it's wisdom, try some! I'm not familiar with his disinformation on other issues, but his views on Israel are seriously good.
I only listen to his YT videos on Israel and enjoy his sarcastic wit in every moment.
To some degree or another , lots of people are disinformation artists -- Republicans, Democrats, and more.
you don't know anything about him.
I see you’re one of those “not everything about Hitler was terrible” guys.

i don't agree with all his views, but he's spot on with Israel. Besides those are all completely separate issues.
You can’t pick and choose when you’re talking about a propagandist. You won’t be taken seriously.

From what you stated, it sounds like both of them. And those statements aren't inconsistent.
- 100s of people could have shown up.
- The campaign may have been disappointed because it expected thousands.
The question I would have is whether the latter statement was attributed to a campaign source and thus was reporting on the feelings of the campaign or whether the "disappointment" was an editorialization opinion by the news outlet.
Exactly what I was thinking. To say it’s a disappointment with no attribution is opinion. If the reporter asks the candidate or a campaign official how many they were expecting and whether they were happy with the turnout and the reports the answer with attribution, that’s fact based journalism.

Regarding Longhornlove and 50-60% of America:
Just as Christian fascism is overrunning science, conspiracy theory and social media are overrunning sanity and secular education.
Resulting in millions upon millions of fact-twisting, fallacy-ridden, fake-amateur “experts."
It remains to be seen whether America (or the world) survives this toxic mix.
It’s a lot less than 50-60%. The biggest problem we have in this country is that people, particularly young people, don’t vote.

Vonlane is a game changer. Unless I’m taking my large, unruly dog with me it’s a no brainer between Houston and Austin. In my previous job, I used it weekly. Pro tip: if you use it frequently, get a Vonlane pass. It’s basically a discounted prepaid account. In addition to a discount, you get free booze on all of your trips.
As for air travel, I’m convinced that the airlines don’t mind that it’s a miserable experience. It helps them create a value proposition for premium products like lounges and first/business class. It definitely works on me. I pay for Clear, Global Entry, have multiple lounge memberships and fly only first or business these days to reduce my exposure to the misery. I think there’s a lot of people out there like that. Heck, WN has been talking about how they might start offering premium products because they realize they’re missing out on a big source of revenue.

I did not have "From the River to the Sea, Are the Chips & Salsa Free?" on my 2024 Geopolitical Bingo Card.
Charging for chips and salsa is most certainly protest worthy.

That’s weird since you have your nose firmly implanted in Elon’s butthole.

Honestly, that makes it worse. If you had a scintilla of intellectual curiosity, you would question the things that are being force fed to you by the algorithm. You are voluntarily being radicalized by Elon and you’re lapping it up just like he wants you to. You are the poster boy for the term useful idiot.

Great work by that reporter. Lets her hang herself out to look like a moron. It’s the dog that catches the car and then doesn’t know what to do with it.

I came across a livestream a couple of hours ago and it looked like a "pre-protest" or overall discussion was going on of some sort. Apparently led by 2 UT profs. All incredibly peaceful and non-disruptive (no tents!) so no issue there. A few items stood out in the 20 mins or so I was listening (until it wrapped). There were some jewish students listening in as well that raised their hand to engage and they were ignored. Someone in the crowd asked if she considered Hamas a terrorist organization and she said something like I'm not answering that and moved on. Then, the kicker, for some reason she noted that IDF forces trained the APD. First of all - is there any truth to that? Second, no wonder these kids show up angry. Zero dialogue or room for discussion of alternative viewpoints and then you tell the students "the enemy" is training the APD. For what purpose? To get them riled up? Disappointing for a UT prof but maybe not surprising. It then panned over to the Jewish students getting interviewed by media after this session where they expressed their concerns about some of the rhetoric (and, by the way, praising the UT administration for efforts to help make them feel safe which gets lost in all of this). One mentioned he had politely sat down next to this professor on campus to talk to her about some of these issues, but again, refusal to engage in any discussion. So much for the free exchange of ideas and all that.
Haven’t seen the video you’re referencing (would be great if you could post it), but I don’t think you will get much push back here that a UT professor ignoring a Jewish student attempting to participate in a discussion is a chickenshit move. Also, not acknowledging that Hamas is a terrorist organization. That professor should be publicly shamed if that’s true.

