A game of inches. 4th down, we hold there and it's still 24-10, and the defense does their best work of the day, holding Vandy scoreless on a 38-yard field gifted to them by the Texas O. Vandy really benefitted from some stupid luck, timely penalties and incredibly stupid personal fouls on our end to keep it within 14.

    Whittaker completely over matched

It was sad to watch, but won't mind seeing Khamzat for the belt. I don't know who is strong enough to keep him off though. Would love to see him beat strickland first.

Main event was rough. Holloway was doing just fine. Putting on a striking clinic at times. Then.... bam. Topuria's power gotta start entering rare territory in UFC lore.

Is colorado good or is the big 12 really shitty?

A little of both. They don't have to play undefeated BYU or undefeated Iowa State. The only team in the top 3 of the conference they lost to by 3 (KSU), while also needing OT to get by Baylor.

I think this game against Tech will solidify if they belong in that Top 4 or are just like the rest of the middle of the pack (which is a lot of schools). They have earned the right to prove it at this point, imo.

  4. I'm fine with the defense today. Offense gave them a 2nd straight game of "fuck you clean up our shit." And that TD at the end would have had a lot smaller likelihood of happening if Broughton doesn't go full regard. Moore looked good, Ant looked good, the speed of the defense was on display again keeping Pavia from breaking anything big after that initial touchdown. The coverage was very sticky tonight too.

we have one very big glaring weakness at RT in pass pro. i wonder if we are trying to cover for that (and lowering effectiveness elsewhere)

between the penalties and getting horsefucked by edge rushers - 56 should be benched.

He was a 1st round pick 2 weeks aqo. Absolutely stunning turnaround by him. My hat's off.

haha we suck. Rodo is full of shit when he says stuff like YOU WOULDNT BELIEVE WHO CALLED ME INTERESTED IN PLAYING/COACHING FOR AUSTIN FC

    https://www.givemesport.com/austin-fc-nico-estevez-head-coach/

Exactly my thoughts. How underwhelming. Didn't go to one game this year, had gone to 3-4 each of the first few seasons. The team didn't play with heart, the coach didn't seem to have control of the team, lacking leadership and desire. Now the GM contributes to the lack of inspiration?

  7. Sturgill's ACL taping is on Monday. Giveaway link is here: https://acltv.com/tapings/. Actually went to my first ACL taping a couple weeks ago to see Carin Leon while he was in town for the festival. That venue is awesome, the show was great, and I would be incredibly stoked to see Sturgill on that stage (even after catching him at the fest), so fingers crossed and if anybody wins with an unused+1........

Look at the initial rush. LG gets pushed back 5 yards off the LOS. Quinn feels that and moves back and right. It's hard FOR ME to fault a QB when the d-line pushes the LOS 5 yards into the backfield.

Brother that's a win for the LG, I don't know what you're on. He got "pushed" back like two steps then anchored. Strong rep.

  9. I got big questions after tonight. Took my time hopping off the bandwagon but I'm just not sold on the dude at this point in the season. There's a number of college QBs that Sark can make into stars with good blocking and a solid run game. Quinn isn't pushing that ceiling unfortunately. And yes his deep ball is not reliable, to say the least.

Luckily for us there's not a lot of Dline that can whoop out ass like that, but when the time comes to make the playoff, we're going to be praying for "good" Quinn.

"they couldn't get me, because I said 'peacefully and patriotically.'"  Fucking knockoff mobster.

I heard that shit too. And his knockoff fucking henchmen of ill-educated clowns who not only failed but got one of themselves killed in the process. They knew exactly what he meant when he said "patriotically", to them that's a incendiary word, absolving them of any decency because they get to hide behind the flag instead of uplifting and strengthening it. Selling their souls for a grifter.

  11. Ran into this little breakdown last night, thought it was really interesting. Been hearing about the shift to position-less since last year, but cool to see it in action. It's obvs not exactly position less, because Wemby needs to be positioned around the basket on defense at all times so he can lead the league in blocks, but being able to switch 1-3 and hound mfers into submission should be fun to watch. The interview quotes with everyone seemingly bought into the defensive intensity is also great to hear.

Quoting you just because it's the most recent post along these lines. I wonder if this Texas team is just so good that we're making decent teams look horrendous. Colorado State is 3-3. ULM is 5-1(!). Mississippi State just gave Georgia all they can handle.

Part of it is that as fans we can see that this team still hasn't fully clicked but we're still destroying teams so they must be completely awful. But what this post presupposes is, what if they aren't?

