A 1900 sq ft house down the street in Allandale just sold for 1.1M cash. More than 200K over list. The owner bought it for 550K 3 years ago.

Damn. At one time I thought I would be upgrading to a new house. Now it looks like a remodel is my only option.

That is some serious appreciation... i'm seeing things in my neighborhood going for 50% more per sqft than 3-4 years ago but not double.

I work in the healthcare industry (admin work) and I'm completely confused with the recommendations on when you are exposed to someone who discovers they're covid positive.

Obviously if I immediately have symptoms, that's the easiest path: assume I have COVID and get tested ASAP. Take all necessary precautions to self-isolate.

But what if I don't have symptoms?

• How many days should I wait to get tested?
• Should I take multiple tests over an extended period, assuming each test is negative?
• Is it possible to get others sick when you remain asymptomatic and haven't had a positive test yet? (assuming you ultimately have covid.)

One of the problems is that daily or semi-weekly testing isnt feasible for most people. I can appreciate that medical experts revise recommendations as they get new information but I struggle to follow.

I think symptoms should show up after 48 hours so that's when you could test. Had a similar experience after a potential exposure but after 3 days and no symptoms we still tested negative so went on about our business.

I'm not sure it's conclusive but with no symptoms and especially testing negative I think the risk of passing it on would be just about zero.

A bit of a CSB, but also a bit of a weird Covid thing.  Wife and I had horrible cases of food poisoning last week.  Sunday and Monday are a total blur of Exorcist-level projectile vomiting and worse.  Highish (103) fever, chills, extreme fatigue, body aches, extreme headaches, etc. Sickest I personally have ever been in my life.

But then the kids (15 yo) got it on Tuesday and Wednesday (about 3-4 after us), even though  they didn’t share a meal with us in the relevant time. Christmas was fantastic for them.  Kids opening presents laying on the bathroom floor and that sort of thing.

And, 10 days in, the wife and I still have intermittent low-grade fever and fatigue during the day.  Kids have periods of extreme fatigue but no fever we’ve seen.

Weirder still, my 74 yo MIL who lives with us has no symptoms still - despite lots of contact immediately prior to illness, especially with the kids.

So my doc made us go in and take a Covid test at our day 4 when the kids got sick.  Negative.  Kids took home tests.  Negative. Same for day 7.  But he still suspects Covid.

Wife’s doc, who practices at the same place, has all but said that’s not possible. It’s a norovirus, albeit a worse one than usual. But before the kids got sick she was also equally adamant that it was absolutely foodborne.

My doc has thought Covid basically from the jump.  He says in a month I will show positive for N antibodies and he will be vindicated.  Neighbor who is a epidemiologist feels like my guy is probably right.

So I am never coming in contact with anyone else ever again.  But has anyone else ever seen symptom profile like this from Covid?

I've been feeling a lesser version of your symptoms since Monday, I'm pretty sure I got a stomach bug from my nephew, since his dad was just getting over it when I saw them over the weekend. Off and on low grade fever, at home tests have shown negative twice. I'd like to find a testing place in Houston I won't have to wait more than half an hour, but sites have been slammed since Christmas

Was going to say this. A real nasty stomach bug has been going around and decimated my wife and kids over the past few weeks. Horrible vomiting all night and now my 2yo has stopped vomiting but has some awful shits. So many of my friends have been dealing with this too. Negative on COVID.

4. Solid win this week so Championship game for the second year in a row but need to win this time. Lamar Jackson not being on the field has made it a little tough but hopefully we starts this week.

Thoughts on line up:

1 RB, 3 WRs and 1 Flex

Zeke Elliott, Joe Mixon and D'Andre Swift

Keenan Allen, Jaylen Waddle, Van Jefferson, KJ Osborne, Jakobi Meyers

Current starters in bold but with the matchup should I risk Swift over Zeke? Jefferson has been pretty weak the past few weeks too... Osbourne over him?

