You can poke holes in all their resume’s, that’s why these teams are on the bubble. You pointed at Kentucky’s non conference SOS as a weakness (which it is) then tried to put teams with worse non conference SOS ahead of them. So what criteria are we using? The one that supports whatever team I want in? Kentucky has 8 Q1 wins UTRGV, SELa, and Virginia have 7 combined between the 3 of them and only UTRGV has a better non conference SOS.
You can go deep into the weeds on these arguments down to any detail you would like. Like the fact that sure Kentucky got swept by Vanderbilt in Nashville, but they lost all 3 games by a combined 4 runs. They lost 2 one run games to Auburn. So sure they are 3-9 against the top 4 teams in the RPI but 7 of those losses were by a combined 10 runs.
Im not going to lose an ounce of sleep if Kentucky gets left out of the field but I think it’s disingenuous to say they aren’t deserving, at least relative to the teams they are being compared to. You aren’t facing Kade Anderson, Liam Doyle, and Kyson Witherspoon in the Southland.
I said Virginia dodged 4 of the top 7 because you can’t judge them for a series they did not play. They finished 63rd in the RPI with an 18-17 record against Q1-Q3 opponents. They could’ve swept Florida State or they could’ve gotten swept, we will never know, so they are what they are.
2nd best day of the year tomorrow, second only to opening day of college baseball. We will find out tomorrow.
