  1. Because China got canceled. I thought they were looking for a replacement but I guess they never found one.
  2. Done. Looks like clicking the link itself does it all for you, so that’s easy.
  3. Toyota’s management structure was god-awful. It’s no wonder they didn’t make any noise. They had way too much red tape between the race team in Cologne and everything else in Japan. At first, Honda had the same problems when they came back (and they aren’t even a chassis constructor), but they got it figured out. Gazoo Racing (set up by Akio Toyoda) has been better, but was too late for the F1 effort.

One of the jazz guys on YouTube mentioned him in a video. Cool to get more info on it. Thanks!
  5. From a team valuation perspective, that increase has mostly come from the cost cap.
  6. Also, James Vowles is going to be the TP at Williams. I like James, but I think this is actually an OK thing for Mercedes. Their strategy department was in need of a shakeup.
  7. If you go into it as a comedy/to watch the zoom zoom in 4K/HDR, it’s a better experience.
  8. Those the Ultra Raptors? How do you like them? I considered the new ones, but went with the Brooks Cascadia 16.
  9. I believe he was more of a lacrosse bro. Good dude, though.
  10. Trying not to drool on myself for an hour and sixteen minutes while watching this is hard.
  11. Only major thing I can thing of off-road wise would be crawl control, but some of the later model FJs do have that (mine does, I think it’s 2013-2014 models that had the option).
  12. Yeah, Rush was good, but I just don’t ever find myself wanting to re-watch it.
  13. Monaco 1982 since the ending is hilarious.
  14. Of course, Porsche tried to do that, they just got shut out by RBR. Ferrari will also be doing it, though they aren’t confirmed to do IMSA yet (car spec is the same, though). Alpine as well.
  15. Would the dry erase marker trick not work here?

Which is why mastering is the most important part!

Many, if not most times, the original pressing is the best. That’s why I posted all the info that I did above on what to look for. Sometimes it is harder to find clean copies, though. It just kind of depends.

Another thing is to not buy any of the mostly European bootleg stuff from labels like WaxTime, DOL, DMM, 4 Men With Beards, etc. It’s all CD sourced.

It’s kind of a process. Learning which labels tend to use good mastering engineers and tape or DSD sources, using Discogs to see how people have rated it/commented on it, and reading Steve Hoffman and/or Reddit. I like Mike Esposito’s YouTube channel for The ‘In’ Groove as well. I’ve learned a lot from him. For moderns releases/reissues, anything mastered by Bernie Grundman, Ryan K. Smith, or Kevin Gray will be excellent. They typically only work with quality sources too, even when digital. Mike Bozzi, Chris Bellman (seems to be Bernie’s protégé), Krieg Wunderlich (does the MoFi vinyl releases) are all good, too. Previous big names to look for are: Rudy Van Gelder (if you get into jazz you’ll quickly learn about him) and Roy DuNann (west coast jazz) for jazz. These guys did it all, and also engineered and mixed their recordings. Robert Ludwig (his original Led Zeppelin II cut is legendary). Also did Houses of the Holy, Back in Black, Band of Gypsys, The Nightfly, Brothers in Arms, and a ton more. However, once the loudness war started he kinda went off the deep end with it. George Peckham (lots of UK pressings of many, many things, from individual Beatle solo work to Joy Division, but various US Zeppelin stuff was also done by him). Doug Sax (did some of the Doors’ catalog, and a good amount of Pink Floyd). Steve Hoffman (of the aforementioned Steve Hoffman Forum). George Piros. Wally Traugott. Barry Diament. Dennis Drake. Lee Hulko. And tons more. The recording is obviously the most important aspect, but a good recording can still sound shitty with a poor mastering. Audiophile labels that come to mind first are Analogue Productions, Mobile Fidelity, Intervention Records, Speaker’s Corner, Impex. Anything else can be hit or miss, and it will be important to see who mastered it. It can be complicated. You know, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-yous.

I do split mine out into 3 groups, but may do it further. Jazz Soundtrack/electronic/ambient Everything else And I guess box sets are separated, too.
