  1. Sweet.  Coincidentally, this story kept me from going crazy one summer between semesters.  I got a bad case of poison ivy and couldn’t sleep.  Reading this story got me through a couple of nights.

I also wonder why it took so long to bring this to the screen.  Seems as if the concept would be perfect for the dystopian Hunger Games type crowd.

  2. What about work obligations.  Had a boss that was absolutely not going to let me off for 2004 TX/OU because TN was playing at the same time and they were going to be short handed.

So I waited until about an hour before game time and “dropped” a case of Coronas on a wet floor.  For effect, I rolled around a bit to draw some blood.

Boss comes running back and sees me writhing on the floor and sends me home.  Best part is that he told me to take the unbroken bottles with me so that I would feel better.

In retrospect, kind of crazy, but it was TX/OU.

  3. Yeah.  That was weird.  Again, there’s prob a lot that we don’t see.

i get that the game is about deception, but I was getting a little annoyed at the attitude coming from Des after getting caught in a lie.  Reminded me far too much of some of the students I teach.  That being said, her exit speech cleared it up and it kind of ended up being funny.  She was putting on a show because she knew she’d been busted.

  4. I’ve told this story on Shaggy before...

2003 (I think).  Wedding in Knoxville: one of my best friends.  It’s a bye week for TN but we’re playing Arky.  No prob.  I’ll miss the first quarter and watch the rest at the hotel bar during the reception.

I catch the score on the way out of the church.  Texas is down early.  Get to the reception and damn bar is closed.  A father of another friend comes up and tells me he can’t believe Arky is up 25 points at the half.  Seriously?  F it.  I’m just going to drink  myself happy.

10 hours later I get home and I’m drunk enough to want to know wtf happened to TX.  Turn on the VCR.  Halftime.  Wait a minute.  We’re only down by like 7.  I’m giddy.  Friend’s father was effing with me.  Maybe we won!!!

90 mins later and we really did end up losing.  So, I got to experience Texas losing to Arkansas twice in one day.  Good times.

  5. See.  Ronnie should have emulated The Situation.  You know darn well Mike is going to go batshit crazy as soon as the judge makes his/her decision.  He’s smart enough to use the show to improve his image rather than tarnish it.

Mans it must suck to know you’ve made a mistake but your significant other isn’t going to see it for many months and we’ll after having the baby.  Dumbass.

  6. It is.  I’m not quite sure what happened.  I don’t do politics so it’s not as if we have a history.  I’m also under the impression that my spelling and grammar is up to code save for the occasional mistake(s) made when in a hurry.

For what it's worth, knoxtnhorn and his brother are a fucking abomination when it comes down to the fact that they're educators. If I'm a representative of the University of Texas during the time they were awarded degrees I should be fucking fired. Neither of them can spell or complete a sentence worth a shit past a 5th-grade education. It's god damn embarrassing.

I have no idea what you’re talking about or why you’ve decided to personally attack me (and JamesLaw).  I’m a damn fine teacher, and JamesLaw does quite well with his own company.

  8. Got one.

I drive over Lake Ray Hubbard every day.  The lake has many dead trees poking above the water line in the middle of the lake.  How are those trees still there?  The lake was created in the late 60’s.  I’m assuming they were there when the lake was formed, but how could water, weathering, waves, storms, etc. not have upended them over time?
