  1. Exactly.  And if by some amazing turn of event we end up in the CCG and get a rematch, let me let you guys in on a little unpopular secret..we will probably lose..again.  Why?  Because even though OU isn’t a world killer this year, they remain significantly better then us at key positions. They have a good OLine, a functional QB, multiple good receivers, and a coach that has been doing a good job for a while.  Meanwhile we have absolute dog shit for Oline, 1 functional receiver who just got his first pube 12 months ago, a QB who is as accurate as a Iraqi SCUD missile, a walk on starting LB, and a coaching staff that is still trying to figure out what they got and who they can count on.  We took that and went toe to toe with a top 10 team and almost pulled it off but ran out of steam mainly because of said dog shit oline that couldn’t stay on the field for more than 3 plays and that completely gassed our defense.  So relax.  We should of never been up 21 points to get gut punched in the first place.  That fact that we were ever in that position with this shit team is an absolute miracle.   The portal will absolutely be our friend this off season cause any olineman who is looking for playing time will know they have a starting spot with us.

    This.

  2. Just rewatched season 1 of Broadchurch recently.  It is SOOOOO good. It was Mare of Easttown before Mare of Easttown, but without the Murder Durdur accents.  I know a bunch of us recommended it upthread, but if you haven't watched, definitely take the time and do so.
Olivia Colman, David Tennant, and Jodie Whittaker.  In season 2, we get those plus Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Charlotte Rampling.

See above. Right up your alley.

  3. I posted on another thread. My interest ranged from it being too slow, to loving it, to finally being indifferent with the ending. It touches on several very difficult subjects to cover (religion/racism/addiction) in a way that had me pausing to process several times and stuck with me for a few days.

Hamish Linkater as the Preacher deserves all the awards, especially during the sermons. He was incredible.

Overall imo not as good as Hill House but better than Bly Manor and definitely worth watching for the acting alone.

  4. Spontaneous idea to bring my 14 year old music lover down for the second weekend. What have I gotten myself in to! I am an ACL veteran but coming with a teenager for her first festival could be amazing/challenging. I did go ahead and get weekend passes because we both like a lot of the 2nd-3rd tier bands for each day. Lodging last minute probably being the biggest hurdle at this point.

Any advice for a Dad wanting to have an amazing experience with his kid for their first festival???

  5. Stayed up late binging Midnight Mass not sure how I feel about it, a lot to process. Definitely can see why some might hate it and some might love it. Hits on some very difficult points that most directors could never pull off. I will say this Linklater who plays the Preacher can act his balls off.

Goddamnit Tapatalk. I’ll never come to this thread again.

  9. Starting my horror movie watching a week early
The Exorcist III- I'd heard that this was a really good bad horror movie, and wow, what the fuck did I just watch? They really went for it here, and there's a lot of terrible and a lot of greatness mixed together to make a beautiful mess. The antagonist's performance makes me wonder if Heath Ledger watched it in preparation for the Joker. There's stuff that Hereditary and Twin Peaks borrowed from (Twin Peaks technically aired before this did, but the dream sequence looked like the 2nd floor gas station scene from Fire Walk With Me). There's snappy film noir/buddy cop dialogue that I've never seen in a horror movie. Some of the acting was bad, some of the cutting was nonsensical. The good was a 9, the bad was a 3, so I'll average and round up to a 6.5/10
Thesis- a very well made Spanish dark thriller (I think it's more thriller than horror) that might be the first movie to tackle the snuff film topic. 8.5/10

Somewhere mixed in The Exorcist 3 is one of the most compelling and terrifying horror movies ever. It’s in there somewhere. They were on to something for sure.

  11. Just subscribed to Shudder and love it. Horror you won't find anyhwere else.
VFW was awesome. Bunch of classic b list actors play vets in a vfw lodge defending it from a mob of crack heads.

I’m a big horror fan and I’ve had Shudder for a couple years. Hit me up if you want a list of favorites. Or my Letterboxd is wutang75. Some really quality stuff from the 70s - 80s. Just watched Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker with a young Bill Paxton.

I thought Malignant was great for what it was and definitely thought it was intentionally horrible. That cop dialogue was hilarious. The crazy ass parking spot made me laugh as well. Drags but the last 20-30 minutes was worth it.

Another good service is Kanopy. Free with library card.
