  1. My wife hates to fly, absolutely hates it. Freaks out the whole time. But she still flies all of the time with me - has to self medicate to do it though.
  2. Definitely seeing more Cruz signs in Midland in the last week, but seeing more Beto signs as well. Everything seems to be amping up. Still surprised by the number of Beto signs in Midland.
  3. I remember something like that too, but I'm too lazy to go look at the game tape for it.
  4. Saw my first Cruz signs in Midland yesterday while walking the dogs. Sign count - Beto 4, Cruz 2. Midland will still go 80% for Cruz, but it's nice to see a small bit of energy out here in depressingly bright red country for Beto.
  5. 10/25 - Ghostland Observatory at Stubbs 10/26 - White Denim at Mohawk Looking forward to trekking to Austin for that doubleheader.
  6. Yup, this. Went to a Beers for Beto thing a few weeks back in Midland and there was some dude there running for county commissioner or somesuch. Dude couldn't even bother to put on a clean shirt, nearly looked like a homeless man, but he's putting on a stump speech at the Beto event. This guy has 0.00% chance of winning anything in Midland County, but there he was. Felt like a waste of time and potential dilution of the message to be tying that guy to Beto and I'd rather not see that sort of thing right now.
  7. Visited the in-laws in Oak Hill (south Austin for those who don't know) and was amazed by the number of Beto signs. Saw 2 Cruz signs and literally dozens of Beto signs in their neighborhood. Of course, Beto needs to do big business in places like Austin if he hopes to win, but I was amazed at the sheer number of signs.
  8. Interesting little anecdote from my Facebook feed this morning. Every couple of days I'll post something about Beto, positive supportive stuff. An old Air Force friend of mine who is a big time gun nut conservative type from out of state will always use my post as a reason to launch into a bunch of standard right wing butt hurt attacks against Beto, libruls, etc. Of course I engage because I just can't help myself. Yesterday we had a long conversation that got rather heated when I invoked Trump, lying, etc. This morning, a number of friends chimed in to defend me which is always nice, but I was shocked when a very VERY conservative buddy chimed in to say that he agreed with me about Cruz's negative politics. Said that despite agreeing pretty much 100% on Cruz's policy points, he is very disappointed in how he is running his campaign. Shocked this shit out of me. He'll never vote for Beto, but it was interesting to see that Cruz isn't necessarily winning any friends amongst the more thoughtful conservatives out there.
  9. Fuck, the Russians have invaded Texas!
  10. Well said. This, plus my general lack of faith in the whole God thing, is why I'm no longer a Christian and closer to an atheist than anything else. Grew up in a Christian home with a father who was a pastor but I'm done with it all. And I'm done with the party who has co-opted (or been co-opted by) the evangelicals like my parents. You are correct that there are many Christians doing good things around the world. I just lean towards thinking that humanity can come up with a system that provides a venue for such good works without all of the negatives that come along with religion. I think I'd enjoy a conversation with you and your pastor wife.
  11. Saw another Beto sign in my little Midland neighborhood last night. I'm not naive enough to think Midland is anywhere close to going blue, but that's two more democratic signs than I've ever seen before and still no Cruz signs. I think it speaks to the energy felt by Beto supporters and the apathy felt by Cruz supporters combined with the fact that many Republicans probably don't want to admit that they support Cruz so they'll just quietly vote for him.
  12. We may suck, but don’t count on the crowd being quiet Saturday night. It’ll be electric.
  13. Buddy just took his wife and two kids to Holbox. They loved it. Very laid back, main street is still dirt, was a total mud pit after a big rain.
  14. Seems like they need to shut down entrances as sections get close to filling up
  15. Fucking flying Bevo is so badass!
  16. God dammit. Is everyone on this board a lawyer? (yeah, I’m one too)
  17. Yeah, I'm coming around to that point. It's not easy to admit you've been buying a lie for most of your life.
  18. Think I'm gonna stick around Dallas after the OU game for this.
  19. This 100%. As a former Republican voter, I'd love to see the Republican party get back to its roots (or at least to what it claims are its roots) of limited government, fiscal responsibility, individual liberty and responsibility, etc. I'm likely never going back to them, but it would still be nice to see. The only way it happens is if folks who support them start going against them out of disgust for how they have been operating. Continuing to vote for the corrupt status quo will just encourage the bad behavior.
  20. Fuck off dude. I said she doesn't like politics, in fact she typically just turns the channel if anything political comes on the news. She's not very informed on the issues, so seeing someone explain what was going on in a rational way that took it beyond the knee jerk "those guys are disrespecting the national anthem/troops/flag" bullshit that she typically hears from her dad and others helped her understand. His whiteness had nothing to do with that issue, although I'm sure she thinks he's sexy. So again, fuck off.
