  1. I completely disagree that stand up is "mostly dead." I'm not sure what you're basing that on. It may not be what it once was, but the big name comedians still sell out shows, there are still HBO comedy specials watched by millions. It's still how many comedic actors get their start (see SNL). However, if it is dying a slow death, I'm going to agree with the professionals (Seinfeld, Chris Rock, et al) regarding the causes. They should know.
  2. Probably why Bill Burr isn't a household name like the others I mentioned. As for Seinfeld, this is from the Salon article.
  3. Some guys named Seinfeld, Cleese, and Rock, et al, would disagree with you. Jerry Seinfeld: Political Correctness Will Destroy Comedy 10 famous comedians on how political correctness is killing comedy: “We are addicted to the rush of being offended”

  5. Oh he understands it. He's just betting his base doesn't (and he's right).
  6. Yep. PC and snowflakery have killed comedy. I'm just glad I grew up in a time when movies were still funny.

  9. Watched this last night. I thought it was excellent. Jason Clarke was outstanding.
  10. Yeah, Stephen King probably shouldn't be criticizing someone else's looks.
  11. Yeah, this. Plenty of stories of his dickishness on display in Austin bars & restaurants (including at least one I can remember that was covered in local media). And if you know anyone who's had to work around him, as I do, they will tell you first hand how poorly he treats people.

  16. It's amazing how fast the half goes when there are no penalties/flops.
  17. I was at the Saturday night show. My first time there as well. Beautiful chilly evening and just a great concert.
