These kids will grow up, get a job, and cry like tits when they don’t get exemplary performance evaluations.....even though they’re just spare employees.

Wait, they LOST?
Didn't Cesspool himself insist just 8 days ago they wouldn't lose another game all season and finish 10-2?
yes unbelievably Texas A&M has lost twice since then-- I don't really get it, they are known for getting awesome-o strong at the end of seasons and Herbstreit is almost as good at prognosticating as he is being faithful to his wife, it is hard to believe things have gone south in "The Station"

in addition to kicking the field goal, he also screwed up by not going for two on the last touchdown, he should have known WVU was going to do that and pre-emptively gotten two so they could only tie us when they scored their touchdown

I don't care what's right anymore, I only care about getting what I want. So, it's taunting, and I was glad it got flagged, and I laughed when the fucking dipshit cocksucker West Virginia player got kicked out, and I hope every player that ever does it tears up his knee and has to fall back on his lucrative post-football career of selling used cars. I hope Will Grier's life from here on goes so badly that Art Schlichter and Todd Marinovich and OJ Simpson look at him and say "I made mistakes but at least I didn't end up like Will Grier". I hope West Virginia goes on probation for a hundred billion years and Dana Holgorsen gets trapped in a burning building, or worse, the Big 12 after we leave it in six years.
Fuck anyone that's ever done it and fuck everyone who defends it.

Trivial, maybe, but I get surly about the fact that women never outgrow the fantasy of being the center of attention and adulation. For young girls it's being a princess or a rock star or a princess rock star who can do magic. Fine, that's kind of cute. Then you watch CNBC and there's one fintech or brokerage commercial that's emblematic-- this woman is giving a quasi-TED talk and not only isn't stumped by a tough question from the audience, they give her answer a standing ovation! Yay! She's a rock star! She's the hero of all the company's employees!
Fucking grow up.

I read once that aggy is paying $29 million/year alone on bond loans as payback for their stadium upgrade. I tried finding the article again but have had no luck. Would like to know if this is true or just a myth. Can someone (calling Mr RD) help a brother out? Thanks.
That is outdated info, they refinanced a few years back using a sophisticated two-tranche methodology. Tranche 1 is a University-wide payday loan. Tranche 2 is a title loan against their nine-year old Toyota Celica.
Of course all of that gets paid off early if their CFO's "big splash" strategy pays off and they win the Powerball lottery.

A&M went to the SEC for a few reasons. The two most pertinent are:
1) Elementary Aggie Psychology, aka Abnormal Psychology. They knew they would never outgrow or move past their obsession with Texas. Anything any Aggie ever does is either explicitly or subconsciously compared to Texas; given the great frequency with which Aggies come up short in these comparisons, the best way to avoid obvious inferiority is to limit objective comparisons. It's easier to avoid feeling like an inferior loser compared to another program if you don't actually compete with them on the field.
They are far happier in the SEC because they don't have to live with finishing lower in the conference standings than us or losing head-to-head against us. They can instead claim they're better regardless of record, etc, because "everyone" knows that they'da beat t.u. and finished ahead of 'em in the BDF but the dang SEC's just so tough they could only win a few games.
They can also selectively make comparisons that they think flatter them. "We play in a tougher conference! Our conference wins the national title most years! If you leave out the head to head games that don't really matter, our conference beat yours every time!!!"
It is sophistry. For Aggies reading, I'm not talking about your second year on campus.
2) Malice, aka why we should never schedule them again. A&M thought that based on Texas' growing independence and its interest in moving to the Pac-16 that the Big 12 was doomed. They also knew that Texas had arranged for A&M to be part of the Western exodus. Aggie thought leaders (Reveille, Bowen Loftin, Rick Perry, listed in order of IQ from highest to lowest) thought that by ditching the Big 12 for the SEC, they would seriously injure Texas' athletic programs (most specifically football) since we'd be stuck in a conference that we appeared to think was dying.

I saw her at SXSW this year. Probably the best show I attended.
I can believe it, she has a bunch of live showcases on YouTube and is a really engaging performer. I'm kicking myself in the dick for not having heard of her sooner since she doesn't have any 2018 US dates scheduled. Maybe next year.
-
Amazing voice, clever songwriting. She played @ SXSW either this past year or the year before which I regrettably learned after the fact. I didn't see a thread on her but thought I would share; she's one of my favorite acts at the moment (ht @ KUTX)

can you imagine joining the SEC West and the SEC's like "OK you have a protected rivalry game against one team from the SEC East, it's... South Carolina"
winner of 0 SEC titles, 0 national titles, 5 appearances in the AP Top 5 all-time
actually if you're A&M I guess you say "hey that sounds about right"
