We aren't passing a 1-loss Oregon team. They're already ahead of us, just beat Oregon St (vs Tech for us), and would have to beat UW (vs OK ST for us). Committee isn't going to jump them based on this week and next if both win.

Name the best OOC win for the PAC12. (6-6 Texas Tech or 6-5 currently losing Wisconsin)

The 3rd best team in the PAC12, Arizona, lost to a 5-7 Mississippi State.

Oregon’s best conference win is against an 8-4 Oregon State (ours was against a 8-3 maybe soon to be 9-3 K State).

Oregon’s best OOC win was a late come back against a 6-6 Texas Tech (EVERYONE in the country knows we beat Bama by double digits in Tuscaloosa where we ran out the clock with 7 minutes left in the 4th).

Even if they beat Washington, maybe they offsets our Bama win but then if we beat OU/OSU it also puts our resume over the top.

We also have a common opponent argument with Tech that significantly favors us as well as we beat the shit out of them and they required a late comeback to win.

I think you guys are rubbing your pussies too hard here.

  2. I’m of the opinion that Texas only gets left out if there are 4 undefeated teams. Undefeated Big Ten champ, UGA, Washington, and FSU is the only way we don’t make it in as Big 12 champs. The committee likes easy solutions. 4 undefeated champions is an easy solution.

If Bama or Oregon wins I don’t see us getting left out now that we have head to head and better win over common opponent. These CCG are defacto playoff play-in games, the losers will not be considered if there are enough 0-1 loss champs to seed.

If Bama and Oregon win I see the PAC12 getting the same treatment as the Big 12 did back when Ohio State jumped Baylor/TCU. You’d have undefeated Big Ten champ, FSU, Texas, Bama with Oregon out as #5 (what a dream draw).

Texas and Bama played OOC, if you leave out Texas you’re telling teams that winning a huge OOC game gets you no credit and if you leave out Bama you’re punishing them for losing a big OOC game. The easy answer is to include BOTH and leave out the team whose best OOC win was against tech.

The PAC12 was/is overrated. Their best P5 OOC wins all came against 6-6 tech or a 6-5 Wisconsin, and their 3rd best team Arizona lost to Mississippi State who isn’t even going bowling. Those early season PAC12 wins against Michigan St, TCU, Nebraska, Florida, and Baylor were fool’s gold. I think this is the easiest out for the committee, PLUS who the fuck is going to care about the PAC12 after this year anyways? A dead conference can’t really rock the boat going forward.

Plus as always I go back to brands value. Oregon is the lesser brands of the group (like Baylor/TCU were a decade ago) so backing into a playoff that has Texas in a playoff with the SEC champ and B1G champ is too tempting to TV.

They could screw FSU out of a spot, but I have a hard time seeing them get dropped if the survive the next 8 days unscathed. But again TV$ may win out over justice/ethics this case.

I cannot imagine us, for a very long time, playing any of these schools again in anything, particularly if their is a B12 officiating / ump crew. This ought to be like a Coug High thing.  By the way, you know Yormark very intentionally scheduled us to play those commuter fucktards at their place.

Go look up our Big 12 schedules for all sports. We play AT HOUSTON in every sports this year (or at least last time I looked). The only sport they come to Austin in men’s basketball because we play them TWICE.

Article making fun of Bjork and a&m

    IMG_4941.jpeg

    Quote

First Bjork tried to speak with Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell about the gig. And, never mind the fact that Campbell played his college ball at Texas A&M before spending a decade in the NFL, coaches simply don’t leave young Super Bowl contenders for a mid-tier SEC job.

Bjork is now leading his first real coaching search for a college football program at any level. There are no looming NCAA punishments to hold him back. No shortage of money to spend on his guy. No extenuating circumstances. Just the ego of a fanbase who believes they should be competing to national titles every year.

Which means all the pressure is on Bjork to nail this. Comments like his “8-4” jab will only make it harder on himself.

All of which is to say, in the new era of the SEC, where Texas A&M will have to contend with Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Tennessee and Ole Miss, the Aggies could do a lot worse than routinely going 8-4.

Bjork should know, since that’s been the average record at Texas A&M for 12 years now.

What am I missing here?  How the hell do both Michigan and tOSU get in?  If Michigan loses, they will literally have one "good" win on their resume.

Michigan and Fox both are Big Ten properties as are Washington and Oregon and the Big Noon is a FOX show.

UGA, Bama, Texas, FSU, Louisville are full ESPN properties. No need to promote them more than necessary.

Lol at the Big 10/secsecsec favoritism....and yet, some of y'all still want Bama to win out so you can have a UGA/UT fight for fourth. You're fucking crazy for wanting that battle....fight the Pac or anyone else, but don't leave it to the committee to choose between 12-1 UGA and 12-1 Texas

12-1 Big 12 Champion that beat Alabama in OOC

    vs

12-1 non champion that lost to Alabama and played a weak ass OOC slate

    Don’t be a pussy.

