  1. Nope.  I'm not doing that. Ever.

I don't hate him for doing it though.  Honestly, it smells like a "I really really don't want to ship briskets, but I'm sick of people asking if I will, so here" kind of move.

  2. Passionate 'Front Row Joe' Trump supporter dies in highway crash near St. Peter

    https://www.startribune.com/passionate-front-row-joe-trump-supporter-dies-in-hwy-crash-near-st-peter/572804072/

There are so many nuggets in this article, but here are the highlights.

    Quote

A southwestern Minnesota man whose passionate support for President Donald Trump took him to dozens of political events around the country and recently to the White House was killed in a highway crash while returning from a political celebration in Florida...

    Quote

He’s been to dozens of Trump gatherings, 23 alone in 2016, earning himself national media attention on CBS News and as far away as Australia. He would usually show up a full half-day early to claim a good spot.

    Quote

In January 2019, Thom’s political enthusiasm led to his being arrested at a presidential campaign rally for Elizabeth Warren in Storm Lake, Iowa. He got into a scuffle with supporters of the Massachusetts senator. Thom pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

    Quote

A month later, a dog Thom owned and named after Donald Trump was shot and killed, prompting rumors that the incident was politically motivated. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office concluded the person responsible was legally protecting livestock on private property. Neighbors lodged many complaints about Thom’s dogs running loose, killing animals and attacking a person, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

    Quote

Evidence of recent alcohol use by Thom was detected at the scene, according to the patrol. Thom was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol added.

    RIP Thom.

  3. I don't see the point of him going to the the Oval Office.  He can tweet from his bed as easily as he can from the Resolute Desk.  I lost count on the current count, but I think that tweets/retweets in the triple digits today is a lock.

  4. Do any of you get HBO Max through YoutubeTV?  I have have YoutubeTV but currently pay Amazon for HBO, but- because of their pissing contest- it does not include Max.  Does HBO Max on YoutubeTV include the whole On Demand Catalog, or is it just the live channel?

  5. The word he was trying to read was "fortuity".  Still flubbed it- and there's no doubt that he doesn't know what it means- but the word wasn't "fortune". He knows that word well- it's his favorite gift from daddy that he keeps losing.

My brother is looking into planning a Cuyuna trip. Looks fantastic

Cuyuna  (in North Central Minnesota) IS fantastic!  I took the boy for 3 days to celebrate his 10th birthday.  It's unbelievable what they've done  --and are doing-- in that area!

For those who don't know the story, here's some background:

I think they're up to just over 30 miles of trails and are constantly adding more.  Everything about it was perfect.  The town (Crosby) is your quintessential small town and has completely embraced the bikers.  The downtown has lots of restaurants, antique stores, and support for the bikers.  Although we brought our own bikes, I was really impressed by the available bikes for rent at the Red Raven. You can get a day on a full suspension Santa Cruz for $50, for instance.

    We stayed here:

    True_North_Basecamp_Crosby_Minnesota_01.

One night we stayed in a cabin and the other was at a beautiful campsite.  Both were on property and you could wake up in the morning and ride right into the trails.  The trails themselves are rocky (as you may expect at an old mine) but really nicely managed and marked.  I had a map in my pocket but never needed it thanks to the kiosks, trail signs, and unbelievably friendly people.  We stuck mostly to greens and blues but did tackle one black, which proved to be too steep a climb for my son but none of the 3 or 4 riders who passed us batted an eye when they had to maneuver past him- every one of them offered encouragement on the way by.  Eventually he made it up and shredded the decent.

I'm still relatively new to mountain biking so I can't compare it to much, but as a destination this was about as much fun as I've had in a really long time.

Restaurants that have "boneless wings" on the menu. When I order chicken wings, I hate having to clarify that I want the damn bones in them. Feel free to keep your sauced up nuggets on the menu, but please don't call them wings.

I’m waiting for the next drop of Rhyme Animal, man.

But yeah, my wife likes Banana Straws too.

Pulpit does slay those fruit and pastry sours, but I still like beer that tastes like beer.

I don't know Rhyme Animal so I looked it up on BA.  Here's a review:

"Fully opaque chicken stock with a slightly convex khaki foam that bubbles down quickly.
I smell Sweet Tarts with white bread and taste biscuit with citrus and tropical juices."

Fucking A man! I mean come on!

I’m the exact same way. I like IPAs/APAs and pale lagers/Pilsners. I completely don’t give a shit about BA stouts, fruit sours, or anything with pastry.

I’ll try and sometimes enjoy those beers, but fuck chasing it.

Amen! Except, um... do you happen to know whether Pulpit Rock has any Banana Straws left? I would absolutely travel for that... I mean, my wife likes them.

Buddy in Minnesota shipped me some locals.....I don’t think he likes me very much

All good breweries, but I don't think I've had a single one of those beers.

It's amazing to me how much my habits have changed in the last 3 years.  I don't mean that I drink any less,  I just don't bother to hunt down whales and special releases anymore.

Minneapolis police say a man suspected in a Wednesday afternoon homicide fatally shot himself hours later on Nicollet Mall as officers closed in, sparking protests and looting in the heart of downtown.

The man, who is Black, was wanted in the slaying of a man in a downtown parking garage, was on foot at 8th and Nicollet at 6 p.m. As police pulled up, he ducked into a doorway and shot himself in the head while onlookers scrambled away. The man has not been identified.

The incident was captured on city surveillance video, which police released within 90 minutes. The video confirms the police account of what happened, and shows the man glance over his shoulder before pulling out the gun and firing, then collapsing to the ground as a half dozen witnesses ran away with their hands in the air. The officers, once of whom had his gun drawn, shooed a remaining witness away and kicked the man’s gun away before performing chest compressions.

“This video has been released to help quell rumors and hopefully thwart civil unrest,” said police spokesman John Elder. “We are able to release the video in this instance because they are city cameras and our officers were not involved in any deadly use of force. Had that been the case, we would have turned all of this over to the (Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.)”

Elder said the officers’ body cameras were on, but will not be immediately released.

There's video of the suicide but I'm not going to link it.
