  1. It’s better than RC6. I especially like the classy screw top. I won a bottle in a charity thing when it was distillery only and was pleasantly surprised. Otherwise I mostly like to put Makers in blind tastings just to see it lose over and over.
  2. $80, $60, $60, DGAF, $100. I’ve paid more for worse. Rarity included and to have them on my shelf I’d pay more.
  3. Heard nothing good about 1792 12 yr and passed at retail. But if you send me a sample I’ll pour it side by side with SH14 and then confirm that it’s better because I want to believe that. But damn, if W12 is the trade champ then 1792 Sweet Wheat should get honorable mention. $34.99 and sometimes on the shelf 6 deep at Spec’s but going for $120+ secondary.
  4. Killers just put an Ashley Simpson grade halftime show out there.
  5. It’s Kentucky, probably Barton. But it’s pretty damn good for not being MGP.
  6. Best trade bait award 2016-2020.
  7. I need that Chapter 4 to complete my set but it’s already come and gone from TW. LB is riding the chapter 3 hype and the secondary value is quickly approaching retail for 4. I’ll still buy it though.
  8. Old Carter uses the light whiskey from MGP, goes into used barrels. You can make legal bourbon out of any kind of oak.
  9. Nothing good ever happens from trying to talk to TW shills. At least you might actually get something out of Twin and Spec’s.
  10. I too hate MGP. Prove me wrong.
  11. Team 1%er MGP over here. Start trying some BT stuff side by side blind and then you can see where it lands without the hype. But yes, 1833 will smoke pretty much anything 90 proof if you do it blind.
  12. That specific story line is so insane but I see it all the time.
  13. I got one (store pick that is) in SA today if that makes you feel any better.
  14. Holy balls, this is amazing. WLW ish for 1/6th of the secondary value. Larceny BP is a drain pour in comparison.
  15. Haha, no. You have a long way to go from 50 unless it’s me that has a problem.
  16. Ha, that’s great. Although smooth ambler’s own wheated distillate is hot garbage so they do have that in common.
  17. Balmorhea is an 8 on the Texas scale and a 4 or 5 on the Kentucky/Indiana scale. They’re not even playing in the same league.
  18. I love Magnus Cigar and would love to try the Bardstown take on the theme. I’m sure Weller SB is good and all, but seems like it’s probably not much better than Poor Man’s Pappy which should cost you about $50 to make. Pretty sure you came out on top there.
  19. Just got back from our annual Alaska trip where we absolutely wrecked shop on the silver salmon. This place is about an hour and a half from Juneau and we did some fishing there last year. This year we didn’t bother with other locations other than scouting. These pics are from four days where it took between 2:45 and 4:15 to catch 12+ salmon (excluding pinks) on two rods which is about all we like to process in a day. I also racked up 4 Kings which is my best total since I was in college. The Halibut is all bycatch from trolling or dropping lines while cleaning fish.
  20. Made a trade for one of these because I don’t think it’s coming to TX. 7yr barrel proof wheated MGP, cannot wait. Also picked up a stack of ‘17 M10 rye on vacation because who passes on something like that?
  21. Those are both great, I’ll trade you one of my 17 BiB for them.
  22. Scares you to death I tell you.
  23. I wanted OWA to win because I’ve killed a few picks with friends as we all went on about how good it was. But yeah, Redemption beat OWA by a hair and RC6 brought up the rear with a weird young corn note. OWA and Blanton’s are probably my most frequently drained bottles because that’s what people want when they look at my shelf. The hype is real.
  24. Guess what won this blind with Redemption Wheated, NCF store pick OWA and Maker’s RC6?
  25. Overall Ranking: 1. 17 BiB 2. Decades 3. Cornerstone 4. Revival Value Rating: 1. Decades 2. 17 BiB 3. Revival 4. Cornerstone All worth picking up at retail in my opinion. Cornerstone is probably the most iffy of the bunch, but still significantly better than the new Rare Breed Rye. Revival is as good as some of the other finished bourbons that fly off the shelves and can routinely be found for $129.