Took my lumps on RXMD and my remaining HMBL shares today.  Mega-f'n-OOF.  I sold ~8,000 shares of HMBL around $4.15 or so when it ran and kept ~4,300 shares to sell when I hit long term gainz.  Never made it...

RXMD was one of the worst L's I've ever taken on a stonk.  I kept buying the dip like f'n goofy and ended up with 110,000 shares.

That sucks. I rode HMBL all the way up and now all the way down and am just at even. Probably will just hold but I'm definitely disappointed that I didn't take at least some profit while it was flying high.

I'm in  RXMD at .074 so down significantly. I suppose I could sell but this thing has to gain a little life at some point correct? I sold a couple winners earlier in the year but now all i'm left with is a bunch of depressing bags that match my Tech stonk bags.

Barely missed out on one of the rare Top Shot packs sold today. The queue had 6500 packs for sale. When it ended I was 19th in line. Only needed a few more people to fall asleep waiting for their turn.

Ouch. I didn't qualify for the Legendary but was about 1000 behind for the Rare pack. I did end up buying the Booker 1st moment with dapper plus the spend credit. Overall my account is still around 60% of what I've put in so I guess I will just continue to hold and see how things continue to develop with this project.

If I had a big lump today, I'd be looking to buy land or real estate in Texas outside of the major cities where you can still find some value. Pretty easy to justify diversifying if you already have a lot in the market.

If I had the money I'd buy a house in central Austin and cash flow it. Create an LLC and run all expenses through that. On top of throwing off several thousand a month you could make around 8-10% annually on the entire home value. I suppose you could do that anywhere to as long as you could find a steady stream of renters / STR interest.

8. If they did decide to bury I35 it sure would take care of the homeless issue of people camping under I35. Sure the parks above it could then be where they go however I would feel the city would be invested in keep those parks nice and usable for the general public and keep that from happening. Recently, much of the blatant camping in that area is gone and those people have moved in to parks that were previously not affected. Chavez and I35 area is still a huge mess however.

East of 35 have been developed quite a bit however the block or 2 on either side is still quite rough and this makeover could help that.

NBA Top Shot is coming out with a new Legendary pack next week, with improvements to reward their hardcore collectors with better chances while still giving everyone a chance at pulling a pack. Seems fair to me. Last year everyone had an equal shot at these packs so there were first-time buyers winning legendary packs and just flipping for a quick profit. Not to mention that Top Shot wasn't preventing bots or multiple-account-owners from participating.

Everyone a chance? I think even the general queue needs a 10,000 collector score which is not easy to get to.

Speaking of demolished.....am I the only chump still holding onto PUGE? I did get on free shares shortly after buying in, but that stock has been dog shit for some time now and has cratered about 40% in the last few days. Its below my original buyin price now. Not considering cost averaging down, but I am considering salvaging the few hundred bucks I have left. Anybody following this POS enough to verify whether there's any hope for a spike in the future, or did I fail to get out before the dump?

PUGE tying hard today

11. Well damn. my wife was just told that she had a coworker test positive for COVID today and this person was at Holiday party last night. I'm guessing it would still be a few days before she could get a test to confirm but should we pull kids from school and sit at home this week? I thought I heard recent CDC rules were not to quarantine but maybe wear a mask since fully vaccinated? What a fucking pain.

Both vaxxed but neither of us have had it yet.

Thinking about doing this too.

For those who are more experienced than me, how difficult is it to write off the losses when you file taxes? Will TurboTax pull the info and do it for me or do I need to know what I’m doing? This will be the first year that I have any short term gains/losses realized

TurboTax can import and do all the heavy lifting for you

Not the only chump, i'm right here with you. I think people are still waiting it out

14. This how you do it gents. Awesome. The FIL is prob dipping in peroxide as we speak. He is going euro as well. Great deer deadshank

Nice. I skipped doing a euro with mine this year. I feel like I’ve done this without taking the face off before. Just boil all day and then take it to a car wash sprayer to clean it up and get out all the inside stuff.
