  1. The one that hit behind my house in 2011 sounded more like a high-pitched scream.  Granted it was only a 0 or 1 on the Fujita scale so that may have been a factor.

I was amazed by how much damage such a "minor" tornado could make.  I can't imagine what a 3, 4, or 5 would have done to the area.

  2. I'm trying to separate my selfishness in being disappointed he isn't going to be helping Texas next year with the guy's drive to make a financial future for himself.  That being said, who the hell advised him to go pro?  His combine results can't possibly be some unexpected surprise.  Speed, for the most part, isn't going to show up out of nowhere.

  3. At this point, I'm of the opinion that there's almost no way he's gone this year.  It would take us losing out and not making the tourney and, even then, I'm not sure he's gone.  As it stands, TX is currently around an 8-9 seed.  You really think a team "solidly" in the tourney that may lose to another decent 8-9 team is going to fire the coach?  No way - especially given the buyout.

  4. Dude.  I wasn't trying to trash you.  Like I said, I have respect for your consistency.  Post #278 just seems to be a tad different than what you've posted on pgs 1-5.  Three pages ago, you were calling Final Four.  What is your tourney call at this specific moment? Based on your posts, anything less than a Final Four is a complete failure, yes?

  5. This is what cracks me up about Derka....

On Jan 19, TN was 12 games into a 19 game winning streak.  On page 3 of this thread, Derka stated,

    Quote

Tennessee has arguably looked like the best team in the country, and certainly the most complete team. Schofield and Williams have been so money that when the guards are hittting their shots y'all ahold be favored against anyone.  i'm really pulling for this squad, and i think that the consistency of the two big studs and the leadership of Schofield will help take Tennessee to the Final 4.

Since then, TN has gone 10-2 with two road losses to Top15 teams in KY and LSU.  In both cases, Derka blamed officiating.

TN is now 26-3 with two road losses blamed on officiating.  Derka's latest Rick Barnes lovefest post has the following:

    Quote

Its true, Tennessee hasn't been playing their best ball; but they were never the best team in the country to begin with, and just because the human polls had them there doesn't mean that Tennessee playing more like the 7th or 8th best team in the country is some travesty. There are plenty of teams with way more NBA talent than Tennessee, and that list might even include Texas.

Derka, Bro, I have mad respect for you and actually hope that TN ends up in the Final 4 so you can throw it in the faces of all of us doubters.  That being said, you seem to be hedging quite a bit as the tourney gets nearer.

Texas basketball is like a boring game of fate. You know you're doomed. You can feel it over your shoulder of every minute of every single game. And it doesn't even have the simple decency to throw you a curve ball every once and a while for variety. It's just a tedious, inevitable collection of crapulence that rolls out its mediocrity with relentless, punishing consistency.

Who could possibly want to see this again next year? Hell, who wants to see it for even one more minute?

This shit is making me nostalgic for Charlie Strong. At least his ineptitude was occasionally funny.

Yep.  I didn't watch the game.  I checked the score before going to bed and Texas was up something like 55 to 39.  I actually told myself it wouldn't last.  And it wasn't in a "don't get your hopes up" way.  It was more of a " no, seriously, it won't last".

I didn't watch past the break to see if they gave us what his choice was but wasn't he tight with mama figure Reem? Do they put him on the same island or another secluded location?

His choice wasn't shown.  I hope this Extinction Island thing is done correctly.  It's going to be lame if more than one is able to return at the same time - i.e. a group of six returns in Week 7.  They'd be a natural (bitter) alliance and knock off those that haven't been voted out.

  8. I felt bad for him until he hedged with his choice post-tribal.  Granted, it could have been overplayed for effect but, otherwise, what a puss.  You get voted off at tribal and have a second chance.  It should take all over about .5 seconds to jump at the opportunity to "go left".

Glad Wentworth stayed.  More redhead shots plz.

I'm not trying to be a dick or anything but, what kind of Texas alumni or fan prefers a situation in which some no-name team gets a bid over us? I don't care how shitty we might be.  I just want to see my school in the brackets.

I’m as disinterested in Texas basketball as I’ve been since Kaiser Bob. Thanks, Shaka.

Same here.  I knew the game was on.  Hell, I was sitting in front of the tv.  While watching Gold Rush Alaska, I flipped over twice to check the score.  Yes, Gold Rush Alaska.

After your initial loss on Keto you start to get non-scale victories, and then it keeps coming off. Just because your weight stays the same doesn't mean you aren't changing for the better. I have been stuck around 170 for a while, but dropped a pant size despite weight staying the same.

That's a good point and something I hadn't thought about.  I may revisit keto if I can't get down to 195 by mid-summer.  I'll be biking at least 100 miles a week starting in May.  I really won't have an excuse not to drop.  (Note: I'm a teacher with lots of free time in the summer - hence the min goal of 100 miles a week.)

Today is 3 weeks into trying keto. I'm down about 8 pounds, which I'm more than happy with. I wasn't trying to lose 20 in a month.

I've never really dieted and was skeptical of the keto thing because it seems extreme, but after reading about it a bunch, and taking all the internet testimonials with a large grain of salt, I wanted to give it a shot. Besides the weight loss, I feel great. Like really good physically. Aches and pains from some stuff that's been bothering me for 6 months are starting to go away and I'm able to exercise pretty hard again.

The carb cravings are going away. I was watching a show this morning on breakfast places serving up the kind of stuff that would normally make me jiz my drawers and it really didn't look all that good. The sugar cravings are still high, but they come and go pretty quick. I don't see any reason to give it up now. I'd probably keep doing it even if I wasn't losing weight because I feel so good.

That was one of the things that surprised me during my 3-week keto trip.  I had absolutely no cravings.  Half the time I ate it was because I was on a sort of schedule.  The couple of times I went on a more traditional, caloric-based diet led to massive cravings within a day.  If I hadn't hit such a wall weight-wise, I would have stuck with it.  As mentioned earlier, I got down 8 lbs pretty quickly, gained several pounds, and just got stuck there for over a week.  At that point I was all "F it".  Still at 207 this AM.

Last night went to hopscotch and then that beer and food joint next door. Friends ate burgers and yummy looking food with bread etc and I just didn’t see the appeal. I ate deviled eggs and pickled veggies. This morning my mouth is nasty tasting - even with gum. Def think I’m in ketosis. Don’t particularly care except I’m down another 2lbs. I had to skip a near full week of workouts too. Appetite is in check and I feel great. Total loss (including water weight) is 15 lbs since mid January. tummy is flatter by a noticeable margin but still has the jiggle. I’ve also noticed thighs and upper arms are thinner which wasn’t that necessary. I’m hoping the weight on other places is almost done and we can attack the belly fat near 100%. No way I have another 15 to lose. If that happens I’ll look down right sickly - I think.

LOL.  Exact same thing here.  I'm down 20 lbs from my high of 226 last fall.  It appears as if all the weight has come from my arms and legs.  Only thing different on my stomach is that it's less solid (more jiggly) which, if I'm being honest, doesn't look any better than it did when it looked like a small balloon.
