  1. The First Edition will be the crazy marked up one for the first model year. Limited to like 500 or something? LCs traditionally don’t have many options, which seems to be carrying over to this generation with all the features that are standard, which is nice. There isn’t a Pro trim, just a base (1958), higher spec (Land Cruiser), and First Edition.
  2. I get it, though I’m not a Scotty fan. I just feel differently, and none of the whole turbo/hybrid stuff would preclude me from purchasing one. The one thing I do wonder is what kinda turbo tech they will use, and who will make it. I assume probably a twin-scroll, likely not VGT or anything. Wastegate design is important, because that is what causes a lot of turbo replacements of the cheap, shitty turbos on small GM and Ford engines. It’s silly because it’s just slop that develops in the linkage. Looks like the 1VD-FTV diesel V8 in the Aussie cruisers uses an IHI. I read something (not verified) that they will utilize the Hino plant to build them. That is fantastic news. That plant knows how build trucks, and my FJ was built there.
  3. They’re all on the TNGA-F platform anyway, so, yes. Turbo and hybrid doesn’t inherently limit their reliability at all (I will concede having to replace the battery eventually, but it’s kind of a wear item anyway, just as a timing belt would be). People keep clamoring that turbos aren’t reliable, but Toyota has been using them in Land Cruisers since the 80s.
  4. I mean, F1 is doing just fine. There will be a ton of people there. This isn’t the gotcha she thinks it is.
  5. It will just be dealer specific on how they handle it. However, Toyota doesn’t do custom orders. At least, not in the traditional sense. From a Reddit post. It’s from a year ago so the last paragraph is slowly getting better, but the problem still exists:
  6. Looks like the blue is Heritage Blue, which was an FJ color on the 2014 Trail Teams model. It’s like Cavalry Blue but with a little more gray in it.
  7. Man, Lewis had a chance at sprint pole but George was all out of sorts and essentially ruined that. What y’all doing, Mercedes?
  8. Once it was dry and DRS was enabled it was always going to be a massacre with the long lap here. The RB suits this track perfectly. I think McLaren was counting on a wet Q3.
  9. The way to tell is by how tiny the wheels and tires look. The Sequoia makes them look miniature.
  10. There is so much going on here it makes me feel pretty dumb. But, the midi-controlled setup seems pretty sweet. All of this using dreadnoughts, too.
  11. Yep. Took him about 3 minutes.
  12. That type 912 flat 12. [emoji7] Seb is supposed to be there this weekend in both his MP4/8 and FW14B.
  13. Yes, but practice times are pretty far off full beans Q3 times. I’m not trying to downplay him at all, Red Bull themselves said his times were what sealed the deal this morning. I’m just adding some context.
  14. The conditions are totally different. Qualy for the race was in drying conditions, plus cooler track temp, etc.
  15. At least it’s an ethos.
  16. Man, I need to get back out there.
  17. Hell, they are even obligated to talk as a condition of being gifted the passes. This was clarified after the Serena Williams and Megan Thee Stallion “incidents”. I generally like Alanis (and she’s a UT grad), but that’s a poor take.
  18. An update for myself: My midway scan showed Deauville 2, which is considered complete response, with resolution of my tumors (mediastinal mass still has some scar tissue but no abnormal metabolic activity). Just gotta hope nothing new pops up. Have 4 treatments left. It’s hard to walk and use my hands, but I’m making it a day at a time. LFG.
