  1. Lots of MGP goes for big money tho. Maybe when they have 10-12 year wheated mash bill product.
  2. I have all those open and approve. The Boone County Wheated is about the best quality to secondary price ratio bourbon available. Can’t figure out why it doesn’t get more play.
  3. Ha, damn. I’ve wanted to try that since passing it up for something like $58/pour at a speakeasy in Charlotte. Now that it’s going for $70/oz secondary that price you paid doesn’t seem insane. Thanks for cutting down a bit of my FOMO.
  4. “Master Distiller Selected” indeed. They means the store took what Brown Forman sent them.
  5. It was a foul, but the refs were ready to go home.
  6. Put that Mobley dunk on a poster and I’m a buyer.
  7. I was thinking the same thing about USC.
  8. I need to unload mine for something I like better. The one i have came in a series of trades when they were bringing low 200s. MGP really hits its stride at 10-12, GTFO with the 8 year at 400.
  9. The SW picks and DJ blew up and it’s a little confusing to me. My Spec’s 8 yr is $400 and I’ve seen 12s trade for ‘20 Stagg/Handy. Not sure I get it and I love some MGP.
  10. I have the port finished and it lands solidly between Wild Turkey Revival and Angel’s Envy on sweetness and quality. Worth picking up at MSRP if you’re the kind of guy who likes finished bourbons leaning toward the sweet side. I’ve had worse finished bourbons over $100 so there’s that.
  11. Could’ve used at least one “Bill Self wishes he was in his safe place, amirite?” to go with all that fear mongering.
  12. Not sure which is more dead, this great bottle of MGP or KU’s basketball team.
  13. Well, not sure what’s wrong with Colorado but this looks good.
  14. It’s decent. I have them all and would say 3 >>>>> 2, 4, 1.
  15. This Thomas S Moore port finished is really growing on me. Killer nose and a decent palate if a bit sweet. Not quite as balanced and oaky as the WTMK Revival, but half the price. I ran through a little over half the bottle at LBJ this weekend, but could have easily finished it if not for switching to an Alamo City Larceny pick after the first two drinks every night.
  16. Looks like somebody hit the glass case at a good Spec’s really hard. Let me know how the WJ15 goes, I have a 14 I haven’t ever bothered to open.
  17. Not a bad offer, way cheaper for sure.
  18. It catches so much shit but I really like it. Down to about 1/3 of a bottle in my open one now. It’s less sweet than most Cognac/Armagnac finishes and you can still grab it for $250 secondary and have a PHC on your bar without breaking the bank.
  19. No, I tried a sample of the XO and couldn’t pull the trigger. I have a Le Freche, Le Sable and Pibous single barrels though. The HBS XO is stacked deep on the shelf in Austin if you’re looking.
  20. Auction mail day. Now time to see if I can flip one of these PHC 5ths for a Promise of Hope. Also my first bottle of old label ECBP.
  21. Burning through some samples last night and comparing ‘16 Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye with Kentucky Owl 02. Michter’s won in a landslide.
  22. Good for a Texas bourbon, not good for Texas bourbon. Although I supposed you could say a Texas bourbon that doesn’t suck is good for Texas bourbon. Picture a barrel strength Elijah Craig toasted with that signature Texas bitterness.
  23. It’s good for Texas bourbon, one of my favorites of the genre. Worth picking up if money isn’t an issue.
  24. Daaamn. Biggest hype bottle of ‘21 so far right there.
