  1. I was about an hour ago. I live in Austin but drove up to scoop this bottle in particular.
  2. Ran up to the Distillery to pick one of these guys up.
  3. Discovery 3 is fantastic. I liked it so much that I bought a bunker bottle. Raj loaded up on it and is selling it for $125. That’s a tough price point in many cases, but I had no problem paying it in this case.
  4. It’s best days are behind us.
  5. Nice haul. You should have picked up some drywall spackle while you were out and about.
  6. I’ve heard they are very similar, but they are not identical. Cousins, perhaps.
  7. If people are still operating under the assumption that Raj’s shop is somehow under the radar, then they are sorely out of touch. That guy is cleaning up, and has more people to take care of than he has allocated bottles. He’s awesome though. His Russell’s Reserve store pick was a definite winner. I think he still has plenty left but I haven’t been in this week yet. Last week he got another EC barrel pick in. I haven’t heard anything about it yet, but they are almost always solid. He also got a Balcones Single Malt that was one of the better bottles I’ve tasted from them.
  8. I think it was intentionally written to obfuscate the precise components of the blended whiskey, but I disagree that the intent was to mislead. By saying it includes liquid from 17 year old barrels, it also implies that it includes other liquid. Transparency regarding the makeup of blended bourbons is still relatively new, and inconsistent across the industry. I'm not going to crucify Woodford for not spelling out the specific components of the juice, even though I am super curious to understand that better. I'd imagine this sort of thing will continue to evolve over time, as newer players like Bardstown are raising the bar by being very specific about the components they blended together.
  9. Eh, I don’t see it that way, but I guess others may feel differently. Previous Master’s Collection bottles included the series number, albeit slightly smaller: It doesn’t feel like a radical change to me, but to each their own.
  10. What part is misleading? Putting the number 16 on the bottle?
  11. It’s 16th in the series, but the whiskey is blended from multiple barrels and includes juice as old as 17 years.
  12. I got one today. Loving the new bottle shape.
  13. Weird. It's almost like all the rumors and speculation are good for their business. Which is not to say that it's happening. We should just be honest about their motivation in these situations.
  14. Don’t get me wrong, I have my favorites. I’d probably be fine sipping Bardstown Discovery series 2 or 3 every night if I could afford it. The Magnus Cigar Blend is way up there too.
  15. I don’t believe in having a daily drinker. I mean, I get the concept but I personally reject it. I have ~60 open bottles ranging from $25 up to $200 and I am constantly switching it up. I greatly prefer variety and basically never drink the same bottle more than once in a week.
  16. I have a bottle of Single Barrel Rye that is outstanding. That’s my recommendation.
  17. I saw the 1792 12 year marked up to $80 this weekend. Nothing I read online suggested it was worth it, so I passed. Curious to hear your thoughts on it.
  18. I pulled that 4R out for the first time in a couple of months tonight. Ain’t nothing wrong with it at all. Very drinkable dram.
  19. Is anyone checking flightaware for signs that the Kraken will be released soon?
  20. Today’s score.
  21. I saw 5 bottles of that Michter’s at Specs in South Austin today. Don’t know anything about it though. I also saw 2 bottles of EC18 today, and they were asking $400 each for them. Utterly ridiculous. I’ve been underwhelmed with the one bottle I have had this year, and wouldn’t buy another at MSRP.
  22. Strong. Great score at that price. Hat tip.
  23. What’d that set you back if you don’t mind sharing?
