lol Lincoln Riley. We don't know if he can even coach in college yet. One year riding Stoops coattails with a Heisman QB is not enough evidence.
LOL. OU's offensive efficiency ranking per FPI this decade:
2010 - 17
2011 - 19
2012 - 9
2013 - 22
2014 - 11
HIRES LINCOLN RILEY
2015 - 12, while dramatically improving through the year (last 6 reg season games were all 50+ ppg, except 44 on road @ #6 Baylor, and 30 against ranked TCU, where Baker left in first half due to injury and OU had 23 at half). Had 17 vs Clemson at half in playoffs, but shut out in second half, losing Mayfield, Perine, and Mixon to injury.
2016 - 1
2017 - 1
2018 - 2 (damn you Tua)I mean, come on man. He's 18-3 and pretty clearly the best offensive mind in the game. The 3 losses OU scored 31, 48, and 45 FFS.

Which would explain why he looked average at best when he played against a defense that’s not a sieve
This level of hate and idiocy is aggyesque. Kyler vs Texas was 19/26 for 304y, 4TD, 1INT, and 11 car for 92 and a TD. 396 yards and 5 TDs is "average at best"? GTFO. And yes he TOOK THE LOSS PUSSY or whatever your score-related comment will be. Texas won the game, but Kyler wasn't "average at best" by a long shot.

Agreed, scoring points is what matters. Not how many yards you get.
Over time, yards generally correlate to points. If one team averages 6.0 ypp, and another team averages 3.5 ypp, the first team will average a much higher scoring rate, and thus projects to win more games.
-
If a team gets 600 yards but only scores 20 points, but the team they play against gets 400 yards and scores 23, does it matter who had more yards? Any ranking system that had Texas in the 40's after being 6-1 at that point in time, with a tough SOS in tow, immediately disqualifies itself.
I’m not sure if it is your reading comprehension or just your general ability to understand that is the problem here.
Determining who won a football game looks at the score of that game. Determining who is more likely to win a future football game looks at how good the teams actually are, which is reliant on more than just the scores of the games.
The Giants beat the Patriots in the 2007 Super Bowl. Yet if they had played again the next week, the Pats would have been double digit favorites. Figure out why and maybe you will get it.-

What on earth was a kid from Monroe, Louisiana who goes to school in Fort Worth doing assaulting people in New Mexico?
Arrest was in Las Cruces. Vacation maybe? It was March 15th.

apparently he has a bench warrant active in New Mexico for a March arrest for battery of a household member, criminal damage to the property of a household member under $1000 (hmmm maybe a phone??) and interference with communications. Somebody has some major anger issues.

I'd be interested to see a "before" and "after" price comparison on HEB bottled water. Maybe they'll surprise.
No reason they shouldn't increase price on increased demand. There isn't a shortage, so it isn't gouging IMO. Water is plentifully available, and no reason why someone shouldn't pay more if they aren't willing to spend 3 minutes to boil the water, JFC.

Jesus. There is a slight chance they miss bowl season at this point. They need three wins out of:
@Kansas
Kansas St.
@West Virginia
@Baylor
Oklahoma St.That's a lot of one score type of games to be counting on. I mean we play one score games and it's nerve-wracking, but without Turpin this could get hairy for the frogs.
Bad time for them to be going to Lawrence. That could be a true rock (chalk Jayhawk) bottom scenario waiting to happen.

Charlie's undefeated with the most underwhelming 7-0 record I've seen in a long time.
Yeah, single score wins over Illinois, E. Carolina, Tulsa, and UConn is pretty awful. They probably have 4 losses coming up though.

Very interesting read, thanks for sharing.

So you're saying it didn't turn out to be a different Chijioke Onyenegecha?
No, if you buy the #fakenews.

Yeah I realize that. Just like people can't seem to not drink and drive, I was curious if legalized states have a problem with smoking and driving. I suppose people were smoking (or doing numerous other drugs) before legalization, but all DUI/DWI information seems to be centered around alcohol.
Yeah, after re-reading, my post's tone didn't come out right. I just meant that drug DWI enforcement isn't unique to states with legal pot.

