  1. There is definitely a thrill that comes with hunting for the stuff you see people flexing over online. But for anyone newer to the world of bourbon, I would focus primarily on dialing in your palate with things that are readily available at MSRP. Whether it’s stuff like Rare Breed, Elijah Craig, OF Whiskey Row, 1792, or MGP stuff like Redemption, you can learn a lot about what’s good to you. I think that a lot of guys out there showing off tend to not even fully understand or appreciate the product inside the bottle as much as they enjoy the attention that comes from the bottle itself. And if you do stumble on a unicorn, blind taste it against the rest of your stuff first. See if you can really identify the special bottle next to the stuff so many people overlook. I find that it can really help keep me honest about what I think about a new bottle vs any bias that might exist because of the hype associated with allocated product.
  2. The Dodgers have turned a couple of fortuitous DP’s recently.
  3. Mookie for president!!!
  4. I’d love Keibert to take Barnes’ roster spot in the next year or two, max. Would be a ridiculous platoon to have at Catcher.
  5. ER to Blanton’s is a very normal progression as you get started. Keep trying as many different types as possible. As you do so, come back to where you started and calibrate what you like best as you are exposed to more variety. I have ER and Blanton’s in my bar, but I rarely reach for them. They are fine, but very straight forward expressions. I prefer others that have more complexity/layered flavors or bourbons that are more unique due to the aging or finishing process. I’d point you towards Old Forrester (1910, then 1920) and Four Roses (small batch or single barrel) as a next step.
  6. At this point you have to wonder if Lamps is capable of fixing it. I certainly have my doubts.
  7. This thread title is aging like a fine wine.
  8. Vintage Chelsea D there. We should charge Zouma for a ticket if he’s just going to stand there and watch the buildup.
  9. Sarcasm? Timo’s composure is a sight for sore eyes. Assassin.
  10. Well if you’re looking to rehome that bottle, I’m happy to be of assistance. [emoji6]
  11. Do you like any of their other stuff? I tried some of the first batch last night and really liked it. It’s unmistakably a GB whiskey, but I’ve really come around on their flavor profile.
  12. EHT was my number one, and was in nearly everyone's top 3. I don't think my post was clear. My personal order of preference went EHTBP, Smoke Wagon, Barrell, WFP, Owl, and Remus.
  13. Speaking of Smoke Wagon, we blind tasted these 6 bottles last night: Remus Volstead 14 Barrell Bourbon 15 Smoke Wagon Private Barrel (Spec's) Weller Full Proof Kentucky Owl Wise Man EHT Barrel Proof I ranked them 6, 3, 2, 4, 5, 1. The Smoke Wagon was in everyone's top 2-3, which is saying something given what we had on the table. It's something I will always try to have in my collection at this point.
  14. So bill, what was your verdict on the SH14? I know you were a bit dubious that it would be worth picking up. I take it you’re a fan?
  15. I’ll come take those off your hands for you. I’ll even pitch in a couple bottles of 101 while I’m at it.
  16. Did anyone score one the OF barrel strength store picks yet? Deb’s released theirs as part of another bundle last weekend, but I didn’t take the bait as there are some red flags on that one for me.
  17. Yeah, seems right. Lets face it, any 2019 BTAC left is in the hands of a flipper or a price gouging retailer. No harm to be done talking up Rare Breed at the expense of a highly sought after product that is effectively non-existent.
  18. Guilty as charged
  19. Took down one of my personal white whales today.
  20. Post game consolation prize.
  21. I’m not buying the Urban rumor until I hear it from LotusHorn.
  22. Definitely this. I picked up the Cask Strength version and was utterly confused by my first pour. The second pour when much better, as I knew what to expect. It’s difficult to think of this one as a Rye but it’s pretty good at the same time.
  23. My bad, my bad. I have not bought a bottle in a hot minute so I had my facts wrong.
  24. Why do people still refer to it as Eagle Rare 10 when the age statement was dropped years ago. Aren’t all indications that it’s younger than 10 years now?