I love this part of the season. Because it's the obvious antidote to the "they haven't played anybody yet" nonsense. You don't know until week 4-6 who is who. And our resume just keeps looking better (much like last year imo).

100% this a big problem in this country. When my older daughter was in high school, there were wealthy Mexican families (who had moved to Austin to escape the crazy) and they would throw HS parties. All the American teenage boys would show up in shorts and jerseys. The Mexican teenage boys looked so much more respectable in dress pants and jackets. It was embarrassing.

I was just talking to a friend a couple weeks ago about a mutual connection (late 20s) from one of those Mexican families who "runs logistics" for his daddy's company (goes out every night, fucks off every day and spends all his money on vices from the apartment his daddy pays for). Idk why it took me so long to realize that nepotism breeds mamones in whatever country you're from. They might dress better but they're not reinventing the wheel on privileged lifestyles. Work ethic and instilling values is going to breed "respectable" human beings no matter how you dress them. Not every slapdick in a blazer is worthy of adoration, surprise surprise.

hell aggy has plenty of grown men still whooping and donating money to their fake army, what the shit do I give a fuck how a stranger dresses.

Whatever you do, don't count on watching the game in the beer tent at ACL.  I tried last year -- total zoo.  No viewing angles if you hadn't been there camping out for a good while.

This is unfortunate. Was definitely my plan, but now I can hope to have sufficient signal to stream on my phone.

Geese turned out to be one of my big "never heard this band but they kick ass" surprises.  The Criticals were good..  BALTHVS was great and I may go back to Antone's to see them this week.  Still Woozy was meh.  Khurangbin was awesome although the Khruangbin / BALTHVS similarities are weird (yes, we know who was first) despite BALTHVS having a harder, more psychedelic sound.  Jungle was one of the best shows of the weekend.  Then we caught a bit of Pretty Lights before going to Dua.  Not kidding but 95% of the festival was at Dua with 5% at Pretty Lights.  People talk about the Chappell Roan crowd but Dua was bigger.

    Yeah... I'm working backwards...

Enjoyed Saint Cecilia.  Good to see a band really getting their start.  Sir Chloe has a good sound... I like her music.  She's a little offputting just in her vibe.  Mannequin Pussy one of the best shows of the weekend - so so good! Foster the People put on a fantastic show, Elderbrook was good but not mindblowing... I don't know... and then Porter Robinson was better than I expected.  By that point on Monday, our son was whining incessantly and we left before Blink or Stapleton.  I got a full 3 days in though... it was a great weekend!

Saw Jungle at the Moody Amphiteater Friday and it was a lot of fun. It will be very hard for me to pass on their ACL set after having that great of a time, but Vince Staples had a great album this year.... . Decisions to be made.

Probably taking the Glass Beams rec for Sunday since I don't have much I'm dying to see before Sturgill. Geese seems like they'd be cool but that's cutting it close to kickoff and there's no decision to be made there.

The speed in which he goes through progressions/makes decisions vs Quinn is noticeable, but damn if he isn't light years ahead of any "back up" we've had had in a long long time

I can feel like he can take a bit too much time making progressions,  but when the o line gives him time, he's going to make the right decision. Quinn is ahead on processing time, but Arch's footwork and pocket maneuvering in only his 2nd year was incredible today. That crossing route he hit after shuffling away from one defender..... He's got the technique down.

It already has in many ways.  I'm enjoying our seasons to be sure, but I was shocked at the start of the season to find out our top FOUR receivers are all transfers that came in after last season.

Likewise. I've been a Longhorn football fan for as long as I've watched football, and a Longhorn basketball fan for as long as I've watched basketball. Last year I watched as little basketball as I ever have because the majority of the starters (and overall minutes) were transfers. Rentals. I dont know exactly what that information did to me, but I care a lot less now.  I think what keeps me into football is that the rosters are too big and Texas talent is too fruitful for it to lose its connection to Texas, so we at least will always have a handful of guys that love representing their state and grew up wanting to be Longhorns. Shit, even Arch is as faithful a longhorn as any, wanting to be here even as a child. I know I'm being naive placing my own Texas/UT pride into these kids, but knowing that some of them share that with me is a huge selling point for me personally.

OU program and fans fell victim to the backup complex.  They went 10-2 in the regular season with DG with a bit of a surprise win over Texas, losses to KU and OSU and some close shaves with the likes of BYU and UCF.  So they thought they could do better.  They were wrong.

Exactly. Gabriel might be a B+ NCAA QB, but you gotta take a kid (grown man?) with that much experience that can steer the ship. QB and O line rely so much on experience, ask the Mannings, that's why they're fine with Arch waiting his turn.
