  1. Anatomy of a Fall. French film I hadn't heard anything about other than seeing it on the Alamo Drafthouse website. A bit of a murder mystery/courtroom drama that toes the line to thriller. Really liked it. At times the courtroom scenes felt like a 90s trial movie throwback, and overall enjoyed watching the story unfold.

  2. Before last year, when they brought in FInaly, I never thought I'd like him as much as I do, but he sure feels like the soul of this team now. Especially with a rough year on offense, he just works, and finds a way (when other, much more expensive options that won't be named but are definitely from Argentina, can't).

I don’t watch boxing and have never seen Fury before the clips online this morning? How the fuck is a fat, slow, unathletic looking dude the heavyweight champion? Was there a mass a exodus of talent to UFC

I guess you haven't seen a heavyweight UFC fight in a while either. Take a look at some of their contenders like Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa and report back. The depth of the division just isn't there...... but also it's the most barbaric and basic division of them all, because hard punch to head beat muscle body many time.

Any chance pop can get rid of Collins. I hate his game

That was a bit rough for him last night. We just extended his contract a few days ago, so good luck with that, but he did look bad in spots. Throwing up 3s that didn't look confident at all, we were outrebounded when it counted most, and he got frustrated somewhere in the 3rd where you could tell he was losing his cool. He'll have to settle back down into his role as the 4th or 5th option.

Lakers looked like nothing of a championship team. Especially with their top 3 or 4 in west hype going into this season.

Shit bench, no point guard, lebron can’t play 35 MPG and brow will go down sometime

I only watched the first half and I counted 3 instances where Pop would've called a timeout to bitch at D'Angelo Russell. 2 iso's that didn't look like part of the offense at all, and a 3-pointer off a fast break without waiting for a single teammate to get back for a rebound (missed). I wouldn't want that for a starting PG, he's a black hole.

This is wrong. This team isn’t 2006-2009 talented, especially not when banged up. Every game is gonna be a dogfight from here on out.

Maalik also missed his spring camp due to injury, he’s had to overhaul his throwing mechanics, and learn a completely new offense on top of that. He was a complete project coming out of HS.

He's likely not ready yet, but hopefully he knows enough of the playbook to keep defenses honest until Quinn comes back.

I'm willing to bet whoever pulled the trigger on an offer to Maalik from UT, Michigan, Alabama, Ohio St., Oregon, had a scouting projection that DIDN'T read: "this kid has no tools, no mechanics, and is a COMPLETE PROJECT but I have a hunch.... we should offer yesterday." I get your sentiment, but to be a P5 offer you literally have to be more than a "complete project," so this was a weird way to say he wasn't polished at 17.

I strayed away from watching the Spurs much the last two years since they were dumping in preparation for rebuilding.

I tuned in early last week to see what’s been assembled. What a young, strange roster. It was entertaining to watch Wemby.

I’m not quite sure what I was seeing. Is it a roster that’s going to grow up together and in year 3 contend for a title? Or, is it a half assembled roster that needs to ship out a few young guys in exchange for a veteran point guard and strong scorer?  I can’t get a sense on the plan.

They weren't dumping as much as stockpiling, and I'm high on Vassell and Sochan. Keldon Johnson will play a huge part too (but I agree with some that he may be a biiit more expendable) and I'm excited to see how much they all grow together. Zach Collins still has potential for improvement too, and I like him at the 5. He'll be playing to cement himself as the long-term option after this year.

The more I watch Wemby, the more I wonder if we'll still be pining for a veteran scoring option after the all-star break this year. He might be the go-to scoring option to close out games before we can even sign or entertain another #1 scoring option. Vassell might get there as well, I'm expecting a huge jump from him.

  8. I liked it. Didn't love it, and thought the story got flimsy at points, but it was great to look at and escape to that setting for a bit, and the plot was fine enough for a movie that didn't drag on for 2.5 hours or more.

I had no idea who the director was, but at different points I thought "oh this looks just like (the newer Terminator movies), (Apocalypse Now), (Rogue One)".... then turns out he's the Rogue One guy. I guess I didn't even hate that he borrowed so many looks from other movies and other sci-fi, it was still pretty decent.

