holy shit those dipshits are fucking stupid. i'm a former Cowboy and went through as a newman the year before Gabe died. I was not out there when it happened and never did any hazing at all. never tapped in any other class or any of the other nonsense. shit is hard enough as it is without all that crap. the previous posters that said that the frat boys that get off on hazing were the pussy betas are dead on target. just the lowest pieces of shit on campus.
I did my share of stupid shit on the 40 acres but it was mostly self inflicted and not lording fake power over others. anyway, if the Cowboys cannot run a squeaky clean org for the sake of firing the cannon on game days, then fuck them. let someone else do it.

that foul at the end of reg was turrible. glad the guy missed the first one so we got OT, but holy crap, if you watch the last 3 minutes of just about any close first weekend game and the refs were letting them play.

Let me pose a hypothetical type question.
Let's say you're a non-fraudulent company working on some invention machine. You've touted your work on it, but you haven't quite got it running.
Do you think that the non-investor, non-regulatory public has any right to know how well you are doing with your invention machine?
i was kinda tipsy watching the HBO piece and have not read the book, but they asked and received FDA approval for one of the tests run on the Edison, correct? That's not touting, that's not 'working on it' that's at the point where your shit better be airtight with a working product. It can be a later stage prototype, but once submitted for FDA approval, then you are locked in from making certain changes that are considered major and any other smaller changes have massive documentation requirements and sometimes retesting/recerting. Trying to make the machine work after submitting for FDA would be laughable if it was not fucking up people's health.
our company supplies components that go into implantable devices and although we don't deal directly with the FDA, the shit that runs downhill from our OEM can be staggering in terms of documentation and testing. Slight changes/improvements to existing products can take 2+ years to get through the FDA. complete new products are usually 5+ years. Even changes that do good stuff like improve battery life etc... sometimes don't even get slotted by the FDA to get looked at in the current cycle and implementing them are delayed. Theranos had to filling out bogus reports with bogus data if they got one of those machines approve for even 1 test.

Having been to about six of those with my daughter, I can assure you the booze was flowing heavily from the minute we got situated until late, late, late Saturday night. We didn't have anybody really policing this even at Sky Ranch, though you did have to keep it incognito as much as possible. My daughter is in 7th grade, though, and this stops in 2nd. Apparently, one of the years after us, an argument broke out between a couple of dads and a knife got pulled during the ensuing fight. That, plus another story of a drunken dad trying to hurdle a fire and falling backwards into it (plowed, of course) might mean the Y is policing this better than they used to. (My wife, who is 38, said it was good to hear not much had changed from the Y Princess camp outs she'd gone to with her dad 30 years prior.)
yeah, it's the same. It's all related to the dumbassery by a few dads that they have to be more strict. We had a huge group (that was loud and stayed up late) and they would come nosing around and look through any coolers that were out in the open. Talking with some other cabins, they did not get the sames searches. Through the Lakewood Elm. group going out to Camp Olympia, that camp DNGAF and you don't have to worry about it.
Point was that if freaking Sky Ranch was getting all uppity about enforcing the no booze policy and all they have are a few golf carts running around, it has got to be a hell of a waiver from RNWP to justify openly allowing booze in there.
Thanks for the ^^^ info replase!
-
Special Olympics to be held in Puerto Rico? Might turn out worse that Fyre Fest.
-
do they openly allow booze? or does the waiver say 'no booze' and they just don't look very hard or enforce it?
Not remotely the same, but sorta similar to the dad/spawn weekend camps for Adventure Guides/Indian Princesses. All the waivers you sign say no booze, but you don't have to be Columbo to figure out that every Yeti cup out there is filled to the brim with whiskey or beer. With the exception of Sky Ranch. Sky Ranch actively will search your cooler upon arrival and randomly through out the camp out. Still, it's not that hard to just keep your booze in the tent or cabin, but it's the inconvenience factor.

I hated the book. Why are so many people trying to make this work?
'cause we need another bookfag/illiterati scrum to waste our time with. you gotta problem with that?
did you stop at one book? and if you started with the actual Dark Tower title, then you did it wrong.

i am hoping by 2029 they will have my son submit a twitch feed of him playing fortnite and commenting on why he will lead the UT's defending international title team to victory again the next year after he is admitted. other than that, the world needs ditch diggers too.

