so is the Starwood amex now shittier? Got some email saying the points were getting multiplied x3 and there are now different point payout categories. x2 for and x4 for that.

I wonder if keeping a copy of Financial Times at the ready would help in these situations?
Again, the squeamish Smith college employee called the cops because they did not want to interact with a black person who may or may not be out of place. If it was deemed important to find out, a 15 second conversation could have taken place and solved the issue. I'm guessing because the employee did not want to 'be that guy/gal' and look all racist asking a black person if they belonged there so they called the police to do something they were too chickenshit to do.

the way the council (minus the 2 dissenters) glossed over the yearly maintenance bill for the arches is astounding. $400,000 a year to maintain.
Jordan was an environmental engineer and not capable of making these calls for using cheaper material and changing the connections from welds to bolts. I wonder who gave her the assurance that it would probably be fine to cut these corners and then have the balls to say it could be done without stress testing?

do some people really just consider the police dept their personal butlers/fixers/ask jeeves?
QuotePeterson ordered a Spicy Italian Sub at a Subway store in Jacksonville, Fla., last week. He ordered it with “the works.” To his mind, it didn’t come with the works. “He tasted his sandwich, and it didn’t have mayonnaise or mustard on it, so he became upset,” said Tammy Morris, a manager at the store. Witnesses inside the store said Peterson started screaming. Then he went outside to call 911, asking for help in having his sandwich made to his satisfaction. A short time later, he called again to complain that police still hadn’t shown up. So they did, and they arrested Peterson on charges of making false 911 calls.
“It’s unbelievable what people get upset about now days,” Morris said.
Or like Kevin Waits. Waits called a cab to his home in Waco, Texas. When it didn’t show up, he called 911. The dispatcher told him to call a taxi service. Waco police Officer Steve Anderson said Waits grew more and more frustrated as he couldn’t get a cab. So he called 911 again. And again. Eventually, he called 15 times. When police finally went to his apartment, they found a cab waiting for Waits — who didn’t have the $26 fare. Waits was charged with harassment and theft of service.
Or like the unidentified 19-year-old man who called 911 in Knoxville because his stepfather wouldn’t stop nagging him to do the laundry or wash the dishes.
The racist examples in this thread are a lot of white people not wanting to interact with a person of color to hash out mostly simple things so they call the police to do their bidding for them. Need to institute a type of Thunderdome 911 call policy. 2 parties in a dispute --> 911 called --> 1 party is always going to jail with automatic ride down town if complaint is deemed false/frivolous.
There needs to be more education about using the Nextdoor ap. This way people can still go be all racist and still not mind their own bidness, but not tie up police resources.

the Dark Tower (series) was really great as an audio book. I think the last one was done by a different reader, though.
Same guy did Talisman and Dark House and i am sure a lot of other King books

yeah, the murderer should have pulled out his phone and taken a pic to post on the d-bag parking thread. He gets to feel superior, little boy still has a father. everyone wins. I hope he goes trial for something and loses.

it was an awesome time for compressor to go out last Thursday. new one getting installed tomorrow but probably won't even need it with the 'cold' front blowing in and all.

so it's not just cops that kill people if they fear for their life? I thought john q. public was not afforded that 'right'. straight up murder.

- complains about the clutter in the garage.
- says she wants to have a garage sale.
- brings home more random stuff that her grandmother was going to throw away.
- puts it in the garage.
- complains about having to sort/price stuff for her garage sale (which likely wont happen for another 6mos).
- complains about the clutter in the garage.
We just had the Salvation Army out to take as much crap from the garage as possible. Wife went to all the trouble of sorting things and putting price tags on things and even got a permit for a garage sale. It rained that weekend and we never got motivated to attempt it again.

This is a scam. The handwriting does not match, unless someone else at the table wrote the note on top. It does not match the writing at the bottom. I am a trained hand-writing expert from another job, and this is not real
The comments are pure gold.

Growing up there we would have to drive across town to get beer because and some random blue law zoning restriction and they successfully banned MTV from our cable.

it's fun to check the Whataburger thread and see how that's evolving.
whataburger --> slorched/abortion talk --> child abduction/fix Mexico --> far left, no center-far left talk --> to genocide.
whataburger may want to distance from this

yeah, i would totally accept an easter egg, no questions asked, from that guy.
unfortunately it's probably going to take some sort of altercation with a neighbor/passerby before any significant can come from the police showing up.

what does that guy have against the mail?

Not a bore at all. This stuff is frustrating and interesting and love to hear your perspective. There are so many takes and so many questions. My favorite is the role that South Dallas black city council members play in all this, often voting against their constituents' interests.
fify
Their own interests are well taken care of.

VY was on w/ Ben and skin yesterday. pretty good interview. They asked him a hypothetical; VY and an aggy and a sooner were thrown out of a boat and he could only save one. VY said aggy because "ou sucks". yes they do Vince, yes they do.
Running thread of white people calling cops on people of color for everyday stuff...

agree. either they personally could not fathom why she would be there and felt the need to escalate the situation or someone went to them and demanded they find out why a black person was in the cafeteria. Then instead of being overtly racist themselves, they called the police.