You’re making a very good argument for just ignoring them.

I have spent nearly my entire career in women’s and children’s healthcare and what has happened in Austin over the last decade is remarkable. Opening Dell at Mueller was a big deal, but the real game changer for Austin was Dell Medical School. The investments that Ascension has made into facilities and programs since the medical school started is nothing short of amazing. Families in Central Texas have benefitted a ton from Ascension and UT throwing a ton of money and energy toward Dell Children’s.

Got it. make him some recommendations then, I'm sure he'd appreciate it.
I did. The docs at Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology Associates of Texas are all top notch. I worked directly with that group for a number of years and they attract top talent. Main office is in the pavilion on Dell’s main campus and they have several satellite offices around town.

Never claimed it was my area of expertise. Made a couple of suggestions/offers on some people we talked to about Marfan before even entertaining the idea of open heart surgery. SouthAustin is smart enough to do his own research, was merely recommending them as middle steps between a PCP and heaven forbid, an actual surgeon. Just giving background color. He seems like a great father, he'll due his homework. If it gets to a serious heart stage, feel free to chime in with expertise---seems like he's open to expert input. My area of expertise is not in a lot of fields, but from dentists to plumbers to tax law , I sometimes innocuously offer up some names/businesses/firms to folks as at least a jumping off point to collect more information from people I trust so they can make a more informed decision on how best to move forward...particularly if I have personal/professional/family experiences with said professionals. If I was actually giving SouthAustin direct orders on which cardiology procedure to proceed with at this early juncture, then yes---that'd be insane.
Dude, you are so far out over your skis on this one. Pediatric cardiologists don’t perform surgery. Pediatric cardiovascular surgeons perform surgeries. Pediatric cardiologists evaluate, diagnose and treat cardiac conditions in children adolescents and, in some cases (congenital heart conditions), adults. You’re conflating someone that does the aforementioned roles with a pediatric CV surgeon. A pediatric cardiologist IS the middle step between the pediatrician and a surgeon. Just accept that you made a bad recommendation and move on.

Yeah, I was just mentioning in my long-winded way that they have both assessed kids between the PCP phase and, god forbid, the surgery part if needed. There's apparently lots of steps/doctors involved with this particular deal as with many adolescent/pediatric abnormalities. I dunno, I just know both have assessed a lot of children including mine and the (lack of) diagnosis was re-verified by up-the-chain doctors in this niche. Just trying to give him a place to start. I wouldn't think it would go from a routing sports physical to open heart surgery. But then, our health care system baffles me.
If it’s not your area of expertise, I would stay away from recommending physicians that don’t have fellowship training in treating kids. Austin is home to a world class group of pediatric cardiologists. That’s where anyone with a kid with a potential heart issue should start.

Okay, so it was Dr. Whetherold. But this was like 7-8 years ago, and it appears she's moved onto some sort of practice between Austin Heart Hospital and Ascension-Seton 38th.
But again, the heart issue is the big concern...the rest is just 'growing pains' (not to discount the frustrations and anxiety that may accompany that). One of my neighbors, and father of one of my daughter's good friends is a pediatric cardiologist and I've heard him speak with other parents about Marfan (at birthday parties of all places). He knows his shit. Dr. Vefali (he's from Turkey but fully licensed and post-doc fellowships in Texas). Do the regular workup your PCP recommends obviously for procedural protocol, but if Vefali is in your network, I'll get you an appointment within days, not weeks. He does all kinda preventative care as well as corrective surgery on adolescents.
FWIW, neither of the docs you mentioned are pediatric cardiologists. They may see pediatric patients, but neither is fellowship trained or board certified in pediatric cardiology. The docs at Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology Associates of Texas are all specialty trained and board certified in pediatric cardiology.

Admin and law enforcement have demonstrated a default response of “crack skulls, don’t ask questions later.” Not exactly conducive to negotiation. Unfortunately, the time for constructive dialogue passed when Hartzell called in skull crackers that love to toss around protesters, but can’t stop a mass shooting at an elementary school.
