I can’t believe we have a shitty o-line for the 15th fucking year in a row.  JFC

We’ve had several decent offensive lines in the past 15 years, and we’ll probably have a decent offensive line this year. Not the 90s Cowboys, but ok by college football standards. This ain’t the late Mack and Strong tenure.

  2. I will say, we are all piling on Quinn, and that’s ok because he’s the quarterback getting paid, etc. But the offensive line was way more concerning to me. Fucking Rice was setting the interior line of scrimmage all throughout the first half. It looked extremely similar to last year, but we had Bijan able to pull a Barry Sanders for 5 yard gains.

DJ is very young so I still think he can be great, it just may not be this year, which really sucks.

Re: the prospect of potentially benching QE in a game for performance issues… I’m not holding my breath. Anyone with two eyes and a pulse could see we would’ve likely won those Tech and Ok St games last year if he’d been benched for Card. We were joking Card must’ve fucked his wife or something. It was incomprehensible leaving him out there.

Not sure I agree with your police work there Lou.

    Alabama: 31

    Texas: 27

Bama Yardage: 374 - exact same as last year, a metaphor

Texas comes out looking sharper on offense. They look woefully unprepared against Rice so I have to think there was a heavy focus on Bama prep over the past couple weeks. Sark schemes up some points over the first few possessions, a strong Texas defense more or less keeps a lid on Alabama through the first half, and Texas takes a lead into the locker room. The kool aid is flowing, the game thread is a unabashed circle jerk.

Texas finds itself with a 10-14 point third quarter lead... and Alabama has Texas exactly where they want them. We've all seen this movie before. We cling to hope that this time will be different but it feels the exact same as things start to unwind. The Texas offense stalls as they simply cannot run the ball on Alabama's front and Ewers's play deteriorates when he's asked to make plays off script. Alabama's offense isn't doing anything special but as their snap count mounts they start gashing the Texas defense for chunk yardage with regularity. Texas gets the ball back with 3-4 minutes left but can't execute a go-ahead/game-winning drive.

Ewers sucks, but acting like you can glean anything from Murphys 3 completions is just silly. Down to see more of him and see where it goes at this point though.

That Murphy slant route is about to be this year’s version of Christian Scott lighting up that Kansas RB in 2008. He’ll be replacing Gideon any day now!

It’s frustrating because the book on stopping Texas has been out there and Sark evidently made no effort to adapt.

I’m sure he’s made an effort. He just isn’t a very good head coach, which everyone should have known.

    To this list I'll add

    Evil Dead Rise

    Talk to Me

    Barbarian

    Malignant

Love all of these except for Evil Dead Rise. Evil Dead II is a stone cold classic, but I found the 2013 and 2023 reboots a snooze.

I lose track of our horror threads so maybe I’ve already mentioned in this thread, but a few other favorites include Empty Man, Rec, Terrifier 2, The Babadook, Green Room, and, last but absolutely not least, The Invitation (2015).

You mean dusty ass metal from 30 years ago doesn’t get the kids lit? Well, at least the fat olds of DKR are known for bringing the energy.

JFC this. A bunch of over the hill white dads trying to hype up the football team (all of whom were born after 2000) with played out arena rock. I mean why not just let Army Brat decide so the team can run out to Elvis or some doo wop song.

    2. The strangers ( liv Tyler sucks but the movie is awesome. Some one kicking ur door down and killing you is more likely then ghost and zombies)

Love the The Strangers, and 29 year old Liv Tyler can act however she wants in my book.

    Ugly? That's beautiful.

Where does one get wild boar these days?

Eataly is across town from me, and their instacart service is really great (we can usually place an order and have it delivered within an hour). All kinds of (overpriced) stuff I can’t find in normal stores, and I’m too lazy to walk to the local Italian specialty shops.

The difference is that Sarks classes have high OL/DL (both) and QB talent.

    Stronk’s had DL talent.

    Herman’s had skill position talent.

    Sark’s classes seem well balanced

or maybe I’m drinking the KoolAid

Right. His first two real classes had high end talent at every position except Edge and interior defensive line, and the 24 class now has the #1 ranked Edge and is probably about to have a commitment from a 5 star interior defensive lineman. I’m as bearish on Sark as anyone, but his talent accumulation has been super impressive.

Yes, I think so. The roster he inherited was not his fault. The injuries to an already thin roster were not his fault. If you look at the things he was responsible for -- recruiting, developing, and retaining talent, and winning the winnable games -- he has done well. I wouldn't say perfect, but well.

If you watched the Oklahoma St and TCU games last year and thought, this head coach is doing well in all aspects of head coaching, I’m not sure what to say. But he’s done an incredible job of accumulating talent, no doubt about that.
