Only reason I could see would be the $4200 in lift tickets.

    eesh

we buy the epic pass when they go on sale and take advantage of the kids ski free (if you book/stay at most of the properties at the base).  substantially less expensive that way.

Speaking of a young man’s game...

Ive said I was going to be in the first hundred up the mountain and last hundred off River Run, dozens and dozens of times. I recall 2 really good days where I actually did it.

I can get up early. I can eat sandwiches on the lift to save more time. I can ski until 8pm. I can drink. Trying to do any 3 of those for more than a day or 2 whips my ass.

yeah, we go fairly hard as a family for 5 or 6 days straight on the spring break trips. Never saw the point of skipping a day once you got to the mountain.  But it is getting easier and easier to increase the day (and let's be honest here, morning) drinking and decrease the time going down the mountain.  At Keystone i liked to reward myself with a nice bloody mary in the morning after reaching the outpost food place (not via the gondola).

@Hook1997 you don’t have to read the thread.  Plus, if you want to know why we have this thread, its sole purpose is to document the bazaar activities and stupid shit happening in college station. People wouldn’t believe it otherwise.

is this a typo or am i a moran and missed a new finominal shaggy/surly word change?

Is there a break between the normal day skiing and when the night skiing begins?

Or do they just shut down the rest of the mountain except for the runs that are available for night skiing and so you could ski from morning straight through?

It's on my EPIC pass, so I might. check it out.

They just shut the other portions of the mountain.  You can ski continuously on those lifts/runs

  5. Just back from Keystone over the kids' spring break.  Great snow all around for the entire week.  The spawn (8 and 10yo) are almost to the point of being faster down most trails than me.

with the time change, the 'night' skiing at Keystone was great.  The sun was not down 'til about 7pm and it was plenty bright to see where you were going regardless of the lighting.  The lifts were never crowded at all outside of a 10am-11am window at the base gondola.

Going out to dinner with 3 other couples tomorrow night. My wife and the other 3 were texting on where they wanted to go a few nights ago.

I've never wanted to shoot myself in the head after hearing my wife read back the discussion on where to go and why we can't go here or there.

So there was a 30 minute party (can't remember if it was xmas or halloween) at my son's school that several mom's were planning.  Wife was one of the moms on the email chain about what to do.  to her credit, she was the voice of reason, but one mom was planning out literally 3 hours of activities and crafts and games and wanted a chocolate fountain and lots of other nonsense for again, a 30 minute party.  This woman said that at her kids prior school, they did an 2.5 party and planned out all this stuff.  Not sure why she thought it would all work the same for a 30 party.  i'll go ahead and blame pinterest

  7. Spoiler

walking around blind would be an epic disaster and everyone would be cut up, bruised and beaten to hell.  no one had (or made) a stick like one of those red and white blind 'feeler' sticks (not sure what they are really called).  something to test the ground in front of you would seem to be priority number two after covering your eyes.  I get that navigating via fishing line is cleaner visually for the movie, but still, everyone in the movie would be under concussion protocol with in 2 minutes of stepping outside and trying to walk around with out a feeler stick.

Echolocation boy (had he lived) would have been king https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/blind-ben-underwood-update_us_570d729fe4b0ffa5937d6926 .  We needed to see a battle in the far future between the seeing but crazy vs the blind echolocation sane people.

I liked it OK.  about what I expected a Netflix movie would be.
