  1. I might give it a listen. They are crazy sneaky when they want to be and they have a habit of circling you to get downwind and smell you, which is creepy. But don’t listen to anybody who tells you they can run quietly. I’ve been around them most of my adult life and they sound like a heard of elephants when they’re running. They are generally pretty loud when they’re not trying to be quiet.
  2. Ha, I’ve been bluff charged before on Admiralty Island carrying a 10lb BAR in 300 win mag and I was still scared out of my mind. I’m more concerned about not dying than how much it weighs. This is still more portable than a rifle or shotgun.
  3. Point is it could be traded for something in the $350 range. I don’t mind paying secondary for great stuff, but this doesn’t live up to the hype.
  4. It’s good, but I might trade mine away after getting a sample. It’s more like $200 good than $350 good.
  5. Since my wife is the best I now have my first new revolver in over a decade. This 460 will be my Alaska bear gun so I can quit borrowing my BIL’s 44. But since everything is terrible I’m waiting a week to get ammo unless I luck into some locally in Austin. My plan is to start with some 45 colt and work up to the real deal before practicing on a whitetail from my tree stand.
  6. Spec’s guy be like, “it’s our best selling Disney+ tie-in bourbon! Super smooth!”
  7. The ‘19 one is good, haven’t had the ‘20. I picked up my ‘19 when secondary was $165 and then traded two W12 for a 15 year old fitz. The decanters sit on my top shelf looking pretty.
  8. No, a good 9-11 year Elijah Craig pick is better and under $35.
  9. It’s good and has lots of stone fruit notes that I really like. Value is a weird thing, but I’m not mad that I was drinking Stitzel Weller on a beautiful afternoon even if it’s 80 proof.
  10. Speaking of Rebel Yell I picked up a 1990 Stitzel Weller today to drink while I smoked beef ribs.
  11. This is BEC and is getting pretty old at this point. Buffalo Trace maintained a website where you could leave reviews based on which bottling you purchased and I think they even made the results public. I’ve only had one and it’s pretty unremarkable.
  12. Nevermind the OWA. I’ll say it again, Redemption Wheated is better than both non-store pick OWA and RY10. It’s also cheaper and more available if you’re more into the drinking than collecting.
  13. I get some decent stuff there sometimes, but they also like to recommend Broken Saddle and stupid shit like that.
  14. Redemption Wheated 4R Small Batch Select Elijah Craig Small Batch Store Pick Pikesville Rye Russell’s Reserve Store Pick John Bowman Single Barrel JD Single Barrel Proof OF 1920 Knob Creek 12 *EH Taylor Small Batch *slightly hard to find at the 10th spot, but you should be able to ask around and find one.
  15. Only had to try two Spec’s to grab a backup.
  16. It has sold out everywhere instantly and/or didn’t hit front shelves unlike the rest of the the Woodford Master’s series. Secondary was over $250 but settling in the low $200s. It’s really good and tastes like there’s plenty of 17 y/o in the blend. I tried it with WT Diamond and Michter’s 10 (‘18) and it topped both. It probably couldn’t hang with WT 17 Bottled in Bond but it doesn’t suck at all for $119.
  17. If you get the call on the Woodford your answer should be yes. It’s better than ‘18 M10 bourbon and absolutely blew WT Diamond away. It would probably get abused by Boone County 12 or Lot B in a real 90 proof showdown, but it’s very good.
  18. That Dr Pepper competition makes me miss Leinart.
  19. St.-Brown abused that corner.
  20. Crack that Grand Cru and tell us how it is. And yes, trading up is always a good trade.
  21. The SH14 was cheaper at my Spec’s and I think I got the general idea of what small batch 14 year Barton tastes like so I didn’t bother grabbing a Calumet. The SH14 was a great value this summer in age stated tater bourbon.
  22. I cracked the Woodford Master’s Batch 16 last night and have to admit it’s pretty damn good. Right down the fairway of sweet, oaky bourbon even if it’s pretty low proof. I’ll do a side by side with a couple other similar options like WT Diamond and W12 and see what comes out on top. It’s a buy if $119 doesn’t matter to you and you want to try it. Oh, and the weird neck poured well and the giant stopper isn’t actually that big.
  23. Yeah, thousands of people know about Oak Liquor Cabinet and call him relentlessly about Blanton’s.
  24. Toasted isn’t really very good. I traded two away for other bottles after opening one. B520 is supposed to be great, tho. Crack that and try it with another ECBP if you have one. I’ve only seen them in co-packs at Twin and I’ll be damned if I’m choking down a White Walker to get a B520.
  25. Ha, oh God. Help.
