  1. This is pretty scary. Feels like a test run. Here's a link to the actual memorandum if anyone wants to see it: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/06/department-of-defense-security-for-the-protection-of-department-of-homeland-security-functions/ 2 things scare me: 1. "To the extent that protests or acts of violence directly inhibit the execution of the laws, they constitute a form of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States." - Hmmm...which laws? Any laws? What about a large, but completely peaceful protest that blocks a street? Could that be considered inhibiting the execution of laws? 2. "In addition, the Secretary of Defense may employ any other members of the regular Armed Forces as necessary to augment and support the protection of Federal functions and property in any number determined appropriate in his discretion." - So this also gives SecDef the authority to deploy regular troops, should he feel it necessary. Also, this statement does not seem to limit it to this location/protest. [edit] Just re-reading this really makes it sink in for me. First, the press has been labeled as completely untrustworthy. Now, protests are being equated to rebellion. When do we wake up?
  2. As a Red Bull fan, and a Max fan, this is a tough spot. The planned 3-stop strategy looked fantastic until that last safety car. Having to put the hards on (as the only real option) was a disaster. I did think it was bullshit that Charles came over on him on the straight, and that has been completely glossed over in the aftermath (I did see the official investigation say they both moved towards each other, but it certainly did not look like that live). I was not sure why the team told Max to give the place back. I can imagine all of these added to Max's frustration. All that being said...intentionally driving into another car should be a pretty significant penalty. if you really want to discourage it, it should be a giant pile of points on the driver's license, or a mandatory ban for the next race. Part of the reason that Max is so good, is that he is always pushing things to the limit. This was far, far over the limit though.
  3. This is the key to it all, for sure. It's often easy to forget that every response is derived from a formula that tells ChatGPT what the next word should be. The responses it provides are not necessarily 'friendly', or 'factual', or 'right or wrong'...they are the result of complex mathematical functions.
  4. please please please let this be true
  5. I think it is a combination of the car and the team strategy. They've built a car that requires a very good driver. But at the same time, they want the second driver to be a clear #2, so a very good driver maybe won't take that seat (or, more likely, Red Bull isn't interested in any proven drivers for that seat).
  6. Yeah, it was on the secret menu. They no longer offer it in any fashion They removed sausage from the menu completely, and even the 'regular menu' taco that had sausage (republican maybe?) has been changed to some other protein now.
  7. Agreed. This is an ongoing tragedy...
  8. QE finally goes! Miami bound...
  9. Mellot? wtf is this guy...
  10. Collins!
  11. Growing up, I was clueless about our finances...lots of these in this thread hit home... potted meat sandwiches hot dogs wrapped in a piece of bread or a tortilla tortilla w/butter for a snack (maybe some sugar or cinnamon if no one was looking) mom-made shirts from patterns toast w/ cream gravy ("shit-on-a-shingle") for dinner
  12. Binge watched it yesterday...then it rolled over to season 1 episode 1. I don't want to admit how much time we wasted watching season 1 too. Lol...can't wait for real racing next week!
  13. Great googly moogly....
  14. Where's the letterkenny coach gif. This is fucking embarassing...
  15. Grrr...i so want to click on those spoilers... Appreciate the effort you made hiding them though, as I've been able to resist so far!
  16. @BoomMF those are some cool looking games for sure. For us, bad news and bad (to me) news. First, life has really gotten in the way of finishing the table. We did get the neoprene in, and it is fantastic to play on. No progress on the rails. The other 'bad' news is that my son has gotten obsessed with Warhammer 40k over the last couple of months, so the table - and our gaming time - has been taken over with that. Oathsworn is has literally been shoved aside. To add insult to injury, today, my son decided that we would use some of the Oathsworn terrain for our Warhammer battle... He did agree that we need to at least alternate our play time going forward - we last finished chapter 4 of Oathsworn... edit: just to add, I don't *hate* Warhammer...just would prefer to keep progressing with Oathsworn...but it's my son's senior year of HS, so I'll happily let him pick if it means we keep playing..
  17. Spa is at the top of my list to see a race, I think. This guarantees that my time, opportunity, & money graphs will meet perfectly, in '28 or '30. Fuckers.
  18. This is where I am. Last year, red zone was a clear issue - we've improved. This year, 3rd quarters are killing us. I don't know if it is how we respond to having the lead, or if it is some halftime adjustment the other teams are making that we can't account for. According to teamrankings.com. we are: 9th in 1st quarter scoring. 9th in 2nd quarter scoring. 65th in 3rd quarter scoring. 61st in 4th quarter scoring. link: https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/stat/1st-quarter-points-per-game Let's see if Sark can figure this one out in the offseason...
  19. And will still be outscored by his teammate
