The Stephen King Thread
I’ve never read any SK, but have read this whole thread. I do not consider myself to be a big fan or horror, but I like drama and classic works. Also, I’m remembering that my first books read as a child were from the Goosebumps series, which I assume was influenced by SK. I’m perhaps in an enviable position for a newb as I have not seen the movie adaptations, or if I have, it’s been at least ten years, so it’ll all be pretty fresh and untainted. I want to read at least 3-5 of his books, so below is the loose plan. I think I’m going to start with IT then 11/22/63 and slot in Carrie either after or before these two. I might try to squeeze in the Duma Key audiobook since I’m curious to hear John Slattery’s narration (generally prefer to read than listen). I also have Pet Sematary and Different Seasons slotted high on the list. My general reading list is extensive so this will probably take a while.

Documentaries- whatchoo got?
I could see that for sure. I'm on a reading schedule (80-100 pages every two weeks), reading it with my mom and my sisters.

Whatcha reading?
Just finished The Hobbit. I loved the first chapter, “An Unexpected Party.” My main read right now is The Power Broker, but I’m reading it as part of a family book club schedule that is allowing room for some other reads. I’m reading Cinema Speculation (Quentin Tarantino’s musings about the 70’s cinema he grew up on). I’m taking my time with this one as I’m watching some of the movies that are referenced. I’m half-way through The Friends of Eddie Coyle, which was adapted into a movie in the 70’s that was mentioned in Cinema Speculation. It’s a crime drama about an arms dealer in Boston. The whole book is dialogue. Once I finish The Friends of Eddie Coyle, I think I will go on to A Gentleman in Moscow based on recommendations in this thread also from a family member.

Documentaries- whatchoo got?
I have listened to the first episode, which is as far as I am in the book so far and enjoyed it. It was cool that they were able to get Caro on the pod.

Documentaries- whatchoo got?
Turn Every Page - The Adventures of Robert Caro and Robert Gottlieb. It's available on Criterion Channel, which offers a free trial. It's about Robert Caro, one of the best biographers of all-time, and his long-time editor, Scott Gottlieb, who has edited a ton of classic books. Caro wrote The Power Broker and The Years of Lyndon Johnson. I had not read any of the books when I watched the documentary. Now I'm reading The Power Broker.

Movie theaters officially dead
Devastating news. I had the Season Pass and had three locations either close to my apartment or office. Brutal!

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning
Glad I asked. I feel good about the start with Rogue Nation plan.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning
I saw the first Mission Impossible as a kid, haven't seen any of the sequels. I see that the latest is getting good reviews and I want to watch it. Is there any value in binge watching all of the previous Mission Impossible movies or should I just watch the latest one?

2022 Poker: Ship it!
Cameron Blazevich made a deep run in the WSOP Main Event, finished 32nd ($263k cash). He plays a ton of live cash in Austin, I'm sure some of y'all have played with him before. https://www.pokernews.com/tours/wsop/2022-wsop/main-event/chips.515812.htm

2021 Houston Astros Thread
Meyers ended up getting scratched, McCormick starting in CF. Would have liked to have seen Castro get the start, unless Greinke specifically wanted to pitch to Maldonado.

Grateful Dead General Thread
Sad that I missed St Stephen > The Eleven by one day, I was at the Dallas show. The Dallas show was great though.

Grateful Dead General Thread
Thanks for posting this, I look forward to watching. I didn't realize Dead & Co played Eleven til I saw this set list for this show last week. I don't recall ever seeing a set list I like as much as the 2nd set+ encore. Werewolves as the encore... some Playin', St Stephen > William Tell > Eleven... love it.
