  1. This totally clears the President and is a giant win for the GOP. I'm not concerned that we have no idea what is in the report. Everything is clear if you just put all the pieces together. This means that a campaign manager providing detailed polling data to a russian is totally legal, appropriate, and definitely not "collusion." I know in my bones that this is a win for America. This means that a candidate publicly asking russia to hack his opponent is totally legal and definitely not collusion. My gramps would be fuckin proud if he was still with us. This means that meeting with russians at trump tower to exchange dirt on opponent for sanction relief is totally legal and definitely not collusion. Alexander Hamilton and George Washington could only dream of this moment. This means that firing the investigator that is investigating russia and then telling russians it "eased pressure" without that "nut job" is totally legal and definitely not collusion. God bless the USA. For folks that might be confused by Trump's and everyone else's constant lies about all things Russia and the GOP and Trump's constant attacks on the DOJ and Mueller just don't know how to mensa or understand 2D checkers.
  2. I agree with all this. I would add that Israel has been our ally for a long time and that we should expect a dem nominee and future president to work with Israel to shift their policies and hopefully place the US back into the peace process as a near-neutral arbiter. Part of that will likely require walking back many of Trump’s actions
  3. We are talking about the fair treatment of candidates. I’m talking broader than you and that’s ok. I understand you are still upset and feel the DNC rigged it for Hillary. That conspiracy I understand was limited to the passing of debate questions.
  4. My definition of collusion is based on feelings. I don’t feel like passing detailed polling data to Russians is collusion. I don’t feel like publicly asking russia to hack my opponents emails is collusion. I don’t feel like meeting with Russians at trump tower to get dirt on my opponent is collusion. I don’t feel like firing the investigator investigating russia because of the “russia thing” is collusion. Feels are greater than reals when it comes to collusion.
  5. Is anyone not aware of the decade plus campaign by Fox News, right-wing talking heads, and right-wing politicians to paint Hillary as corrupt and dishonest? Fox News + whitewater + Benghazi+ HeR eMaIls + 2015/16 social media manipulation + uranium one + Clinton foundation were all hammered into half of the US population.
  6. He might be trying to drive a wedge further between the GOP and the never-trumpers. He might be trying to hijack the new cycle a bit. He might be acting without reason and solely on scattered emotions
  7. I apologize. I don’t understand what you are trying to say. Are you trying to say that we should ban knives? That would be dumb. How would the vegetables be cut?
  8. Knives do considerably less damage to the human body when compared to guns. Knives are also used to cut vegetables. This isn’t hard
  9. I think a person’s wealth and how acquired is part of their story. Their story should be just like any other factor. Does the person’s story make them more electable, able to defeat trump and mobilize votes? It’s a factor just like their oratory ability, charisma, honesty, etc. A person’s wealth, color isn’t a prerequisite though as some seem to feel. It shouldn’t disqualify them from being able to implement Dem policies once in office. We are searching for a candidate to represent the values, policies, and direction of the Dem party.
  10. Your entire spiel of why Beto can’t affect change is that he is white and has money. That’s it. His identity prevents him from the possibility of affecting change in your eyes. His identity makes all his actions, the actions of a privledged white guy. Question his record, experience, policies, intelligence, or methods but identity politics is lame
  11. “We’re all Americans” has been every recent president’s line including the Bushs and Reagan. Trump is the odd man out on this line.
  12. Beto isn’t going to affect change while in office because he’s a white guy. Makes sense
  13. The football player kneeling fiasco was identity politics. At first glance, you either identify with trump and “true patriots” who actually love our country or you identify with a person protesting injustices within our criminal justice system. This wedge issue is identity politics. You can transcend identity politics by identifying “both sides” as citizens of the US.
  14. Identity politics is trump, white nationalism, and maga. Identity politics is the backbone of the hate, fear, and demagogy within trump’s influence. Identity politics is divisive. Bernie bros are divisive. Bernie bros like identity politics.
  15. Sex, age, and gender are only factors that weigh into a candidates overall strength. The bottom line at the end of the day is that we should nominate and get behind the strongest candidate just like we are Joe Biden and she’s a middle school girl. Identity politics is devisive.
  16. I don’t ever remember our relationships with foreign allies being as strained, this kind of alignment with hostile foreign countries, having an authoritative leader, or this level of strain on the constitution, rule of law, and democratic bedrocks such as free press or election integrity.
  17. I have the opposite take but I think it depends on what you think it would take to “get rid of the current infection.” Campaign finance reform, election reform, anti-corruption reform, etc. would depend on the overall make up of Congress and is firmly on the democratic ticket no matter who the party nominated imo. If the infection is related to civil discourse and respect for common decency and fellow citizens, then Beto is the best suited to address imo.
  18. I never said it swung a bunch of republicans. Strawmen are a sign of a weak position
  19. Dems should offer an alternative to hate, division, and demagogy. We need a candidate that can transcend that. See Beto’s take on kneeling football players. The platform for Dems seems easy: respect for all citizens and different viewpoints, realign ourselves with our allies, the rule of law, anti-corruption, campaign finance reform, and evidence-based policy making. We just need an affective candidate that can sell that. The progressives policies will come.
  20. You seem to be shitting on everyone. Hillary, DNC, Hugo, some guy on twitter. You are perpetuating the Bernie bro thing from last election. The most important thing is that we have a strong candidate so that we don’t have Trump for a second term
  21. Lawfare podcast on nationalism below. Nationalism to a degree adds value to a society, promotes civics and community engagement, but can lead to massive problems that everyone should already be aware of. https://www.lawfareblog.com/lawfare-podcast-john-judis-nationalist-revival
  22. Herman as the bald guy in a wheelchair
  23. Taking a safety is the smart play in limited instances. Up by 6 points with 30 seconds left and backed up on own goal line. Rather than punt and risk a block/fumble and potential touchdown for the opposing team OR making the punt and giving the opponent the ball on your 40 yard line, you instead give them 2 points and then pin them back at their own 25. Either way the opposing team needs a touchdown. It’s about giving them the worst possible field position.
  24. It’s like people here don’t know how to Mensa
  25. It could be both depending on whether you believe playcalling was what held the offense back or whether there were other factors.
