What makes me think it was a personal vendetta for all the victims is that he could have killed the cyclist but didn't. Same with the cops.

He shot multiple times at the mountain biker.  It occurred on a trail.  He fired multiple rounds and only one of them hit.  Flesh wound.   Rider was able to haul ass and get away while he was still firing.

make all tickets non transferable. if you can't go, the event buys them back + a fee (fee is a sliding scale, based on when they're sold back)

Zach Bryan sold tickets this way on his latest tour. We bought them from the resale marketplace and it worked as advertised.  It was so nice not to deal with that ticket broker bullshit.

I feel like James Brown gets overlooked in these discussions, especially in the “big picture” context.

Last SWC and first Big XII Championships. Reminded us we could actually beat OU and A&M on multiple occasions ….brought a swagger that still resonates today as evidenced by the weekly “maybe we’ll beat them by xx points” posts on each betting line thread started every week.

Fact of the matter is that in the early 90’s Texas was very much the “uncool school” for DISD, HISD and Deep East Texas talent, which was either flooding out of state, or to A&M and OU. And yes, at that time, a Black starting QB at Texas was a big deal.

James Brown committed to Texas despite being one year behind the Annointed Savior Shea Morenz, seized the opportunity when it was presented, and never looked back. He made it cool to go to UT.

And he was a bad motherfucker. It was a different era offensively, but he posted numbers that stood up until Colt, Vince and even David Ash took down. He took down OU after 4 or more straight losses as a RS Freshman backup. He lead us to a win for the first time in forever at Kyle Field while playing on a sprained ankle.

The discussion of greatest post-DKR era UT quarterbacks absolutely must include James Brown.

Brass balls.  And he was responsible for the greatest 4th down play ever until someone upstaged him in ‘05.

Does the committee go by best team right now? Texas & Bama are in the playoff.

Does the committee go by on the field results? FSU is in for being undefeated and Texas is in for beating Bama.

Do I think the committee will apply one philosophy to let in Bama and another to let in FSU, thereby screwing Texas? Yes. Unfortunately, I think this is the most likely scenario.

If/when this happens, CDC needs to announce that the Michigan game next season is off. The CFP committee will have made it crystal clear that beating a top tier OOC team on their field by double digits is meaningless.

So temper tantrum is the way to handle it?  Fuck that.

  5. The SEC champ is getting in. Period. There is all kinds of logic to prove there are better more deserving teams but that’s just not realistic.  Somebody is getting fucked between us, UW, and FlaSt. But the SEC champ is not going to be the one left out.

I assumed it would pick up a few MPG based on the hybrid motor and the 8 speed transmission. Doesn’t the hybrid kick on at highway speeds or am I misunderstanding how that works…which is entirely possible.

I think that usually how it works but in this case primary purpose of the hybrid is to deliver a lot more power at lower RPMs than the previous versions without sacrificing mpg. If you look at the Tundra which is already available in a hybrid, it gained 2 mpg in the city and 0 on the highway vs its non-hybrid version.

  7. I’ll probably be buying one of the hybrid 2024 Tacomas. Been reading up on them quite a bit since they first announced them. Nobody is expecting the gas mileage to increase much. In fact, just today they released the non-hybrid mileage numbers and prices. I think they get like 1 more mile per gallon than the old model. The hybrid might improve on that a little bit, but not as much as you would think. My understanding is that the hybrid motor is designed to give it more low end power and acceleration, not necessarily to give it more miles per gallon. The old Tacomas are fairly anemic when it comes to acceleration, and the turbo hybrid is more a solution to that than gas mileage.

All that being said, I’m excited to get one when the hybrid comes out in the Spring.

  8. I like Waze but I’m the guy that presses “Not there” for every vehicle-on-the-shoulder report.  We don’t need that shit, it muddies the water when you just want the cop reports.  I might make an occasional exception if the car is just over a blind hill or something, but 99% of those reports are completely unnecessary and I do my part to remove them.

    First loss prediction...at Miss State.

Miss St was “fire the coach after one year” bad this year.  And they just hired Art Briles son in law.  Starting QB is in the portal.  They got up for the Egg Bowl and kept it respectable but in the big picture it’s a bigger dumpster fire than A&M over there.

  10. LHN has been great for days when you’re doing stuff around the house and just want something going on in the background.  Classic historic games, interviews I wouldn’t have seen otherwise, etc. I have enjoyed it in spite of Galindo.

Arch 99% isnt going to be in college football 5 years, but that redshirt is still valuable and gives him(us!!!) some leverage later in his career.

This. It was widely reported that he and his family wanted him to redshirt. But even if that weren’t the case, assuming we get 3 years out of him (or 2… whatever), starting the clock on those years when he’s 19 and been in the program a year is better for us and for him.

If I was on a plane and had a bathroom emergency and the FA said no dice, I’d go into the lav anyway. Seems like a better way to handle the situation. Was there anything stopping this lady from doing that?

This is exactly what they expect you to do.  They don’t usually actually give a shit if you return to your seat or not, but they are required by federal regs to inform you that the seat belt sign is on and that you shouldn’t be up.  What you do after being informed of that is up to you.  Politely saying, “I know” and going to the lav anyway won’t get you much if any blowback except from the occasional power hungry militant stew.   The only time it’s an issue is taxiing, which will result in the aircraft being stopped until you sit back down.

You’d be shocked to know how common the “soiled seat cover” call to maintenance is.