Do they only use field sobriety tests for impairment or do they have some pot version of the breathalyzer?
It's going to vary, but pot DWI is illegal in Texas also.

General question, in legalized states, how do they account for pot DWIs? I am assuming it's still illegal to drive under the influence?
Just the same way it is legal to consume alcohol in Texas, but illegal to drive while intoxicated on it.

One of the hardest times I have laughed is when OU DB Chijioke Onyenegecha was arrested, and someone replied with this.

I understand why the rankings might not love Texas. I also understand how they’re predictive and why OU is ahead of them.
But to anyone who has seen OSU play and seen Texas play this year...I really think the inputs need some tweaking given that they come up with that result. We might lose, sure. But they’ve clearly looked like the inferior team to anyone with eyes.
While I agree that it feels wrong to have OSU nearly a 2-1 favorite, I think that there are a few factors that make S&P less predictive here. For one, Texas seems to be playing better as the season moves on, while OSU seems to be playing worse, and fans naturally bake that in to their evaluations. If last week, Texas lost to Maryland while OSU boatraced Boise, Texas fans would be very pessimistic about this game. I don't know that S&P factors in recency.
Also, I don't think that S&P factors in that Iowa State's top QB and their awesome RB were both out for the game against OSU, yet ISU scored 48. Fans know this and that game looks worse to them then it would to a computer.
Those factors show why the Texas-OSU line differs pretty wildly from S&P. Based only on S&P you would expect OSU to be favored by 5-6, yet Texas is favored, despite unclear health for Ehlinger.

Exactly. Just because you beat someone doesn't mean than you can beat them.
Just because you beat someone doesn’t mean you are or were more than 50% to beat them. The last big poker tourney I played, I was 97% to win a hand when the money went in. I lost. My hand will still be 97% to win in the poker S&P rankings. -

I'll admit, I chuckled a bit when I saw the ranking, but then I looked at what was ranked behind and realized none of those other teams probably deserved to be ranked ahead so it's probably about right. If you're gonna lose, lose early.
Also Texas has the wins. Are they the 6th best team in the country? Probably not. Do they have the 6th best resume right now? Can't really argue against it.
-
Uh, yeah, Notre Dame's game vs. BYE was pretty easy.
Also LOLOLOL at Alabama having a 70% chance at the playoffs. I will put up $300 to your $100, I win the $400 if Bama makes it, you win if they don't. Clemson is not 95% to win out, and if they don't win out, they are in huge trouble, so they aren't near 95%.
Your in order rankings are absolutely absurd and awful. NCSU has a literal 0% chance to make the playoff, and you have them ahead of LSU and UGA which both have a 100% to be in if they win out, and Texas, which is 90% in if they win out.

Georgia may sneak back into this as well, should they somehow beat Alabama (doubtful).
Surprised UCF didn't move up.
Sneak back in? UGA wins out, they are in, period. One loss SEC champion is 100% lock.

LSU is still below Georgia? Makes sense
why can people not grasp that it is not ranking the past results, but predicting future performance? LSU should be ranked ahead of UGA and Texas should be ranked ahead of OU. Nonetheless, if they were playing next week on a neutral field, UGA and OU would be the favorites.

Like I mentioned above, what happened to all that talk about conference championship mattering? B1 made a significant change by adding a ccg for this very reason. Was it all just bullshit.
They never said it was essential. They said it is a considered factor. The consensus best team in the country didn’t have it, but being consensus best let them slide in as the 4 seed. As was posted above, if tOSU had been 12-1 conference champion, Bama likely bites the dust. -
Good point and probably so. Clemson and ND are the teams we need to lose. If they lose and Texas wins out, we are going to the CFP.
100%. Should only need ND to lose since 12-1 TX or OU should absolutely go over 12-1 Clemson due to the dogshit ACC but I wouldn’t trust the committee to exclude a Clemson team that is 12-1 and been in 4 straight playoffs.
