Given his proximity to her before/after and the burning of the personal effects, wouldn't it have occurred to the defense to curry favor with the judge to ask him about what/who he might have seen that night?  If he didn't do it, but given his locale and timing, maybe he saw who did do it.  Now that the evidence is being dismissed, it's too late to ask him since that was almost two years ago.  If your guy didn't do it, what does it hurt to ask him about what he saw since everybody can put him near her that night.

Don’t think it’s a good defense strategy to put your client near the scene if you don’t have to. They may argue that it’s impossible to tell if it’s really him there from the video.

  2. My friend in college got arrested for DWI and had to spend almost a day in jail because his parents didn't know that you actually do have to give your credit card info over the phone to accept any call from jail. They thought they were being scammed.

How many players go from the All-Star game to A-ball in less than a year?

He's going to A-Ball to because that's where the Twins extended spring training coaching staff is and they can better help him with his swing, not because the Twins feel he's an A-ball talent. He's also got a well documented attitude, work ethic, and weight problem, and he dealt with that (now proven false) sexual assault accusation in the off-season. He's not exactly a typical case.

  4. Take any 8-10 players at the midway point of the year, and some of them will have a decline in the second half of the season. HR derby participants are no different, they just get amplified more because people want to push the baseless and stupid "HR derby ruins people" theory.

i was thinking fat people but i see where your mind is.

Places with high numbers of fats are where you want to be, I've never understood why people use that as a knock against an area. If you're skinny you look that much better. And I'd like to see a list of places with low obesity rates that also have great food. I'll wait.

el paso, san antonio, the whole entire rio grande valley, all of mississippi, all of alabama, yada, yada, yada.  the left a bunch of shitty ass places off that list.

Ok Trump. Just because a place has a lot of mexicans doesn't make it a shithole. El Paso & the valley don't have the level of crime needed to be true shitholes. San Antonio is a pretty damn nice place to raise a family if you're not a drug-dealer or gang member.

Also the valley has great food, a nice beach, and a pleasant unambitious vibe to it that makes it a relaxing place to be. Not the dire hopeless vibe you get in other places with a ton of poverty.

  7. Saw it over the weekend. I'd give it like a 7.3/10, pretty good but kind of a dumb plot. Spoiler kind of:

The whole scene where the mom dreamt of walking into the son's room with the ants was very well done. Pretty fucking horrifying.

Was Austin LBJ a powerhouse back then or something? 4 players on the UT roster. Actually there's a bunch of AISD dudes there. Hard to imagine nowadays.

I contemplate the morality of suicide.  (I’m not suicidal and quite a happy person).

I get suicide for those that are terminally ill and understand suicide for those that are mentally ill.

I do not understand suicide for those that get in a personal or, say, a financial bind.  Anecdote:  A guy I knew went broke and was on the line for some serious debt and offed himself, leaving behind a wife and 2 girls.  To me, that route seemed selfish, pride filled and immoral.

    What says Surly?

I'm someone that has dealt heavily with suicidal thoughts in the past. I can tell you that for me, I had convinced myself that the "immoral" thing to do was to continue on living. I had that much self-hate. You tell yourself that you're a burden on everyone you love and it's selfish to be alive, because when you die everyone will be better off. You can't possibly imagine a future where things are better or even different, so you lose all hope.

Too bad for him and the Yankees his GB% is at a career high and his contact% is at a career low this season.

The Yankees were steamrolling along while he struggled, so there’s no worries there. Now he’s finally starting to heat up big time in the past week or so after his horrendous start. Prepare your butts.

  11. I think The Beatles fucking suck. I told a friend this and he said something about how "they revolutionized music, they were the first band of their kind. They were amazing". Well by that logic I guess the Wright Brothers are the greatest pilots of all time? Stupid.

I enjoyed watching Johnny Manziel play in college.

The DH is awesome and the NL should have it.

Saving Private Ryan is monumentally overrated after the first 20 minutes.

God Bless America is possibly the worst song I've ever heard. It also has no true historical or patriotic importance.

LeBron is better than MJ ever was.

San Antonio is overall the best city in Texas.

The bean & cheese taco is in my opinion the worst thing that whites have ever done to Mexican culture. You guys might not have invented it but it sure seems to be all your favorite breakfast taco. It's completely disgusting in every way.

  12. I believe the Cabrini Row Houses are still standing. Blocks and blocks of an abandoned former housing project surrounded by a trendy hipster neighborhood. From what I heard from a friend it's about as close to a post-apocalyptic lawless cityscape as you can find in any developed country. I'd check it out, how often can you see something like that?

I'm guessing there was a white boy named Rick in Detroit in 1984. The rest is all embellishment.

It's based on the life of Richard Wershe Jr, who became the youngest FBI informant ever at age 14. He really did grow up dealing cocaine on the streets of Detroit. So it's basically a movie about a snitch.

The thought of having a gun safety program in school would be met with histrionics (unfortunately). Hell, I was on the Rifle Team in HS. Does that even exist anymore?

Yes, JROTC programs still have them. However I wasn't in high school that long ago, and the big thing for the JROTC kids was making the Drill team. No one really cared about Rifle, and from the attention/turnout at the competitions that seemed to be the case at the other schools too. I imagine it's still the same now.

NEISD here in SA announced that middle and high schoolers will need clear backpacks starting next year.  Of course, band cases, purses, and athletic bags are still OK.

That's such a stupid "solution". If you pack enough shit in a clear backpack you can still conceal a gun. Also, I can't think of a big school shooting where the shooter hid his guns in a backpack. I can think of at least 2 where the shooter hid his gun in a guitar case (Northern Illinois & Parkland). Then you have Columbine where the shooters made no attempt to conceal their weapons.

Yankees are talking about boycotting ESPN.

    USA Today article

They are upset that ESPN is moving a Sunday game in Toronto from 1:00 to a night game, when they have a doubleheader scheduled the next day in Baltimore.

The game isn't until July 8, so it might get moved back. MLB office and MLBPA are negotiating with ESPN.

ESPN bent the knee, game now moved to 1pm. Also the Yankees just lost SP Jordan Montgomery for the next couple years to TJ surgery. Domingo German to take his spot long term at the moment.

Sutcliffe is an assclown blowhard.  Basically an unpolitical Schilling.

Quit listening to him, and more importantly, quit posting his idiocy here.

(Irony: Sutcliffe and Schilling are two of my favorite players ever.)

It takes everything I have to not neg you for saying Schilling is one of your favorite players. He's up there next to Ray Lewis as my most hated athlete of all-time. Both just reprehensible scumsacks of human shit. I want to go find my Schilling "bloody sock" rant on shaggyverse now. Cool story and all that, I know.
