I made this comment recently in another movie thread, but how do people even learn about new movies these days, including how/where/when they can watch/stream them? Pixar, Marvel, and Mission Impossible movies get heavily advertised, obviously, but how do non-Disney, non-action blockbusters even make an blip these days? Is it all word of mouth? Like others have said, I haven't heard of most of these. A decade ago, I had at least heard of most of the smaller, more obscure nominees.

For me, it's a combination of Letterboxd and the Big Picture podcast. The Big Pic is pretty normie/popcorn centric (aptly titled), but they do have special horror-centric episodes and other one offs, so it ends up providing a pretty good base of knowledge if you have an interest in keeping up with modern movies.

The little guy hasn't done anything on this site in almost two weeks. I just assume that the wife got tired of his angry incel behavior and beat him with a tire iron until he stopped breathing.

Ha, now that you mention it, I guess I have noticed less "ignored post" notifications littered throughout every recruiting and football board thread.

I'm very surprised he didn't get the call on the 2nd down that was the worst playcall in history though, I really was expecting that to be a Juan is unaccounted for easy curl into the ez play or even a Juan power run formation.

You were very surprised that a guy with 9 catches and 0 TDs didn’t get his number called in the biggest moment of the year?

I lose track of facetiousness, admittedly

Decent chance we are better next year than this year.
Lb should be better by virtue of getting older. Edge should be better for the same reason. DT a step back but not as much as everyone thinks. If Taaffe comes back and Williams is healthy we will have 4 guys at safety that will be really good.  Guilbeuaux a year older and in his contract year. I think Manny will be fine to really good. Maybe he takes a step and is elite. I’d like to see a couple corners come in the portal but they might already be on campus.
If Terry had a Simmons like freshman season things get really interesting.
Also, I expect every team on our schedule to be more or less dogshit offensively next year except maybe Florida, so… the defense will be elite level fine in all likelihood. Like, top 5 defense again by the numbers in the game.
Really only spot we are glaringly lacking that absolutely needs to be filled in the portal in my opinion is WR1. We need a stud.

Overall agree, but I think we’ll be noticeably worse at the beginning of the season. Replacing 4/5 offensive line starters, including a generational left tackle, is no joke. Losing Barron and Mukuba from the secondary is brutal; I expect that unit to take a big step back.

The great thing is that our schedule is very manageable yet again. On paper, trips to Columbus, Athens and Gainesville should be the only real challenges. Plenty of room to have growing pains yet still win. Go 1-2 in those games and you are in the playoffs, and it’s all about getting hot at the right time.

Most movies made these days are just dumb and reflect the education level our society.

This post is certainly a good reflection of the mass ignorance level of our society.

Yes, but is there even a direct subway to JFK, or do you have to change to a sketchy bus, like the good, ole days?  Also, carrying luggage up and down subway platforms is fun and rewarding.

The AirTran connects every terminal directly to tons of LIRRs (not a subway, has luggage racks) directly into either west or east midtown Manhattan at all hours of the day, for $15.

The AirTran also connects every terminal to 3 subways lines go to Manhattan. Much slower option

    NO

The only thing NYC transit has going for it is size.   Trains are slow, loud, infrequent, and dirty.  The stations are filthy leaking and trash strewn.  PA announcements on the trains are a joke... even when there is a sudden arbitrary change in service. (like JK this train isn't going where we said it would) You only get the peanuts adult voice played through a blasted out 3" speaker.

Don't get me wrong, it's great for a US city.  But compared to pretty much any modern country it's a dog, just getting by on nostalgia.  Athens has a nicer system.  45mins from Eleftherios(Athens International) to central Athens 1 train straight in and it's probably 15 miles.   La Guardia to Central Park Bus>Train>Subway  Over an hour and 15 mins of that is walking and it's probably less than 9 miles.  Newark or JFK....ppppffffft

It's a pale shadow of what it could be.

As a 2x daily subway rider, pretty much every word of this is hyperbolic nonsense except with respect to LaGuardia. The subway is by and large frequent, fast and clean on the trains. Many of the stations are old and grimey, it is what it is. So are many of the stations in Europe. There are also a decent number of homeless people during real cold spells (like right now), but we don't have the social safety net in America to fix that in a humane way.

You can take the LIRR via AirTran from any terminal at JFK directly to Penn, at which point you can take any number of NJTs directly to EWR. It's definitely not as good as the RER from CDG, but it's pretty great. But most people prefer to take a cab and have something to bitch about.

Subways in NYC?  Sad to say but I don’t consider them safe for my wife and kids to be on. I’ll take them myself but not with my family or business colleagues. I pretty much only take them if I’m going to at a sporting event like the US Open tennis tournament where there are big crowds and a train that takes you right there.

This is hilarious. Won't someone think of the women and children! I need to text my wife to watch out on her way to work this morning!

In any event, as someone who lives and works in the congestion zone, this is fantastic for me.

I have often thought of our offense like a finely tuned Ferrari, runs like a dream when it’s well-maintained but frequently breaks down and is in the shop.

Speaking of Finebaum, the ESPN morning show was on one of the TV’s while I was at the gym this morning and Mike Greenberg asked Finebaum and Heather Dinich which coach had the most pressure on them this game. Dinich said it was “100% on Sark” because the SEC has been bad in the playoffs and Texas is carrying the banner of the conference. To his credit, Finebaum respectfully disagreed with that ridiculous assessment.

Day obviously has the most pressure, followed by Franklin, and then there is a huge gap. Sark might have more pressure than Freeman just given overall program expectations, but I think the masses at Texas are pretty damn happy with the last two seasons and the state of the program, win or lose.

Complete unknown, brutalist, anora, nickel boys, the beast, baby girl, and sing sing are the ones I need to see still.

Longlegs, late night with devil just miss out.
I thought I saw the tv glow, cuckoo, trap and blink twice all sucked

I also was meh on cuckoo and thought trap and blink twice sucked. Loved TV Glow. Of your list, I liked em all except Heretic, which I found pretty boring even though I saw it in a packed theater around opening night.

  13. Question for the tailoring experts here. My dad has a military issued London fog raincoat from his time in the navy. It’s an awesome coat and I’d love to use it, but he’s a few inches taller than me and so it wears a bit too large in the sleeves and length. Is this something that a good tailor can address?

It’s not legal in public, it’s just that assholes don’t give a fuck and police don’t enforce anything. I, too, am extremely tired of it in parks and sidewalks.

It is, in fact, legal to smoke weed in public in New York (same minimal restrictions as cigarettes). For better or worse, we aren’t a nanny state like Texas. We can get high, gamble and watch porn as much as we please.

Want to give credit to Ewers as well for his 3rd down TD run to put us up 24-8.

The frustration with Quinn has been the inability to just make a play at crucial points of a game. To be fair, he hasn't had a ton of opportunities the way things played out this year. But he was making huge plays throughout 4th quarter and OT. Respect.

Agreed. He’s actually played really well both playoff games. Had a few what the fuck plays (missed 4th down to Golden against Clemson, INT against ASU), but overall a pretty high level of play and was absolutely nails from 5 minutes on against ASU.

He might actually be the best overall QB left in the playoffs. Howard obviously has better weapons and + mobility, but he at least equally as prone to WTF games

I think Texas has reached a point where even in a rebuilding year, they will be solid. I believe the floor on this program is 9 wins.

With our schedule next year, it should be. Ohio St, Georgia and Florida on the road will be tough. That’s really it. A&M and OU will both be bad teams next year.

I agree with your overall point that next year’s offensive line is a huge question mark.
