fuckin A!
  4. To be serious for a moment: I completely agree. The decision to pull out of Syria was a tipping point for Mattis, and I think it's a pretty clear indicator that Trump has lost the confidence of our military leadership. Until this point, they thought they could manage his illogical and impetuous whims. Now, Mattis has frankly said "Fuck it. I'm out."
Supposedly, Mattis was serving at the pleasure of the president out of duty for the good of the country. The fact that he up and quit says something. Surely, he wouldn't now leave the country in a moment of instability and abdicate that role, because he simply wants to wash his hands of it.
Maybe (and I realize I'm venturing into tin-foil land), as an administration insider, he has confidence that there's someone or something else that will ensure the "security, prosperity, and values" of our country as he put it in his resignation letter. Or, maybe, he simply believes it's all a lost cause and is going to hide in a shelter. If that's the case, then it's "Brisket time" which, personally, I just cannot accept.
I can't believe that a person who has devoted 40 years of service to this country would suddenly leave an "adult" vacuum in his wake unless he felt it would (or could) be competently filled by someone else under [.....?.....] circumstances. In other words, he may feel confident that we'll be okay and this shit-flinging orangutan will soon be out. Or he's given up all hope.
Without any insider knowledge, everything is sheer speculation at this point. We're all just guessing.

Or maybe he’s been privy to all the shit trump says behind closed doors. Trump is an incurable braggard- “Russia promised me ....”
At some point a Marine can’t participate in Treason.
  5. The discussion that triggered my disgust was about how the market tanking was the result of the Democrats winning the house in November.  That's all there is to it.  No other factors.

Ah yes the aggy brain trust! “The (black) president doesn’t effect the economy. Presidential actions take years to impact the economy.
    (Pivot seamlessly)
“ The economy is all Trump. My vast knowledge of economics conclude that blue votes equal bad economy instantly.”

I like the theory that Dems will deliberately tank the economy for a run at 2020
  6. I'm generally not a full subscriber to Brisket's doom and gloom, but man I went over to Texags yesterday just for the hell of it.  And he is probably right.  Part of America is just living in an alternative, make-believe reality.  Scary, really.

You piqued my curiosity so I went over to that cesspool. Brilliant discussion of the greater efficacy (at much lower costs!) of using land mines on the border in lieu of a wall. They correctly surmise that exploding “ninos” would be a strong deterrent.

  7. The fact that families uproot their kids and walk hundreds of miles to get to our country is a pretty good sign that they're fighters and that they have the desire to love the USA and be a part of it. Seems like a good thing.
Just like everything else, we don't find ways to make it work. We just kick the can down the road and traumatize immigrant children and their parents.

    And incentivize human smuggling.
  8. He's a consistent neg-repper as well.
The amount of self-loathing involved....man, I don't want to ever see all the way inside that head of his.

Yikes, I’ve always ignored him and thought he was doing an exaggerated trolling joke persona.
  9. If she were *too* attractive, it would have aroused too much suspicion (and boners).  She's still out of that dude's league, but not conspicuously and laughably so.

This is correct. Perfect fit for her mark. With makeup and the right clothes she looks way better, but the homely style is perfect for her audience.
  10. Correction: During the Gulf War. His approval rating after the war fell when people noticed the economy was in the shitter. If he had sustained the war through the election then he would've won a second term.
Dubya made sure not to make the same mistake.

I recall SNL had a skit roughly called “who will be the democratic candidate to loose to Bush”

2 years is a long time in politics
  11. All of that said, if anyone does get a car, get the gps. Also Waze works pretty good there too if you’ve got service. Other than highways there are no street names and no numbering systems so directions can get a little tricky.

”take a right at the church go 10 miles to the bridge and then take a left. Take a right when you see the cows and then you’ll see the hotel”

That’s no shit. “Turn right at the bar that burned down 10 years ago. “

And review GPS before you follow it. Google maps has taken me over some tiny winding roads which may be a few miles shorter but take hours longer.

  12. Yes. See that 33% approval rating?
when you go to pick up the car they tack on taxes, fees, insurance. By the time you are done you’ll be closer to 100 a day. Parking is a pain in the ass in Manuel Antonio.
Also, that Sunday drive back to the airport will be in terrible traffic with all the locals returning from the beach. Is going to add an extra hour.

Yep all rental places ratchet up the price when you show up, or they don’t have the car etc. That said I paid about $350 for a 4wd SUV for 8 days no issue. I prefer the freedom.

And yes it’s always an extra hour to the airport in Sunday’s or holidays. And there is always a wreck somewhere the rest of the time.
  13. I see SlenderMan made the trip as well.

I don’t get that reference but holy shit that’s classic “evil henchmen” bad posture. That dude should mix in some stretches between running the world and eating small furry creatures alive for fun.
  14. What is Trump’s ultimate end game here? So long as he and his people are in power, they can interfere with and potentially defer accountability, but unless he’s authoritarian president for life, the bill will come due at some point. That’s the moment he’ll burn the country down to avoid, and that’s the scariest part of all this.

The mindset of a basic asshole behind on their credit. Whatever is necessary to keep the charade going as long a possible. On hustle (con) to the next.
