I'll be there with a guest for sure and may have a colleague plus his fiancé join in.  Already picked up tickets to the game so it's on.

I’m about 90% sure I’ll be there. I’ll bring the bait.

  2. Looks like I’m fishing 6 tournaments down there this year. Short tournaments are in Quepos and the longer ones in Los Suenos.

    Jan 10-12 and 14-19

    Feb 15,16 and 25- Mar2

    Mar 25-30

    Apr 26-27

Can’t make any promises but if anyone is down there around those dates, especially the day or two before the tournaments, I can probably get you out fishing. Just let me know here or private message.

  3. Smart? No. Trainable? Yes and easy.

Ive had 3 and my dad has had 3. Best dogs ever. Had to put my last one down about 2 months after Harvey. I’m pretty sure he would have made it another year or so if it wasn’t for the storm. I am gone fishing too much right now to get another one, but I will one day.

  4. Yeah I heard about that and thought of you wondering if it was the same river. Don’t know if they had big rains after you left or it was delayed runoff from the rains before you were there.

Our O was moving the ball against a KSU that is clearly a bit better than initially thought. Tulsa was murdering our D in the first half; the O wasn’t the problem. And Sam’s performance the whole game against TCU was good. I agree, again, that our O is a work in progress and not sold on the notion that we are world beaters. But it is progressing - with Sam - and regresses with Shane.

We were ahead of Tulsa 21-0 at the half. Are you watching different games than the rest of us? Pretty much agree with the rest of it.

Of course they happened and I never stated otherwise. Also, MD wasn’t that bad until the 4th, Tulsa and KSU first halves weren’t that bad, and TCU first half wasn’t that bad. As opposed to yesterday, where our QB held us back the whole game outside of about 5 minutes of play.

We scored one fucking offensive TD against KSU. We were losing to TCU at halftime. Tulsa was a few missed field goals and dropped TD passes from beating us. You covered Maryland. Just stop. Our offense is mediocre at best no matter which one plays quarterback. Our record and beating OU is silencing most of the complaining.

  7. Not a fan but that’s not my type of food. I know a lot of people like it though. They opened a location in the marina but it didn’t make it and my guess is it was mostly due to the fact that the marina still doesn’t get much of the tourist foot traffic unless people are there for an activity. That probably won’t change until they get the marina hotel built. They need that in a bad way. The lodging options in Quepos proper suck.

Most D 1 teams have much better backup options. If by “effective enough” you mean “almost cost us a home loss against Baylor but his D and Ingram bailed him out effectively enough to eek out a listless win” I agree with you.

Tulsa, Kstate, first half of TCU, and MD didn’t happen in your world? Shane wasn’t good yesterday, either. In short, you are the idoit.

  9. Sorry but I was pretty sure that was going to happen. You just got unlucky on the timing. 2 weeks ago you would have been fine and so would probably a few weeks from now. They cook your dorado at runaways?

Really enjoyed that fishing report off the frenzy website from March 2012

Wish I had better news for you but unfortunately other than dorado they aren’t catching much. Green water has pushed in and the billfish have mostly moved out. It can change quickly though so hope it goes well

  11. Lol yeah they are much better at fishing than updating with actual reports.

Their captain Jose and first mate Marco have been together over 10 years. Guy Harvey charters that boat when he is in town to fish and film if that tells you anything.

While I’d love to do the overnight trip, I don’t think I can get my wife to do that, and the cost is a bit prohibitive. I might be more interested in Jaco just because I haven’t seen that part.

When I did basic fishing (not sailfish, it was June)in Quepos it wasn’t that great. We caught a few but it was relatively uneventful. If I go out of Jaco I want to make sure to get a good captain and boat.

While only about 45 miles up the road towards San Jose from Quepos/MA, Jaco has a completely different vibe. It’s nothing like Arenal either. It’s more of a party and surfing town. Best way for me to describe it is that it’s crowded like Quepos, but more modern with lots of restaurants, bars, shops, a decent casino, and condos. Los Suenos is 5 minutes away and it is an enormous gated, private resort with a Marriott hotel and lots of nice houses and condos. The marina is there. It doesn’t really feel like CR to me, but I prefer staying there instead of Jaco.

The best charter captains in CR are based out of the Los Suenos marina and they get completely booked during the prime season. The best guy there IMO is Mike with http://www.epicfishingcostarica.com/. Followed closely by world famous Bubba Carter http://captbubbacarter.com/

If y’all decide to go back to MA, there are very good options there too. http://www.frenzysportfishing.com/ is the best true charter, but if you get lucky I can sometimes get people on to private boats.

  13. There are always a few sails around. You’ll get some shots at them I’d guess. There have been some marlin caught lately too. I’ll try to get a current report. Our boat is out of the water so we haven’t fished, but I know some of my captains friends have been going on good weather days
