What's the reason for the twitter suspension?

Great question.  I don't think anyone really knows yet.  Here's an article that gives a little more info on it.

    https://www.mediaite.com/weird/george-santoss-official-congressional-twitter-account-mysteriously-suspended/

What appears to be the verified Twitter account for Rep. George Santos (R-NY) was listed as suspended, then seemingly briefly restored, and then apparently suspended again on Friday without an explanation.

The account for serial liar Santos as a government official has only been live a short time, and although his campaign account, @Santos4Congress, is untouched — his last tweet was denying another lie — the official account was suspended on Friday.

This is the verified account with the new color-code system, meaning it had a grey checkmark with this designation: “This account is verified because it is a government or multilateral organization account.”

An archive search produced only one tweet on the account pre-suspension, from the 18th of January.

Twitter users noticed the account was suspended on Friday morning. Then the communications director for fellow Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz said that the account appeared to have been restored, but shortly after it was either once again or still suspended when other users, including this writer, visited the page.

Neither Twitter nor Santos have posted any explanations or comments on the suspension at the time of this post. If that happens we may update with more information.

Days after a Republican official told reporters that embattled Rep. George Santos once lied about being a college volleyball "star," a new report suggests that some of the "key elements" of Santos' story bear a striking resemblance to the resume of his former boss, Pablo Oliveira.

Inside Edition reports that Oliveira, who was Santos' boss at financial services company LinkBridge Investors, graduated from Baruch University, where he played on the school's winning volleyball team and was a two-time All-American volleyball player. A LinkedIn profile appears to back up Oliveira's resume, though little is known about LinkBridge itself.

The trouble with a show like this is I can't always tell if a bad review is coming from an anti-woke SJW/incel, or if it's really that bad of a show.

Well. Saying "Mindy Khaling has never been entertaining" definitely falls into that former group.

Exactly. Critics reviews can give you a better sense but user reviews are completely unreliable for projects like this.

  4. Glad this has its own thread.  Quoting again my favorite bit from the article about the guy who's pushing this narrative:

    Quote

Mack asserts that elected sheriffs are accountable only to their voters, not judges or legislators, even when other branches of government make or interpet the law. In effect, sheriffs can nullify a law by refusing to enforce it. “The federal government, the White House, or Congress do not hire us, they cannot fire us, and they cannot tell us what to do,” he wrote in his 2009 book “The County Sheriff: America’s Last Hope.”

Have we positively determined that he’s an American citizen?

Yeah, I think so.  There was a recent article in the Intelligencer entitled "Here's every Lie Told by George Santos". They actually missed a few (brain cancer survivor, one of the 1st Covid patients in the US), but they noted that his citizenship as about the only thing he's said that is true.

As he has claimed, Santos is a 34-year-old Republican born in Queens who will represent New York’s wealthiest congressional district. Other than that, pretty much everything is under scrutiny.

They didn't show their work, but I take it to mean it's been verified.

The Texas Tribune dropped a good story on it too.

Some 50 Texas sheriffs and numerous elected officials have attended trainings on the unsupported notion that sheriffs can single-handedly overrule state and federal law.

This topic could fit in bunch of different threads but honestly probably deserves it's own.  I can't even believe it- maybe i've just been away too long.

Forget campaign finance laws and congressional ethics inquires, maybe someone here can explain to me how raising millions in cash from individuals based entirely on lies doesn't constitute good old-fashioned fraud.

There are no fewer than 5 current investigations of George Santos right now.  They're all distinct but overlapping, and every single one of them revolves around good old fashioned fraud.  To your specific angle though, I think that would most closely fall under Nassau County's existing criminal investigation:

...the Nassau County, N.Y., district attorney’s office said it was looking into the “numerous fabrications and inconsistencies associated with Congressman-elect Santos” during his successful 2022 campaign to represent parts of Long Island and Queens.

On Sunday, a popular Brazilian late-night TV show called Fantástico aired a segment with new findings about Santos. The congressman reportedly used different names and nationalities—like Russian—on dating app profiles. He used variations of his name, too, including George Devolder, Anthony Devolder, and Anthony Zabrovski.

You think that'll be decided and done in the next 2 years? Because I don't.

I think he'll be arrested in a matter of months, not years.  You've got the DOJ, FEC, Brazil, and several local jurisdictions investigating it at once.  And to add to that, you've got the Washington Post and New York Times fighting over this story at level reminiscent of their Watergate rivalry.

This guy is not that sophisticated.  He made major mistakes, and it's all under a very thin veneer.

Sorry but you take that straight to the press.  You don’t give it to the candidate and hope for the best.  Especially after you see none of it has come out.  The press would absolutely have eaten this shit up.

The local newspaper North Shore Leader discovered it and reported on it months ago.  It was ignored.

Here's a short (5 minutes) interview with the publisher.

Warren didn't lie--she really believed she had native american blood.  My ancestry dna says I'm 10% Bantu, but I can't check boxes as African American, especially when I'm Conan O'Brian pasty white. She's fighting for their rights and liberties and they don't care, which is a special kind of stupid.

But Santos should be held accountable, along with the GOP religiosity.  Both should be contested publicly constantly--so that the public understands where religion stands and their hypocrisy.  That's not a way to grow your flock, and the young see it for what it is. And the GOP should have to defend their position, which is, when we need a seat, religion can get fucked.

I didn't state that Warren lied as my opinion or as fact.  I was only suggesting that it is the narrative from the GQP.  Here's the result of a 10 second (as long as I could stomach) scan on the FOX News comment section that I just now did:

Trust me, there are no shortage of similar comments.  Doesn't make them true, but it doesn't matter.  Whataboutism is a powerful force to the woefully stupid.

As for the idea that Christian voters should hold him accountable due to the incompatibility of lying and the teaching of the bible, you're right- they should. I'm sure they'll get around to it as soon as they're done punishing GOP politicians' views on capital punishment, adultery, and caring for the poor.
