  1. It’s tough to beat for 12 year MGP chilling on the shelf. Although it’s gone within the day in Austin so that’s not even really accurate.
  2. You crack any of those bottles at Kalahari?
  3. Finally got the trade done and the Grandma’s Closet OWO is now the new king of my wheated hype shelf. Everything gets opened around here eventually but I might have to stare at this one for a bit.
  4. I don’t understand $300 ETL at all for drinking purposes. If you just need one for your tater shelf I guess I understand playing a FB for it, but otherwise it just makes no sense. It feels like people who would normally gamble for actual dollars in Vegas are now exclusively gambling on bourbon and it’s hell on the market.
  5. Marshmallow, not bonfire. But nowhere near as marshmallow as Rare Perfection 15.
  6. Nah, just poured it last week for people who’d never had it. But when that bottle is gone I’m buying something else instead.
  7. Interesting. After a year with an open Balmorhea I might rather have 0 bottles and $160.
  8. Can’t say that I’ve ever seen it behind a bar. It’s only $200 secondary and should easy to flip out of even if it’s open on the off chance you don’t like it.
  9. 2018/2019 JD Heritage Barrel is the best of the brand in my opinion. This year’s rye special edition is fine, but it doesn’t do anything better than MGP in the 8-10 year range other than be really hot.
  10. I’m not sure if “identifying values in European whiskey auctions” counts as a legitimate hobby to take up during Covid, but I have to admit I’m crushing it.
  11. A successful week of trading and waiting for auction buys to roll in. I already know that ‘18 GTS and ‘17 THH go hard, but I’m pumped for this barrel pick Bernheim.
  12. Exactly. That was secondary about a year and a half ago. Barrel Strength is better than M10 rye so even at $160 you’re winning.
  13. Is this where I offer to send a shipping tag and you see a nice little bump in your Venmo?
  14. Hard to get too excited about more NAS Barton product no matter what proof.
  15. Had some samples then traded my batch 2 for an EHTBP, no ragrets.
  16. It’s good, but I prefer II. Haven’t tried I or IV and would guess that the Rebecca Creek 12 would beat out the III blind.
  17. Stagg Jr with the win on that one. It got killed by EHTBP #9 and ‘18 GTS and then I shelved it. But in this one it really couldn’t be touched with that cherry note that I love. The Woodford is great, more caramel and oak with less peanuty finish than the ECBP. Woodford has been on a roll with this batch proof and the Very Rare Fine Bourbon.
  18. October ‘19 before the world ended. If Americans ruined it since just go to the next small town in BCS and try that. They’ll run out eventually, but not yet.
  19. I’d hit up Hotel San Cristobal in Todos Santos. Nice Jeep drive up from Cabo, sit by the pool and drink Mezcal cocktails or Tecate or whatever. Gaze upon the talent and wait for the panga fisherman to bring in something that can be Ceviche’d immediately. Sleep in and repeat, maybe hit up Jazamango for a meal that slams for, like, $40 USD. Don’t forget to soak up some local $.80 tacos and see if there’s any live music in the town square. Last time we went there was a great band playing off the alternator of a mid ‘90s suburban. Not a single federale to be seen and very few fat Americans clogging up the beach.
  20. New Woodford Batch Proof 128.3 vs Stagg Jr Batch 9 and ECBP B518 to round out a weekend of way too much yard work recovering from the winter kill.
  21. Jefferson’s never fails to deliver the disappointment, especially when it come to the enjoyment/dollar ratio.
  22. Support the local guys, it’s worth $92 anyway.
  23. Store picks are double barreled MGP distillate where 4-5 years is the first barreling from Indiana and the second barreling is done in TX for about a year. Not exactly Texas bourbon but it would explain why it’s good.
  24. Correct, that’s the good shit.