Parking is serious business over there. Someone was murdered over a trivial parking issue some weeks ago in Uptown Dallas.
I am sure it has happened somewhere, but I have yet to see a story where the passenger of an uber/lift has shot at another car because of road rage. If someone else is driving, people generally don't GAF and busy playing on their phone.
For this dude to have this extreme level of "I am in the right and you are in the wrong about your use of a motor vehicle and I MUST now let you know about it" is just unexplainable. You want to yell at someone being a dumbass? Sure go right ahead. There are usually 2-3 times a day where this is justifiable while driving/parking. You want to get out of your car to threaten a lone female while brandishing a gun...that later escalates to punching her 5 times to make sure she got the message, you have something fucked up in your head and probably should not be allowed to walk around free in society.

You're welcome to
throw out all the impressive places you visited in your 25 yearsgo elsewhere for yoursports talkTex Mex in Dallas.i got nothing to add. I only go pick up food from Glorias, Mi Cocina, Meso Maya and occasionally Matts to challenge myself to see how quickly i can down a frozen marg (or three) before the food arrives. also, you could probably use those places to triangulate the location of our house.

I swore there was a thread for the DT on here, but maybe just on the scat board as I could not find it. I welcome any attempt at bringing these books the screen.
QuoteIt’s set in the past, showing Roland as a young man, learning the ways of the world and becoming a Gunslinger.
...
No word on when The Dark Tower will go into production or find its way onto your Amazon service, but with the leads cast, it’s all barrels firing from here.

Only reason I could see would be the $4200 in lift tickets.
eesh
we buy the epic pass when they go on sale and take advantage of the kids ski free (if you book/stay at most of the properties at the base). substantially less expensive that way.

Speaking of a young man’s game...
Ive said I was going to be in the first hundred up the mountain and last hundred off River Run, dozens and dozens of times. I recall 2 really good days where I actually did it.
I can get up early. I can eat sandwiches on the lift to save more time. I can ski until 8pm. I can drink. Trying to do any 3 of those for more than a day or 2 whips my ass.yeah, we go fairly hard as a family for 5 or 6 days straight on the spring break trips. Never saw the point of skipping a day once you got to the mountain. But it is getting easier and easier to increase the day (and let's be honest here, morning) drinking and decrease the time going down the mountain. At Keystone i liked to reward myself with a nice bloody mary in the morning after reaching the outpost food place (not via the gondola).

@Hook1997 you don’t have to read the thread. Plus, if you want to know why we have this thread, its sole purpose is to document the bazaar activities and stupid shit happening in college station. People wouldn’t believe it otherwise.
is this a typo or am i a moran and missed a new finominal shaggy/surly word change?

Is there a break between the normal day skiing and when the night skiing begins?
Or do they just shut down the rest of the mountain except for the runs that are available for night skiing and so you could ski from morning straight through?
It's on my EPIC pass, so I might. check it out.
They just shut the other portions of the mountain. You can ski continuously on those lifts/runs

Just back from Keystone over the kids' spring break. Great snow all around for the entire week. The spawn (8 and 10yo) are almost to the point of being faster down most trails than me.
with the time change, the 'night' skiing at Keystone was great. The sun was not down 'til about 7pm and it was plenty bright to see where you were going regardless of the lighting. The lifts were never crowded at all outside of a 10am-11am window at the base gondola.

The Struggle is Real

so you do the math and they are driving over 2000 miles a month (@$3/gallon for gas) between them. my wife and i drove ~260K miles in 10 years between us (200K for me and 60K for the rib) in sprawling Dallas. That's about 2160 miles a month for those scoring at home. Never lived in NYC, but 2K a month seems high.
anyway not posting to bash on the couple in the story. Fuck it, they can live how they want to. I don't see anything too egregious in their budget. Some secondary investing outside their 401K should be in there but if they put the remainder in savings, they are essentially socking away almost 10% of their income between 401K and leftover form budget. like Anthony Kiedis, they don't want to be a miser and that's OK
