  1. Cool thread as this stuff was just before my time.  As I cycle through the videos, I'm having all kinds of flashbacks.  For example, I'm pretty sure my first crush was of Joy on the Buggaloos.

My wife and I are both teachers.  Today her school had field day.  She came home acting like her school's field day was akin to basic training.  "I'm absolutely exhausted and need a break from everyone..."

    It was 70 degrees today.

She was on cup stacking duty.

    In the gym.

Those that have either manned field day as a teacher or parent will know how ridiculous this is.

  3. Wasn't PJ the guy that took a ball coast-to-coast and hit a shot at the buzzer against a pretty good team - UConn, UNC or somesuch?  I swear I have a memory of some big shot he hit at the end of a game....

  4. Yeah.  Kill the rooster before the next big immunity challenge.  I think that was their idea.

I'll never understand why it is so hard to catch a fish on a Pacific island.  Fuck's sake, the Polynesians didn't have Bass Pro Shops and fancy carbonite spears and, yet, they somehow figured it out.  Why not study the ways of the locals that have been doing it for centuries and figure out the effing fish situation before you get stranded on an island for 30-something days?

  5. LOL.  Some of y'all thought the annoying chicken lover was cute.  F that.  Batshit crazy and whiny ruins cute almost every time.

To me, last night's episode was just really annoying.

    • Reem or Skeet or whatever her name was, whining about having to climb some steps for food.
    • Of course Aubry finds an idol when it appears as if she may be on the outs.  Then she cries about it.  Ugh.
    • Hot redhead getting no air time.
    • The whole chicken drama.  I can't believe someone that's not a vegetarian back home would throw such a fit.  I have vegetarians in my family.  They would NEVER throw the kind of fit she threw.  Probably my biggest pet peeve is when folks try to tell others what to do, how to think, etc... I'd say the same thing if Wardog tried to force everyone to pick up a spear and hunt in a pack.  Don't force others under your warped sense of morality.
    • The vote was stupid.  Great.  Vote out the one of guys that is actually pulling his/her weight.
    • Chris' whiny rant at the end about getting revenge.
  6. 2 and 4 on a cruise?  Yeah, that doesn't sound great.  Hell, I've got a 12 and 6 year-old, and I'm not about to deal with his batshit crazy ass in the confines of a cruise boat room.

Stated above, but I do believe 2 is too young to be babysat by one of the cruise "we'll take your kids all day" things.  Unless you're absolutely dead set on going soon, I'd just do something else and go when the youngest is, say, 5.

Disney would be a much better choice, but again, 2 just seems far too young unless you're going to be with more than your immediate family and can have the occasional break.  Plus, what if the 2 year-old gets seasick?

Fuck Texas. Run this bitch up.

It'd be cool if Tech could make an NCAA run and get off of this esteemed list with aggy.

Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Northwestern are the only three power 5 schools not to finish in the top/final 4 in any of football, basketball, or baseball since WWII.

  8. The one that hit behind my house in 2011 sounded more like a high-pitched scream.  Granted it was only a 0 or 1 on the Fujita scale so that may have been a factor.

I was amazed by how much damage such a "minor" tornado could make.  I can't imagine what a 3, 4, or 5 would have done to the area.

  9. I'm trying to separate my selfishness in being disappointed he isn't going to be helping Texas next year with the guy's drive to make a financial future for himself.  That being said, who the hell advised him to go pro?  His combine results can't possibly be some unexpected surprise.  Speed, for the most part, isn't going to show up out of nowhere.

  10. At this point, I'm of the opinion that there's almost no way he's gone this year.  It would take us losing out and not making the tourney and, even then, I'm not sure he's gone.  As it stands, TX is currently around an 8-9 seed.  You really think a team "solidly" in the tourney that may lose to another decent 8-9 team is going to fire the coach?  No way - especially given the buyout.

  11. Dude.  I wasn't trying to trash you.  Like I said, I have respect for your consistency.  Post #278 just seems to be a tad different than what you've posted on pgs 1-5.  Three pages ago, you were calling Final Four.  What is your tourney call at this specific moment? Based on your posts, anything less than a Final Four is a complete failure, yes?

  12. This is what cracks me up about Derka....

On Jan 19, TN was 12 games into a 19 game winning streak.  On page 3 of this thread, Derka stated,

    Quote

Tennessee has arguably looked like the best team in the country, and certainly the most complete team. Schofield and Williams have been so money that when the guards are hittting their shots y'all ahold be favored against anyone.  i'm really pulling for this squad, and i think that the consistency of the two big studs and the leadership of Schofield will help take Tennessee to the Final 4.

Since then, TN has gone 10-2 with two road losses to Top15 teams in KY and LSU.  In both cases, Derka blamed officiating.

TN is now 26-3 with two road losses blamed on officiating.  Derka's latest Rick Barnes lovefest post has the following:

    Quote

Its true, Tennessee hasn't been playing their best ball; but they were never the best team in the country to begin with, and just because the human polls had them there doesn't mean that Tennessee playing more like the 7th or 8th best team in the country is some travesty. There are plenty of teams with way more NBA talent than Tennessee, and that list might even include Texas.

Derka, Bro, I have mad respect for you and actually hope that TN ends up in the Final 4 so you can throw it in the faces of all of us doubters.  That being said, you seem to be hedging quite a bit as the tourney gets nearer.
