  1. If Pierce can build Hansen's fast ball velocity up and help him develop a changeup he is going to be filthy. Already has good command
  2. If that ball would have been caught it would have perfectly summed up this series for both teams
  3. We have to lead the country in taken fastballs which is an abortion of an approach at the plate.
  4. No runs, Kolby walked in the run
  5. And Pete Hansen comes in and (I usually try to avoid hyperbole with individual moments in baseball) has the biggest moment of Texas season thus far.
  6. Yeahhhhhh... Pete Hansen has to be the Sunday starter going forward
  7. I will say the hook on Kolby should be quicker than last week and if he struggles today you have to seriously think about moving Hansen to Sunday. As I type Tech has back to back singles to start the game...
  8. Game 1 I thought he did all he could do, Madden didn't have his best stuff and you got through the game with Shifflet and Cobb all while still having a chance to win. Then game 2 started, Antico leads off with a single (great start) and now we have our best hitter in Daly coming up and you....sacrifice bunt in the 1st? The suspension of the game saved Tech, gave their bullpen a day off. Stevens got into a similar jam against Okie State last week and got out of it, just a gut feeling you go with as a manager, sometimes you're right and sometimes you're wrong.
  9. Nothing you can do, Stehly has a better glove but not so much that you are willing to trade the power when both him and Stehly strike out at similar rates. I can't remember if Ivan played 3B at Odessa but even if he did you aren't going to throw a guy at 3B with 7 games left in conference play when he has hardly played the field at all this year. They are pretty much fucked at 3B the rest of they year. If I was managing the team I would be bringing in Stehly as a defensive replacement in the 7th or 8th of any game we are leading the rest of the way. If Cam isn't at best a DH for this team next year that will be no bueno. When you are fielding .893 at your position in college while being able to work with Troy Tulowitzki every day, that says all you need to know about your ability to play that position.
  10. Pierce is going to have to find a Third Baseman because Cam Williams ain't it. Going to have to figure something out because right now they don't have an option
  11. They don't have a better bullpen, not even close but a rain delay allowed them to use their best arm in back to back games. We have just looked apathetic for 2 games and they look like a little red headed step child pissed off and ready to kick some ass. They looked quite the opposite when they got their teeth kicked in by Baylor. Now we look like they did last week
  12. Also to put into perspective just how good Ty Madden has been. Jack Leiter has now given up 12 ER in his last 14.1 IP. A kid who will likely go top 2 in the draft. Can happen to anybody.
  13. My bad lol. Still not much to be worried about IMO. Texas finished 8th in the conference in AVG. in 2014 and were 1 run away from playing for it all. No one is going to mistake Arkansas for a poor hitting team, very good actually which is why it actually shocked me when I went and looked earlier today before their offensive explosion against LSU to find out they are hitting .283 (after today's game) as a team and were hitting just .254 in conference play before today's game (now .266). Now they have played a really tough schedule so it isn't an apples to apples comparison but for comparison Texas is hitting .280 (.267 in conference). I think most just have a really bad taste because of just how overmatched they looked that opening weekend which they did look really fucking bad. An opening weekend in which Mitchell Daly and Douglas Hodo did not play.
  14. ??? Uh we finished 6th (2017), 1st (2018), and last (2019). Started last year 14-3 before the season was cancelled. David Pierce is no Augie Garrido, nobody is and it is an unfair comparison to any baseball manager. Pierce in his first 4 seasons has done something in 2 years that it took Augie 6 years to do which is win the conference, made a regional in his 1st year, something it took Augie 3 years to do, and 2 years to make it to Omaha which took Augie 4 years to do at Texas. It's been a mixed bag under Pierce with a lot of promise and a little what the fuck was that (2019).
  15. Augie was getting bounced in a regional in year 5 on their way to a 3rd place conference finish. Hindsight is always 20/20. Augie had skins on the wall so there was more faith that he would eventually get it going but it was by no means a quick process and you certainly can't say Pierce inherited any better of a situation.
  16. No Texas won't be, they are 34-10 (12-4). West Virginia is also horrible.
  17. This team is better than the 2018 team this team just doesn't have a Kody Clemens that seemingly delivered in every clutch moment. Regardless of the outcome of this series this team is still in good shape to make a postseason run, just worry that like the 2018 team they may look overmatched against the best of college baseball like we saw on the opening weekend.
  18. That definitely plays a factor, Tech has also played to the level of their competition all year long. If they hold on to win today the will be 6-2 against TCU/OSU/TEX on the season and 4-5 against WVU/BU/KSU.
  19. Good news for Texas is Tech's bullpen is ass as has been on display this inning. Bad news for Texas is momentum just got halted for rain which will mean Tadlock will be forced to take out the erratic Wells. Will be really interesting to see what Tadlock does.
  20. So far this weekend Tech has had 21 base runners to Texas 22. Texas Tech has struck out 20 times to Texas 17. Biggest difference has been Tech has scored 8 of their 11 runs in the series in the span of 2 innings. Other notable difference between the two teams on the season is Tech came into today SLGing .501 as a team, Texas a mere .445... Both teams hitting .280 on the year. Hard to score when you are trying to string together 3 singles.
  21. Game has been stopped, Hodo struck out, went into the at bat 2-3 on the day but as has been the story all weekend they can't get the big hit
  22. I would to, and that is what happens although I doubt by design. Petrinsky is a double play machine though, hopefully he can come through
  23. Ball game coming up right here. Ivan up with the bases loaded one out, Tech up 5-1 Hard to ask for one man to keep delivering but that is what will be asked of Ivan
  24. The same could be said for Texas Tech, only difference is they have gotten the big hit all weekend Texas hasn't gotten one all weekend. Tech has two more hits than Texas this weekend and has struck out 20 times to Texas' 16... They just take advantage of 2 HBPs and a walk, we don't.
  25. Big time AB by Todd, good job just to slap it somewhere
