You need professional help, nobody would do such a thing in real life..

Even weirder, the trophy was presented to him by a high-ranking school administrator. Such a stupid dream.

I think the term "mediocre" is being extremely generous.  I think you can make a case for a guy having a long career despite mediocre results.  Fisher is more a case of "failing upwards."

I wish I had half of his luck. No idea who such an obviously untalented coach lasted so long.

You might want to tell the president, because everything he does indicates that he doesn't believe any of that.

Well, I have to confess that I am not one of his biggest fans, but the hysteria (and media frenzy, which is what it is chiefly about) that surrounds him far outweighs his long-term impact.

  4. It's sometimes hard for people to understand because we all read the daily bad news, but the power of the US remains at an almost unprecedented level. In 1910, 10% of the countries were democratic. Now, around 60% of the counties are. This reflects the popularity of the US form of governance. Until the Euros are willing to fund their own defense, they continue to remain at the mercy of the US to defend themselves. Russia? They're not even a 10-ten world economy. Yes, China is very powerful, but they have their own issues. With all of our faults, we are still the choice for worldwide investors and the soft power of the US exists on a mind-boggling level.

  5. I had a really weird dream last night. The Aggies presented a future National Championship trophy to a new coach who had yet to coach a game. The actual date is to be added later. Then I woke up. Sometimes, dreams make no sense whatsoever.

  6. I finally saw the Greatest Game Ever Played documentary where they interview Jeff Fisher and he laments the demise of Vince Young - what a piece if shit he was/is.

I love the documentary about Nick Foles. It makes me happy to see the footage of Fisher cutting Foles, since it demonstrates on camera how stupid Fisher is. After playing for Fisher, Foles nearly quit the game of football, but good coaches helped him succeed. I hope someone reminds Fisher every day about how stupid he is.

Kind of reminds me of the Dallas Carter stuff.  Most of those kids were from good 2-parent families, but they somehow decided that because they were good at football, they were untouchable.

Watching those dads on the 30 for 30 talk about it was just heartbreaking.

That's such a strange story. The whole thing is so sad.

  8. What is strange is that he seems like his dad was involved. Shame that he didn't get better guidance to keep him on a better path. His friends looks like he was the main culprit but who knows.

My buddy Kevin is a Domer. Other than the Notre Dame thing he's a good guy. I kid, he's a good guy. But he said early on that Paterno had two choices.

    1. He could have stopped it and been a hero to even hardened Pitt folks like me.

    or

    2. He could do nothing for fear of the football program having a bad reputation. He chose Door #2 because football pays for it all up there in Crappy Valley and he ran the entire show. But of course now the Nitters will tell you that Paterno was old, he didn't know anything about that sort of thing.

Like your friend, Kevin, I also used to feel that Joe Paterno knew about Sandusky. But then me and CurlyDumps  watched an infomercial created by the Paterno family that clearly established that Joe was innocent and that the Holocaust never actually occurred. In it, a highly paid, I mean highly credible expert provided really engaging information that pretty much cleared Joe of everything and also confirmed that the Holocaust never occurred! Additionally, since Joe informed a Washington Post reporter that he didn't know that a man and a boy could actually engage in that type of behavior and that it never occurred to him that he should alert the police about the heinous criminal activity that he was protecting, the Happy Valley District Attorney was already preparing to burn all of the evidence, I mean drop all of the charges.

Then, in a touching move, Joe asked that his statue, I mean the Statute of Limitations be removed under cover of darkness.

I hope this clears up everything. Free Joe Pa!

  10. Judge Ralph Strother of Waco's 19th State District Court said he reluctantly accepted the 18-year plea bargain.

"Sounds to me that given the opportunities you have had in your life, and the fact that you considered associating with someone as heinous as Art Briles, you are fortunate to be getting the deal you are getting," Strother told Cobb.

Cobb's attorney, J.R. Vicha, declined any personal contact with Art Briles after Monday's brief hearing.

The coach took a "Dr. Strange" ass whipping by 12 points, became unglued of the same reality his squad placed upon other foes...

It just shows the inability of some who attempt to be in the coaching profession to take in loss, what you give in victory, is a limited concept..?

So true. And frankly, some of the people "coaching" youth sports are the worst excuses for coaches.

I have been to India multiple times on business and I have seen these monkeys firsthand.  I have never seen them do this before but I can see it happening.  This made me laugh out loud.  I had to close my office door to watch it again!

That kid who flipped the bird messed with the wrong monkey.

It's almost always a case of "it's ok, until it happens to me" from most of the coaches & players; no matter the case...

They beat our B team by four scores and were still throwing until the end. We beat them by 12 and their coach comes screaming at our coach after the game. Tres bizarre, no?

Some super cool guy called badmofo.  He won the job by deepthroating an entire plantain.  It was quite a contest.  Everyone was told to bring their own banana, but badmofo, being the bad motherfucker that he Is, brought a plantain.  Plantains, as you're probably aware,  are much larger and coarser than regular bananas.  We were all so impressed that we begged him to run this ship.  He celebrated by offering to take on a butternut squash, but after a heated debate, we decided it wasn't necessary.

Careful, Badmofo is the big deal on the interwebs. Some of his many threads on Shaggy are up to 10 responses.

This makes sense to me if it was only still photos where this showed up but it shows up on video as well. Is the frame rate for video camera's different than what shows up on the TV's in the locker room?

Yes. As I mentioned before, video is usually recored at 30 frames a second but also gets done at 28 and 29 frames per second. You'll notice that the baseball game on the multi-screens behind the players looks fine. Also, HD and 4K screens may also mess with video recordings in a different way, but how exactly, I am not sure.
