  1. Oh, for sure. Painter, his staff, and program consistency certainly plays an outsized role in Purdue's success. However, much like any causal relationship/system, there tend to many variables of material influence. My original rebuttal only meant to challenge the incorrect notion that Indiana doesn’t serve as a sufficient college basketball recruiting base. That state churns out plenty of quality DI basketball players. In any event, a weaponized IU Basketball program can tap into that pool, as well as recruit nationally. If someone like Beard gets hired there, they’ll be very good very quickly.
  2. I just feel like you’ve been MIA (I recall you have been more active with basketball topics in years past too). But maybe it’s because we suck and/or I’m just going crazy Anyways, time for college baseball to start and for you and @Fletch to get back to business here!
  3. I think @immamac was going to post a link. Also. Where the fuck have you been?
  4. Ever heard of Purdue?… https://purduesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster Look at their roster composition and tell me how many games they’ve won on average over the past 10 seasons (and counting). Spoiler, what you just said about Dallas and winning 25 games per accordingly applies to Purdue with Indiana kids. Indiana produces plenty of DI talent.
  5. It certainly can be. UGA and OU (who Texas has already beaten) are winnable games at home. That leaves one more to get to seven. However, I really think this team needs 8, with one of those coming against Bama or Kentucky to really justify their hopes of being safely in.
  6. Very likely true. Texas doesn't have a good enough non-con résumé to finish 7-11 and make it safely.
  7. It certainly seems like it's less than 50/50 now. We're not beating the teams who are also on the bubble consistently enough to inspire confidence. If Texas makes it, it's most likely as a play-in participant. Texas will likely finish 7-11 in league play.
  8. Kind of like how we only made the second round with KD. However, that team would boat race this one.
  9. I guess it's possible, given the remaining schedule isn't a gauntlet, but this team looks done. SCar, Arkansas, UGA, and OU gets us to 8 wins, but they're not winning all 4. No chance we beat Bama, highly unlikely we win at MSU, doubtful we beat Kentucky even at home.
  10. Should have been a foul sending Kaluma to the line. It's over anyways, but that was BS.
  11. I guess there are worse ways to die
  12. @Derka For an SEC away game, we've gotten to the free throw line today pretty well (which has been a problem this season). 13-20 to 9-12 for Vanderbilt. Just need to convert more.
  13. Sounds like you need to fire your son if he blew a 14-point lead. Just my opinion, though. 100% this
  14. It's an elevated court and the orientation of the gym is weird. Memorial Gymnasium is a very old building and they've just retrofitted it as best as possible. It's just the solution they came up with given the odd dimensions to work with. However, it was a fun place to watch games as a grad student. There's an entire student section that's under this weird overhang. The sound just sits there. Makes for an interesting and exciting in-person experience. Honestly, the entire layout of their athletic facilities has become an interesting sight as they've expanded. For example, they've connected the facades of their baseball stadium and football stadium, as well as the baseball stadium and Memorial Gymnasium, as the venues have expanded. They have a mini-monster in L field of Hawkins Field because it butts up with Memorial. TL;DR - It's old AF and very space constrained. As it has been expanded, it just became more unique.
  15. Yeah, and it doesn't seem like he wants back in to coaching. But wtf do I actually know on that...
  16. Good offensive adjustments for Texas so far in the second half. Gotta give the coaches props there.
  17. That's a coaching and mentality/culture issue. They're small, yet they play hard. Byington knows what he's doing, that's for sure.
  18. Yeah, I'm being pessimistic about Texas' chances today given the injuries and it being a road game. That being said, we probably win going away haha.
  19. They're in love with Chris Beard since his quote at halftime against Kentucky that referenced Bobby Knight. I would bet almost anything Beard is not the coach at Ole Miss next season.
  20. Update on Phelia from 247. Noting is really mentioned about coming back to Texas next season, but I assume that's the plan. Get Chavez and at least one good big from the portal and this team really might win it all in 2025-26. Sources: Michigan transfer guard Laila Phelia needs eye surgery and will seek medical redshirt this season
  21. While I understand the assumption flow of that argument, all indications are that A&M donors are strained from Fisher’s buyout, the following underwhelming hiring process, the fallout of their “no NIL” 2022 #1 class, and the various emotional downswings to end the 2024 season (missing the SEC Title game, zero offensive points against Texas at home in the return of that matchup, yet another 8-4 regular season, etc.). I think many of them are in wait-and-see mode with Elko’s regime. I could be wrong, but I don’t think they (the big money - not dumb texags poster) collectively believe they’re “on the cusp” as they did going into 2022 when they spent a record amount on recruiting. However, I also can’t rule out their manic drive to step out of the “little brother” shadow. So, you could end up being correct.
