  1. i think the biggest leap in my playing came when i bought a bunch of acoustics. of course i was also drunk and massively depressed, doing almost nothing but sitting on my couch and holding on to my pretty toys

This is an issue for you?

The next time I accidently switch pickups on my Tele or my Strats will be the first.

uh yeah for sure. strat volume knob is right where I want to anchor my hand and it's easy for me to hit the switch. don't even get me fucking started on the jaguar (not mine, back in the band days when I switched off with the other guitarist/bassist). I used painters tape on the stupid switches to keep them in place. no problem with teles. The hand position thing with the strat became a problem for me after I spent a long time playing mostly acoustics. Knocking switches around I find easy to do, but it's also probably influenced by leaning into performatively large right hand movements as stage presence

  2. there's a general disagreement about what it means to support something - some people think that if you say that you don't like something, you can do all the behaviors that feed and power that thing without supporting it. that's false and is surprisingly difficult for some of you to understand.

  3. Someone espousing a stupid opinion about wanting an event shut down is a different thing than actual police in riot gear teakettling a peaceful protest. Even if the people with the dumbass opinion are the ones being teakettled, which may or may not be the case here.

Just out of curiosity, were any of you there yesterday? Is Surly right? Cause I know that’s the popular version of what went on there. A lot of people like to believe that. I wish I could. But I was there. I wasn’t here on Surly hoping I was right, thinking about it. I was up to my knees in Bermuda grass, with bullhorns that didn’t work, going in there, looking for Elon, slugging it out with him, while pussies like you were back here partying, putting on headbands, doing drugs, and listening to the goddam 4th and 5 albums. Oh! Oh! Oh!

    is this a ygifs 🧦

  5. That looks great. I have my office in the same kind of green, it’s a nice energy. I would laugh at my wife if she suggested that I put up that wall accent thing, so good on you for being a handy dad.

took this picture at the park last week. Sometimes a picture just captures your kid being a kid in a way that triggers your love feelings.

also I found a new hobby in dressing the baby and sending the wife outfit pictures. She did not think that this made him look like a “rizzly bear”.

staggering lack of self awareness is staggering.

    Protests are fine.

Intimidation of groups of people is dead fucking wrong.  fuck you and anyone who allows situations like Cooper Union, the literal harassing intimidation of others.

And NO there is not evidence I have seen that harassing intimidation happened at UT yesterday.

The people who give the orders love this shit.

Every time they get to deploy their militarized police force is a step toward normalizing it.

Looking at the videos, the only danger I see is those police.  The kids are just chanting, and there are Israeli flags among the pro-Palestine crowd, and everything is fine.

This is cops arresting people because their bosses told them to, because those bosses want to, and because they can.  And it points to something much bigger than this protest.

If you love this stuff you hate America. Freedom out front should have told you.

  8. it also takes it a step further from... you can purchase a Tesla and own the car, and it has capabilities that you cannot access without paying to have them unlocked (like range). I know that that was a story a few years back and I assume it's the case now. You can own the car without being able to use the whole car because features are software locked. But this idea is that you can own the car but Tesla could just reach in and take your spare cycles to what, create the worlds most powerful racist AI using a mobile cloud of other people's vehicles? FSD crashed your Tesla into a building because Grok was thinking really hard about a new slur?
