  1. Wow. Yeah. Absolutely gripping. Every decision the show runners made about when he was gonna go and how it was going to happen/be shown was an absolute master class in making the audience feel just as out-of-the-blue gut-punched as the siblings. Make it happen in episode 3 (not your typical "something big happens" episode) Not showing him "go down." The bad phone connection. Not actually showing him until the very end. The fact that it was on a plane over the ocean where you just have to wait for them to get back. Plus, I'll have to go back and look, but I think the initial shot of the kids finding out was one continuous shot (no cuts). Just a master class. Incredible.
  2. This is almost every Star Wars complaint boiled down into two sentences... generally the "problem" is that fans judge the shows based on what they THINK they should be, not what they actually are. Mandalorian wasn't "supposed to be a space western." It was supposed to be Star Wars. That's it. And Star Wars sometimes borrows from Westerns. And Samurai movies. And spy movies. And war movies. And mythology. And religion. And on and on and on. It's ALL of those things and very often people don't like it when it veers away from the influences they like into the influences they don't like. This season of Mando is leaning HARD into Mandalorian mythology. It's like a classic 5-6 episode story arc of Clone Wars that leans hard into some very obscure and specific part of Star Wars lore.
  3. Holy shit. I just watched this to completion.
  4. Yeah really the deal with Mandos all along is that there are always multiple factions with varying allegiances fighting each other.
  5. Seems like the Mando mercenaries almost certainly are who busted Moff Gideon out...(there was the line about "we do whatever if the price is right")... and the episode was titled "Hired Guns.".... So my guess is that the Mando mercenaries were hired by Thrawn to bust out Gideon and were given the light Imperial cruiser as payment.
  6. This was my guess after that episode aired. And yeah with two episodes left, my guess is that both will be solidly focused on setting up the Ashoka show. I think it's very possible we get an Ashoka and Sabine appearance and probably a Thrawn reveal in the last episode. I would bet they save the Ezra reveal for the Ashoka show.
  7. Every day that passes it becomes more and more clear that Yormark has been playing 4D chess to Kliavkoff's Candyland. PAC is fucking toast.
  8. Ummm ok. Sorry for actually paying attention to the show I’m watching I guess. I know it’s a lot easier to poke holes in the narrative if you don’t actually, you know, listen to the narrative.
  9. This is definitely a possibility, but I believe they would also need Sandy/Stewey votes to oust Logan and make Kendall CEO wouldn't they? I don't recall the exact number of board seats, but I think it's really these seven that matter: Kendall Roman Shiv Sandy Sandy Stewey Logan The kids only account for 3 of the 7 key Board votes... and I believe there are also supposed to be at least 2-3 other external directors so just the 3 kids can't get something through... they will need the 3 votes from Sandy/Stewey... now if they have 6 votes they should be good assuming there are no more than 10 total directors. It's definitely a high-risk move to assume that Sandy/Stewey will go along with it, but it's definitely something Kendall is reckless enough to try, lol.
  10. I think it was 100% him sensing weakness in Mattson and ALSO knowing that they are massively over-paying for Pierce, so if he senses the opportunity to squeeze out another couple hundred million out of the deal he's going to try and do it. I don't think that he (Kendall) thinks that pushing for more will blow the deal. He's thinking Mattson's whole "I'll just walk away" thing is a negotiating tactic because that's what he's used to ... I think the issue may be that Mattson WILL walk away. And I'm not really sure how that would "fuck" Logan. All that does is give him his entire company back and we're right back to where we were. Logan has the company and the power and the kids are back to being subordinate to him because they sure and shit can't buy Pierce without cashing out after the Gojo deal.
  11. Yeah and hopefully we’ll start playing a non-conference series as well.
  12. LOL that wasn’t supposed to be the “entire population of the planet of Navarro”… it was supposed to be what was left of the city after the aerial bombardment from the pirate guy. And it looks less “lived in” and less “gritty” because the idea is that the city/planet/etc. was “cleaned up” and got a big infusion of money once the Imperial Remenant was driven away and Grief was in charge. I mean they literally talked about that in the first episode when Mando even commented about Navarro being “nice” all of a sudden.
  13. SOOOOOOOO much this. This is one of the great things about Star Wars. I loved the shit out of Andor but I’m also loving the shit out of Mando. Both are really good at what they are trying to do. Andor is a 1970s spy/Cold War movie set in Star Wars, which is fucking awesome. As someone said above, Mando is basically a live-action extension of the Filoni shows and I’m here for that as well.
  14. Great series from two really good teams. Man - I have to say that OSU/Texas baseball may be the series I missed the most when y’all go to the SEC. Two really great programs and it always seems practically every game is a close nail-biter.
  15. Yes pretty much. Nan Pierce (and family) are supposed to be representing aristocratic "old money" New Englanders... in that they are rich as fuck but want to pretend like they aren't, throwing around transparent platitudes like "we don't like to talk about money" or "this whole thing is so vulgar".... etc., etc., but meanwhile they are just as relentless in getting what they want and increasing their wealth as the Roys.
  16. Little of column A, little of column B?
  17. "Very heartening.... I'm very heartened..."
  18. Bullpen does need to be better, but losing the Tech series also felt kind of fluky. We dominated them 2/3 games and just lost that Friday night game because of a handful of ill-timed errors for a team that has been rock-solid in the field all year. To put it in perspective, we gave up 4 unearned runs in that single game and have only given up 17 unearned runs in 24 other games this season. Yes they still won the series and it still counts obviously, but we had that series won save for a few uncharacteristically stupid errors. Texas series this weekend should be a lot of fun. Weekend weather is looking mostly pretty nice so hopefully O’Brate will be packed out.
  19. I'm not sure exactly the criteria, but being in the conversation as one of the all-time great SNL cast members, plus: Airheads Billy Madison Happy Gilmore Big Daddy The Wedding Singer The Waterboy And yeah there were some stinkers and paycheck movies after that, but a lot of those films have been extremely popular... plus he's made some really good dramatic turns in Punch Drunk Love, Funny People and Uncut Gems. All-in-all I'd say he's had a great career, and as has been discussed, he's apparently just a a great guy so I'm happy for him.
  20. I've been listening to the Dana Carvey/David Spade "Fly on the Wall" podcast for a while now... it's been fun listening to all of the guys tell stories about that era of SNL. One thing that comes across universally is everyone's love of Sandler. They all talk about what a good guy he is how he's basically been extremely generous with all of his family and friends over the years. Yeah he may just be cashing paychecks for a lot of his movies over the past 15 years or so, but goddamn his stuff from the 90s is so great. He gets a fee pass for life in my book just because of that.
  21. Apparently she doesn’t think much of this George fellow… I recall the word “loser” peppered throughout the conversation…
  22. Fucking fantastic start. Stray thoughts: The Tom/Greg stuff was gold as always. That said, Greg is getting a little too cocky. Something bad’s gonna happen to him, outside of explaining to Logan about finger-banging the bridge-and-tunnel chick in his house. Was fun to see the three sibling working together. Shiv has basically treated Tom like shit since, well, the start of the show. And yet he clearly still loves her. That’s probably going to be Tom’s undoing at the end of the day. The kids over-bidding for Pierce is gonna bite them in the ass, without question. I have no idea what the end game is here, but it’s gonna be fun to find out how it goes.
  23. This is kind of where I'm at. Bo Kotan has mostly been considered "good" within the Mando show, but she certainly wasn't that (at least initially) in Clone Wars. She's always been a gray character who is mostly self-interested.
