On a side note, watching some of the traffic jams caused by evacuations. How have we not figured out how to close and divert a couple of lanes from oncoming traffic during an emergency?

In addition to typical social safety nets (SS, Universal HC, Maternity and Paternity leave), in Texas they made it pretty much legal to not give out door water breaks to to employees UPS drivers don't get AC in their vans. These are thing union have to fight for here that Western European countries don't have to worry about. They have a lot more room to maneuver for the good of their employees than Americans do- Wyoming forfeits Volleyball matchup with San Jose State
Why don't all the teams playing Wyoming say they have a trans person on their team. Pick up the easy win and move on.....- Israel vs everyone war thread

yeah. seems like a bunch of tackles should have been near the LOS and wind up getting 5 yards. Like watching a Cowboys game- Surly Dad Thread
My Father in Law only had girls. And I was the first serious adult-ish (I mean Im still here), And we hit if off really well from the beginning. I took him to lunch around 7th month of dating, which wasn't too unusual, he and I would grab lunch about once a month. I asked if I could marry his daughter and he was kinda thinking "yeah sure sometime in the future we should maybe talk about that." Then I showed him the ring. The look on his face, when he figured out I was serious, was one of the best memories I have.- Surly Dad Thread
I wonder if our kids in their 20's will ever know how much even a brief visit to dad is. A couple of weeks ago my 27 yo (who has a kid, so first Grandkid for me) said "You know, I don't see you as often, but I think of you more often than I used to." I think that was pretty accurate for me and my Dad around that age. Also, My 5 yo girl was sitting at the island in the kitchen with her tablet. Mom had her covid/flu shots and passed out. Turned on something about LBJ, and they played the UT Fight Song in one of the scenes. Out of the corner of my eye, she was still watching her tablet but with her hand in the Hook Em Sign.- War movies
I think it is (maybe was) a fun movie to watch. I think it now falls into the category (like Pearl Harbor, Last Samurai, ect), that people on this site just dismiss it since so historically inaccurate. That's probably why movies and tv shows like Band of Brothers and We Were Soldiers are popular on this thread because they are as close as possible to historically correct while being entertaining. In other words, we're history snobs- Dallas Cowboys 2024 Season Thread -- Jerrah the Asshat Rides Again
I too enjoy a two point conversion that is thrown to the 1 yard line...- Dallas Cowboys 2024 Season Thread -- Jerrah the Asshat Rides Again

It's amazing how far I've come from being a die hard watch every play fan to, it's back ground noise while I do something else- War movies

Every year this team looks unstoppable, then looks like the Varsity Blues team after the strip club night. Only we don't get to watch "Hot for Teacher" or whip cream bikini scenes- Dumbass Shit We See On Facebook
If it's all four of us (me, wife and 2 kids) we always take my truck for the room. If it is just us or maybe one kid we take her car because it gets twice the gas mileage.- Русский корабль - иди нахуй
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/russias-ethnic-minorities-disproportionately-conscripted-to-fight-the-war-in-ukraine I understand the need to kill any Russian soldier they can. I'm not a fan of hitting civilians in Moscow. But, I may be wrong and probably am, but I have more empathy for the ethnic minorities than I do the civilians in Moscow. Moscow citizens remind me too much of the elites in Germany who knew what was happening turned a blind eye to the Holocaust. I think Putin is purposely using the certain groups as meatgrinder soldiers to effectively ethnic cleanse larger parts of Russia - 2024 port workers strike
