  1. Everything everywhere all at once. Wowzers

My favorite movie in a long time.

Mentioned this in the horror thread but just watched Pearl and loved it. Not for everyone, completely different type of movie than X, worth seeing for Mia Goth performance alone.

Adding some more recent stuff to this list - really enjoyed Barbarian, X was pretty good, but I freaking loved Pearl. Holy shit what a performance.

Not Toni Collette in Hereditary but damn close.

  3. WTF has happened to Teneha?  Seems like they have never not been really good and they've won state at least a couple of times recently.  And now they're losing 48-0 to PC?

No idea but reading a bit on the Smoaky forums seems Carlisle has benefitted from a lot of move-ins from Henderson over the years. Nobody is moving to Teneha? Just a guess.

  4. We don’t typically do shout outs but my alma mater Price Carlisle is ranked #2 in the state in 2A after being one of the worst football programs in the state for decades. I think there were years in the 00s where they didn’t score points (the entire season) and that was in 1A. Seeing them beat up on teams that beat the shit out of us for years is pretty nice. Teneha, Arp, Troup, Alto, etc.

As one Inside Texas community member wrote in a thread yesterday, Texas has the same 4-2 record coming out of the OU game it did a year ago.

The record may say they’re the same, but these two teams are quite different.

Texas hasn’t been blown out this year, like what happened in Arkansas in ‘22.

Yes, Texas Tech produced a comeback loss, but even that was not as demoralizing as what happened in the Cotton Bowl last year. Against Tech, Texas didn’t implode. They just lost.

So instead, I feel this year - as we look toward the second half of the season - is filled with the idea that Texas is on the precipice of being a very good football team, not only on offense but on defense as well.

    Let’s talk about that defense.

Take away Texas Tech’s inordinate success and reliance on fourth downs, and the Horns’ defense has kept every other opponent to 20 points or less in its six games. By this time last year, Texas had already allowed four of their six opponents to score more than 20.

And it didn’t get any better for the defense the rest of the year. The Horns only held one other team below 20, and that was the season’s final game a 22-17 win over Kansas State. In all, nine of 12 opponents scored more than 20 points against Texas in ‘21. The Horns have already improved on that total mark and we’re just six games into the season.

As for offense, we’ve really seen much of the same. The Horns are scoring points in bunches, and they are proving more consistent. The second half of games no longer feel like an offensive dead zone.

Mix that all together and this 4-2 record feels very different than a year ago.

Texas may still drop a few games this season. But nothing I’ve seen tells me we’re in for the collapse we all witnessed a year ago.

The team has even more firepower on offense and the defense is playing together. That’s the difference a year makes.

Not to mention a QB looking like he is slinging a nerf ball at intramurals.

  6. The Nolan documentary was great, but it's the only thing I've wanted to watch on Netflix in months. Cancelled today. Anything good they come up with will be found elsewhere online.

    Netflix is the new cable.

  7. Thought is was an absolute blast. Every single narrative seemed to fit perfectly after I finished and had time to digest: it's a movie about the subjugation of animals/nature for the spectacle of our twisted need for entertainment in its many forms.

Really odd more people don't "get" it or how the Gordy/Jupe narrative fits in.

Finally saw this and agree with this take. Helped that I had read a few things about it. Parts of this movie I thought were extremely creepy - 2 scenes in particular.

  8. Bringing my 14 year old daughter to her first Texas game this weekend and was considering taking her to float the river. It’s been years and I have no idea which spot is the most teenager friendly. Any suggestions? After reading some of this - considering the Schitterbahn maybe instead.
