Have you been drinking tonight? You might want to read for a while and stay away from the keyboard. I'm referring to every one of your posts i've read today
Yeah the postgame analysis of all this, after the dust and misinfo settles, will be fascinating. Particularly all the different types of aid (not just weapons but detailed intel) the Ukrainians are getting, and of course there will be some incredible stuff about Ukrainian citizens engaging with the invaders
Sure, he allows them to keep their status as oligarchs who still are still billionaires despite giving him half. But for fucks sake, being guilty of hoarding resources is not in the same universe of Putin's guilt. And I still have no idea where you got the idea that any of them would willingly die for Putin.
Where do you get that? My understanding is that most of the Oligarchs hate his fucking guts, but he has them by the balls. When he took power he demanded half of the Oligarchs' wealth or else he'd kill them and their family and friends etc. He can do it because of his iron grip on the KGB, military, etc. Which is also why it would be an enormous risk to plot an assassination from within. They wouldn't know who is really a spy for Putin.
No, but what I really wish is that we had taught Ukrainian with a Ukrainian accent to a bunch of SpecOps the last few years, and we send them in with Ukrainian uniforms on. Fuck up the rooskies good, but so we don't start WW3 if if any get captured dead or alive.
Its way more than Putin being "content with the level of chaos Trump provided." Putin was using him to lay the groundwork for this exact thing. That is why Trump chose trying to withhold military aid to Ukraine as the lever to dirty up Biden. He could have chosen a dozen different things but went with that because it would advance both his and Putin's interests. Trying to withdraw from NATO, obviously another one that would have completely removed any constraint on Putin's ambitions.
As if we needed more proof, the fact that the red team and their dear leader are sucking Putin's dick as all this is unfolding, absolutely confirms he is a traitor and Putin's puppet.
And I know the last five years should have killed any hope, but I still find myself incredulous that his base will go along. Most of the ex-military guys I know personally are in MAGA echo chambers, but I still can't believe they're ok with it.
I have been reading just about every post for weeks. I saw a lot of "wtf is Putin's end game?" type posts and not a lot of good explanations. So I appreciate the historical and cultural context to this that he and many others have been providing. And for instance I didn't appreciate the difference in what Nazi means to the west vs. what it means to Russians wrt Ukraine. I'm sure the knowledgeable guys know that stuff well, but why bitch about it? Even if its already been discussed, I mean shit on this site posters rehash shit constantly.
I don't get the vitriol for your posts. They don't come across as argumentative and those of us not as well informed about the region appreciate them. Thank you
Meh, they're only calling for .2 inches of rain. Cold but not that cold. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to get jammed by a fastball on Saturday, but if the forecast holds I don't see it being cancelled.
So, I can understand why we and other NATO countries said they would not send troops/weapons to Ukraine. But, what happens if the Russians do start killing lots of civilians? I would assume other countries would get involved then (for instance, UK/Poland at a minimum). My real question is, why didn't we state that caveat when we announced no troops to Ukraine? "We won't send help UNLESS the Russians engage in genocide, murder civilians" etc. By my reckoning it would be a deterrent that would really make Putin think twice, and also would give us plenty of cover to go in if it came to that. But I don't know shit, would love some thoughts from those familiar with this stuff.
I think it is a "Perdiz" but it was basically made out of a flake so its smaller and not as well formed as the typical point of that type.
I am under the impression/belief that what a lot of people call "bird points" are actual arrowheads, as opposed to spear or dart points (atlatl) which most people call arrowheads. Bow and arrow technology showed up in TX less than 2,000 years ago and the points since then are noticeably smaller in general because most of them were on arrows instead of spears. I have found a couple of teeny tiny ones that may have been used to hunt birds, but my hunch is that they were really used by kids learning to shoot.
Here's a good website to type/date artifacts: https://www.projectilepoints.net/
They are cool cats but numbers need to be checked like everything else. I'm not worried about whitetail but in mule deer country cats can wreak havoc. An adult cat kills a deer a week on average. Thats a LOT of muleys.
I have no stomach for chasing them with dogs or trapping, but I'm not gonna lie, when I have a deer or elk tag I'm glad other dudes are out there running them down.
I have a small piece of property in eastern Travis County and found a lion kill (whitetail) a couple of weeks ago about 75 yards from the house. I've heard they were there historically but after at least ten years of running trail cams and hunting, I've never seen one there. Amazing how they can hide.
