So many ridiculous things about this post. lulz.

First, that's not what he said. He said "build and arm." Rising is a better passer and has a much higher ceiling as a passer.  Thompson struggled quite a bit with being consistently accurate in HS.

Second, making a comparison to how much weight VY gained is ridiculous. Thompson's frame could limit how much he can run.  He's 6'0, 190 with a fairly slender frame. He's also already pretty developed physically, so he doesn't have a whole lot of weight to add.

All that said, I like both a lot and it's tremendous that we got two quality QBs in the same class. They're very different players and the offense would look different with each of them at the helm.  At this point, it's hard to say who will be better because they both have a lot of developing left to do, and who knows what rate each will develop at.

But, Lawnghorn, if you absolutely had to choose, which would you bet on, based on the very limited sample you have witnessed?  Also, have you ever stated whom would you prefer between Sam and Shane?

Agreed that is impossible to predict what will happen. I watched Garrett Gilbert in HS and thought we had landed lightning in a bottle. Thompson and Rising sure both seem like they have great upside, but the list of players that washed out is long and illustrious.

Sadly, what Sparty and Baylor did was bigger than Penn State. More victims. Way more victims in Sparty's case.

It's an interesting take but I think Penn State is worse than Baylor. They're both horrible, but decades of abusing children is worse.

There is so much to hate about the off-season... lack of news, former  coaches, stupid NC2A rule changes, assholery by dumbfucks like Chip and Kurt...

The good part is that it's like having a bleeding wound on your leg, where the neighbor's fucking Jack Russell bit you...  you can't quit picking at it to see if you can get it to start scabbing properly, and eventually August arrives and the pain subsides to a dull ache with a nice scab over it, and then September rolls in and you have a nice pink patch of fresh new skin...

And then you get bit right in the same place by a fucking terrapin...

So, yeah, fuck Chip and Kurt and most of the 9.95ers, fuck Mack and Mackovic and Strong.

    Fuck the whole off-season.

    Oh, and 0U sucks.

    Reads like poetry.

This person gets it. Do not share his worthless information. Do not give him more attention on the interwebs. Do not listen to him on the radio. If you see him in a restaurant, say something mean to him. If you see him talking to small children on a playground, call the police.

  6. Watching that weird ritual where the player kicks the ball back out of the end zone after a kick is like watching a bad sci-fi movie about an alternative universe.

Regardless, anyone who's decoratively pronouncing how Sam will do next year is pretty silly.

Of course, it is all speculative, but that's what makes the off-season fun. While it's a bit of a stretch, I am basing my opinion on Sam's tremendous second-year progression in his last two levels of football. I fully expect to see the same this season.

That Duke Catalon guy looked pretty good. I wish we could have recruited him.

Does anyone see Catalon providing the blueprint for how we use Tre Watson?

it was 3.  OSU, Tech and SC.

OSU was his worst game. Tech was pretty bad but he did make some good plays and might even have caught a "Philly Special" TD if our WR had thrown the ball at the right moment. SC was almost an impossible game so early in his career, but he did give us the lead with less than a minute remaining, only to see it evaporate by poor special teams and defensive play. He then threw another TD in OT and was driving for a third, with his 9-yard run proceeding his fumble, and his fourth-quarter was pretty exceptional.

If Herman had made him the starter when he arrived and he had received the majority of snaps through Spring and pre-season, he would have been much better, but of course, that was never going to happen. I hope Tom doesn't mess around and split QB reps evenly in pre-season. Regardless, I predict a breakout year for Sam. Hook 'em.

This entire post is worthless.  You can't say the two names together.  It's an insult to Vince.  Secondly, where does his potential badass come from?  The four or five fucking games he personally lost us last year?

Please list the "four or five games he personally lost for us last year."

You ask this as a hypothetical but I can promise you I have lived the answer. To that point, what I know is that I would not have buttfucked the Oklahoma State game the way that dumbass did.

There's a huge difference between criticizing our players and outright insulting one of our key players. Find it.

  12. I am glad we have both Qb's plus the two incoming ones. I wish Sam could have red-shirted last season, but his various ups and downs will benefit him.

Many people here don't understand how deeply committed he is to the team's success, as evidenced by the "Sam will transfer if he doesn't start" comments.

Sam and the Horns are going to make a big move next season. Hook 'em.

Which would you say is more important, hard work or stick-to-itveness?

That's an interesting question. I think they are two related assets. If I could only choose one, I would say the latter.

  14. Congrats to Sam. Sam is blessed with something that simply can't be coached - determination. He was always the hardest worker on the team in HS, staying late to lift and setting a great example to his teammates. Like everything else he has accomplished, his acceptance into the business school is because he earned it. Expect a big progression from him as the full starter this season.
