Do we have any geologists around here that can discuss how deep (on average) he will need to go & then the soil / dirt / whatever changes to something softer or possibly even more difficult than what is currently being encountered?

Use these online tools to find the nearest well and check out their report:

Here's a sample near San Angelo (I think that's where @CleverNickname is digging).  Anyway, page 2 details the soil & depths they encountered during the drill:

My detail service closed up shop (owner moved out of the area) anyone have a good recommendation on a mobile detail guy in North Austin?

2 inter-related items that don't actually answer your question, but may work:

    1. Redbox Restoration, in Leander, is fantastic (but not mobile) (https://redbox-restoration.com/)

    2. Sunrae Transport, in Round Rock, is a high-end auto transporter (with enclosed trailer) that is also fantastic. (https://sunraetransport.com/)

What is the mpg before I screwed it up?  I just got about 15 something hanging mainly in the 80’s from Austin to Houston.

~80 on the interstate would be high 20's.  65 on the highways would break 30mpg.

Don’t think I posted the actual truck when it got here but, somewhat surprisingly, I love this thing.  I’ve actually jumped in it on nice days I normally would have taken a “fun car”.  All the little features (cameras everywhere, tailgate, supercruise is great and still works, smart enough to automatically heat seats/stearing wheel, etc) make it super convenient.  I’m sure the lift screwed up the ride but it still rides great.
I wasn’t blown away with the stereo so ripped the stock stereo out, threw in some speakers, couple of 12’s and couple of amps (yes, I am a child) and that fixed it…side note, Custom Sounds on south Lamar sucks imo so had to have someone else fix it.
Still second guessing if I should have done the 6.2 and supercharged it instead of the baby diesel but really like the diesel.  kinda thought no matter how much HP it has, it’s still gonna be slow.
Enough rambling, just want to pass on if you want a 1/2 ton, the Denali is awesome and the Ultimate’s interior is pretty much in Escalade territory.

Gorgeous truck!  We've had the 'baby-max' 1500 High Country for about 15,000 miles now, and still love it.  MPG (at least, without a lift ;) ) is amazing, and towing power is ridiculous.

In the next 5-7 years I'm looking to do something similar in concept, but as a permanent residence. I already have the land, and paid for, so that's one less thing.

I've considered the split option like you mentioned, main place with a guest cabin. With building and material prices the way they are right now, I've been planning on going a similar route as Clever's, and doing a barndo/shouse/whatever you want to call it. A metal building house. Not sure if it will be cheaper to go single story or have a second level, but I have a few different layouts that can fit in either way.

Instead of a fully separate guest cabin, I'm going to put it all under one roof. Main living space on one end, garage and pool/atrium room (like 12x24, fiberglass) in the middle, with a small guest suite (bed, bath, living room with a little kitchenette) on the other end. Depth of the building will be 50ft or 60ft, and width will depend on whether or not there's a second floor. Doesn't matter to me, single floor and longer is probably cheaper and fine with me. Easier later in life anyway.

Anyway, here for the ride and to learn/share anything I can.

thunder, I don't know you from adam/eve, but I am in a similar situation, and brewed up a comparable idea on the isolated-but-still-one-structure guest house.  We're probably 3-4 years out.  Single story, barndominum, main living on one end, big garage/workspace in the middle, and guest quarters on the opposite side of the garage.

Been using an app (Keyplan 3D) to draw up ideas as they come to me.

  6. Sark has made a name for himself as a fantastic playcaller, and for his game-starting "script"/"flowchart"/whatever.  And regardless of whether we all agree he deserves that acclaim, the fact is: it got us to the CFP.  So, I'm not sure expecting him to deviate from that is realistic, or a good idea.

That being said, serious question...how would we even know if he did deviate from the script?

[edit] Also, "fuck yeah, Steve!!!!"  Great season, way exceeding expectations!!