For all of Blake Wesley’s faults on offense, that dude plays his ass off on defense. Multiple times last night (and in previous games) he created turnovers and disrupted the hell out of whatever side of the court he inhabited. The Spurs will not be the worst defensive team in NBA history this season (more due to Wemby, Sochan, Vassell, than to Blake but whatever).

I think I read this on twitter too. I like the versatility if he's going to be a defensive stopper against the 2nd teams. I feel like Sochan will be used along with the bench a lot, so if Wesley can step up and help slow down whoever the opponent's sparkplug off the bench is, it'll make us a lot stronger.

Looking forward to Friday and see if Wemby gets above 20 minutes. And Sir'Jabari too.

  10. Charlo disappointed me. His brother would have probably fared worse. Now I'm not going to be able to hear them speak about lions and run that whole "chip on the shoulder" mentality as anything other than 100% bluff. Hope Crawford shuns him for that fight too. He doesn't deserve to be rewarded after that heartless performance. If he doesn't take on Tszyu, then he has no dance partner left really.

Still don't like Benavidez for Canelo. I see him being too big and long like Bivol was. Canelo is just strong, and looks natural at 168, but honestly doesn't belong fighting big 168ers. He's not tall or long enough.

I enjoyed the finale. It was a sweet ending to a great show. I'm sure Sterling could've kept it going but sometimes it's better to leave on top and with a sense of fulfilment. I'm glad William Knifeman returned for one last interaction. I think the kids are going to be alright.

Pretty much this. Surprised a bit at how everybody has some direction now that I think about it, and it was a pretty solid ending to include some passing of the cultural torch. Cheese and Willie Jack become elders and ease the transition. Elora found an outer calling. Bear is too much of a personality to stay too long too, maybe he and the gf spread their wings. Very enjoyable show from season 1, this will go down as one of my favorites. Maybe not Top 3-5 status, but enough for me to mention it and think of it if someone asks my favorite shows.

JC was a burner and a slasher. Brooks is a physical back who has some speed. He is not a poor man's JC, he is a rich man's Keontay Ingram.

There's not enough comparisons on this thread so I'm going to say he reminds me a lot of Joe Bergeron.

Camar Wheaton LJ Johnson were the top RB targets in that 2021 class. Wheaton got hurt and was never the same, and LJ has done nothing. Brooks turned out to be the best back in Texas that year.

I never would've thought that 2 years later both them fools would be JAGs at SMU and here's Brooks grabbing the lead back job by the horns.

He runs strong and with balance, I really like watching him. I know Sark is super high on CJ (and his pedigree speaks for itself being a 5 star), but watching Brooks during the Alabama and Wyoming games made me a believer. If its not there, he'll put his head down and fight for 2-3. But you give him daylight and he'll turn it into a huge chunk.

Regardless whether it’s actually CDC or not, someone up there pays attention to social media….so pile on any chance you get. See a couple of the comments

Grant Pinkerton tweeted CDC on Wednesday or Thursday about playing "If you're gonna play in Texas" so that our crowd could try and copy Alabama's state song shtick in Tuscaloosa, and lo and behold, that was played during the game. So CDC definitely uses Twitter/X a lot for feed back. It would be lot better to reach him there than getting this thread to 5 pages.

Idk how I feel about that song. I understand Texas is Texas, but my Texas is a little less that Texas, and not sure I want to copy Alabama or West Virginia or whoever else's "southern good ol boy" themed singalong. No offense to John Denver, I get it's a classic.

Yeah, the guy on the field was awful.

We had multiple drunk af WY fans around us that eventually got tossed for try to incite a riot with the entire section.

Were you in 31? There were some pussies behind me looking for attention all damn game and then quietly exited without a peep at the beginning of the 4th. They didn't say a damn thing to me or the other 6 foot tall Longhorn standing right in front of them (except for the drunkest making chit chat at halftime asking when I thought we'd win another championship "I'm not talking shit, just wondering what your fans think"), but kept starting shit with another 5'5" longhorn down their aisle. Making Fuck Texas comments all game, SEC comments. Just to fucking quit early in the 4th. You can be human trash, but to be human trash AND a bad fan after following your team halfway across the country? Fuck outta here.

There was a group of 10 40s/50s a few rows in front of us that seemed to be just fine. Kept to themselves and stayed and chilled for the whole game, but the single dudes were mostly yokels.