  8. According to the Oklahoman, if I’m reading this right, the only way we get left out is if Texas AND KState lose. Then OU and Okie State would go.

    https://www.oklahoman.com/story/sports/college/big-12/2023/11/18/big-12-championship-game-scenarios-ou-football-oklahoma-state-texas-kansas-state/71640094007/

Look like Alex Loeb is saying the same thing on twitter indicating we’d lose in a three way tie to OU/OSU

Texas will clinch a spot in the Big 12 championship game with a win over Texas Tech next week or ANY of the following results:

    -Oklahoma loss
    -Oklahoma State loss
    -Kansas State win

    Just win.

Its interesting to me how those of you in this camp, completely ignore the calls we get away with

Literally EVERYONE in the SEC complains about the refs giving games to Bama every year, and our game against Bama with SEC refs in Tuscaloosa was the best as far as penalties go for our “mentally” weak team.

Your take is dumb and you should feel bad for it.

not really if we are being honest. most penalties are due to mental mistakes and we have always been known to have a mentally weak team. Cant wait to change leagues and the same mental mistakes follow us and sure enough people will be whining here about refs/sec out to get us ...

Yeah subjective holding and PI calls that only go against us and never for us is just because Sark has a “mentality” weak team.

yes I get it, A&M has money, resources, and recruits but that analogy is silly.

He’s talking out of both sides of his mouth.

aggy is the best job because of money and resources. It’s such a great job/money huge names are in play that you wouldn’t figure similar to Brian Kelly>LSU or Reilly>USC

aggy can hire Traylor or Elko if they are the best candidate

aggy doesn’t have to pay $11.5m/yr to get the right candidate

So if aggy hires a big name, he was right. If aggy hires a 2nd:3rd tier candidate, he was right and it doesn’t mean it not a huge job.

There is literally no way he can be wrong, and he’s setting it up so that aggy looks good no matter what they do.

Dude drank the maroon Koolaid Looch keeps serving him.

Pate's an idiot, and now I gotta watch the clip.  Gosh darn you.

What were the 27 different mechanisms in the “construction and infrastructure” of the SWC/B12 conference that gave Texas a “leg up” over aggy?

Ohio State usually rules the ratings. I know their waste of a game against Rutgers beat our game against TCU in the same window on OTA channels. I think games for Ohio State and Michigan with the new teams like USC will do well. Fox really was smart in making 11am a huge window where there's not a lot of competition. I'm sure the fan bases hate it but it was a smart move. I'm sure ABC will follow suit next year with making more competitive games be at that window.

Ohio State and Michigan are a class onto themselves. They can play Rutgers and pull 4 million OTA almost without fail.

Cowherd acting like Oregon, Washington, or even USC will do that now just because they are Big Ten is dumb. Yes, the big games will get bigger but ultimately nobody watches bad West Coast football and that not going to change because they swap Arizona schools for Indiana ones not named Notre Dame.

If they Big Ten truly schedules OSU/USC, Michigan/UCLA, Penn State/Oregon, and Nebraska/Washington all on a single day they absolutely would dominate that day in the ratings, but you can’t pull that off every week. The goal of setting the schedule will be to get 2-3 quality matchups for their OTA partners FOX/CBS/NBC but that’s not going to be possible every week. Someone will get stuck with Iowa/Michigan State or Wisconsin/Purdue.

Until the Big Ten gets Notre Dame, the SEC still has the advantage. Adding ND would give them 3 bonafide bluebloods that can draw in a every window every week plus plenty of second tier options that could fill a 4th OTA spot and a late night kick.

Still I think the quality will hold up well enough for the SEC. The SEC has 8 teams that have won BCS/CFP titles, the Big Ten even with 18 doesn’t even have 8 different  teams that have made the CFP/BCSNCG.

Adding Texas/OU is also going to have a compounding effect on SEC ratings, Far more of our fans will now watch a game like UGA/Mizzou or Bama/UK than ever have before. They got a taste of the Texas market with aggy/LSU/Arkansas, but now they’ll get a lot more (and Texas/OU’s rating will likely see a bump as well).

The Big Ten may be better positioned with OTA slots and media markets, but the SEC has the better recruiting and football success. I don’t think either conference will fail so I think Cowherd’s take is relatively meaningless.

TLDR: $100M paid for a built-in excuse for losing to us in 2024.

If Jimbo stayed, they would play through next season likely losing 4 games and end up with a team with poor morale, a dead coach walking, and having players sit out their administration’s Super Bowl against Texas.

Now, while yes they have a built in excuse (1st year head coach) they also can tell them (similar to what UH told coach redbull) you can go 1-11 next year as long as that 1 win is against Texas.

The next coach will design their offensive and defensive identity around creating the optimal base scheme that will most effective against Texas. Spring ball, fall camp, and every bye week will be focused on Texas. The coaches will watch and analyze film on Texas all season long and will have the team prepared to play spoiler.

Their best chance at beating us is letting the mercenary players go back to New Jersey or Tennessee, and build a roster full of true believers in a coach (like Traylor, who imo would be the worst hire for us since he can leverage his Wast Texas roots and THSFB coaching connections, but aggy is hopefully too proud to go after a UTSA coach) who are in it for the long haul. They could only do this with a new coach with proper expectations set in advance of hiring. No way you could do that with a year seven Jimbo.
